  1. One car we had, a pretty tidy B4 Legacy with a blown engine, was bought on finance. Owner brought it into the shop, never heard from her ever again. After sitting for two or so years before sorting it out, the finance company paid for all outstanding costs and signed the car over to the workshop. Free car yay!

Boss bought a new engine, we slapped it in, gave it a good thrashing and then sold it.

  2. Basically you have to have made a reasonable effort to contact the owner, but that doesn't mean going out of your way or anything. A letter to the last known address telling them they have 28 days to collect is good enough. Doesn't matter if they receive it. I think then post an add in the paper even though no one will ever read it. After that you can take ownership of it / scrap it as you wish.

  3. It definitely wasn't a Honda alternator, I can't remember what it was from, pretty sure Cressida or Corolla from my stash, but the alternator itself worked mint. The problem we had was the pulley, it was supposed to run dual V belts but we boogied up a single Lucas pulley coz it's all we had and it suffered constant belt slip and totally sucked. I had thought Keegan had solved it but I guess not.

Unless of course he replaced the alternator again later, in which case never mind.

  4. Oh yeah nah sounds like timing is way up the shitter.

Has that raspy running tone to it and trying to crank against an ignition stoke. Wind the dizzy back, or figure out wtfs gone wrong with the tone wheel. Whatever that engine runs, 4G64s had both at some point in life.

Fucked cam timing won't cause that kinda shit on its own, but if the ign is triggered from a cam then that could be the issue.

It's been awhile since I've played with one of these fucks so I can't recall exactly how they operate off the top of my head. I recall some junk running off the cam pulley and being shit.

Anyone had a cvt fail? Or worked on one/ pulled it apart?

I've heard some stories about them being shit but I dont actually know anyone who's had one that has been a problem

Nissan Jukes shit them left right and centre.

I've diagnosed a lot of faulty CVTs, but unless the car has lost drivability they usually go ignored because the cars are worth the price of a rebuild.
