  1. Anyone handy with guard rolling got any tips? what best to use etc?
  2. Is this place still go? anyone notice any cresta parts?
  3. Like most things you get what you pay for in regards to paint Do you want to keep the car? if so I suggest get good materials and do it right the first time and you wont have to touch it for years to come. If you want to go metallic/pearl you 'll have to use basecoat/clearcoat.......i've used Spies Hecker (good coverage, colour matching etc but pricey) PPG....pricey and average coverage. And Metalux which is reasonable price with good coverage. If your going basecoat/clearcoat the basecoat quality isnt hugely important in terms of spending heaps but you'll want to get a decent clear with UV protection......better clears have better flow out and vertical hold etc and more importantly if your not painting in a booth its much easier to cut and polish the dust and wont have a memory with the scratches....makes life easier If your going a solid colour then 2k it up......its essentially just coloured clearcoat and job should be done in 2ish coats depending on colour as opposed to multiple coats of basecoat and either having another gun or cleaning your gun out to apply clear I was a distributor for a couple years and still have some contacts......if you know what you want I could probably get it at a decent rate
  4. I would definately prefer glass..........but I've had no luck sourcing one which probably indicates I've been looking in all wrong places. The chassis number is SX60 and it has recessed wipers( not sure if thats relevant).......any good leads to track one down would be much appreciated I've tried a couple commercial glass places......rang around auckland wreckers(awhile ago now though) and of course search trademe often. I'll try horopito motors and see if they can help but any other suggestions would be sweet If any leads end in a window I will hook the person up with some Dickies clothes.........anyone else wanting gears at wholesale let me know
  5. Does anyone know much about polycarbonate windows? Thinking about getting polycarbonate as a rear screen until I can find glass
  6. oh yes I see that does look mint! Once the wheels arrive I'll see if I have to do anything to the rear guards.....someone wrecked the locks trying to break in so I have to straighten them out and get new locks.....obviously werent that smart considering they could have got in through the plastic rear screen...lol But the bumpers have just been added to the list....shot
  7. My intials are LSD so I roll with it....lol
  8. A previous owner had a guy doing a runner from the cops come flying out of an onramp and collect the front......I dont think they could find an original front when the panel beater fixed it. I would prefer the original front but can live with this one...... My only fear of a 2jz NA is that I will want more more once I finally drive it with some power......still got time to think about this one before I decide I havent really thought painting the bumpers..........I have a couple of litres left over for future touch ups etc so definately could
  9. After browsing the forums admiring everyone elses work I have decided to put some pics of the cresta up I've had it for about 3 years now most of which has been gathering dust in the shed. I got it off a mate who was moving to oz for a grand which I was pretty happy about. It did however come with a broken rear screen (still havent found a replacement for!!!) and he had broken the mirrors off, other than that was pretty mint. Up until last year I worked as a an automotive paint distributor so I mixed a batch of golden poo brown paint and turned it into the kaka waka.....the colour isnt for everyone but im down with it! I've since sold the rims and the proceeds have gone towards a set off 15inch ssr mesh wheels...thanks to ewan from hayatonka..these arrive late august so cant wait! Im saving at the mo for a 1jzgte to put in....I just want it to be a cruiser with acessible overtaking power....it currently struggles to overtake diesel vans going up hills...lol When it comes time for the transplant Im hoping to do some bartering or labour trades.......Im pretty handy with a spraygun and also NZ rep for Dickies workwear........if anyone on here wants gears I can hook you up at wholesale! pre paint post paint At the moment I have a plastic replacement for the missing rear glass........if anyone can help fill the void with glass again I will reward accordingly! Wheels arriving soon
