  1. its alot brighter in the flesh, photo's dont do justice for the paint. unique is deffinetly good. here's some more photo's, engine going in tommorow all going well. exahust gets put on next week some time as well. will post pics of that as it will be the first mk2 cortina (i hope) with the type of exahust i'll be getting.
  2. sounds good. any dates for the one in cromwell?
  3. Another few photo's. The seats are just sitting in it to keep them from getting junk sat on them. the umpers are fixed on and the back one needs a bit of a polish up and it'll be good. Next on the list is the hoodlining and then its down to get the engine, gearbox, drive shaft in at the workshop.
  4. An update on the car. Wiring is being done, underlay has been glued to the floor to quieten things down, custom made sub box has been fitted as well as my 6x9 speaker shelf at the back thanks to my brother's handy work. Front has been put back together and the possums better watch out as we had a pair of H4's in the garage that are now on the car. Rego plates are still live so will look that much better with the black plates when its done. Brought a uniden alarm system which is being fitted soon aswell. Carpets are in soon to be followed by the seats.
  5. Has any got dates for next years all Ford day or any cortina related shows. Mine will be done around the 7th of january and hope to take it for its first cruise to the timaru racing the weekend of the 13th of january. Any dates and who to contact etc would be great. Cheers
  6. Yeah he is an older guy doing it, just waiting on more material to arrive and then i will have all my bench seats done. Got the top half of the front bench seat back tonight so it would have only taken about 2-3 weeks for the lot which is dam good! you'll find him in the deep south. Joys of living down here i guess cheap deals and a dam good job. cant go wrong.
  7. IT looks preety dam cool all right, im real happy with how its turned out. I havnt got the bill for it all yet the guy is half way through the front bench seat. Was told it was $15 an hour to upholster the seats and material cost me about $160 all up. This will differ of course depending on who does your work. Here's my back bench seat all done and ready to slide back into the car.
  8. here's the back seat for the cortina fresh out of the upholsters shop. Should have both seats back by christmas. The guy i got to do it has done a real good job so cant wait to get it all put back in the car.
  9. A few more pics of my car, paint has had another good block sand and the bonnet has been primered and block sanded ready for colour. engine is half put back together but no rush there as that can be done in a night after the cars painted as it should prevent the seals from drying out before use. Seats are goingaway tommorow to have the green and white vinyl treatment as well as my dash top and speaker pods. Spent 3 hours gettin my front sway bars sorted in the weekend but still need to have it slightly adjusted before the engine goes in to prevent it from cracking the blocks and they need to be clamped down further from where they are now, apart from that its comin along slowly.
  10. here's an update on the cortina, its almost painted, just touch up bits to go and the clear coat. then its time to put it all back together.
  11. It was $185 exact i think for one cam and the followers to be re faced. I took just under 2 weeks for the lot. Just the work you've done to yours and the plans you have. Mines more of a panel and paint with a tidy up along the way. Im just getting it up to wof standard at the mo and may plan do a few big mods. Hoping to get it done in the school holidays. im busy sanding the car down and it seems a repititive stage but its all worth it.
  12. yours is comin along nicely. Havnt gone all out like that myself. Just want to get it lookin tidy and going well to start with then i might do a few upgrades. Iv'e already had my cam sent away to kelfords and with sending it up i got it back within 2 weeks. Had the followers done aswell. I got it sent up through my dads work which is a mechanics so that may have sped up the process. Cost just under 200 for the lot. I was going to go for the 205 r13's for the cortina but might just go for the 185's instead. the ones i have now are 185 and they look nice on the hotwires. that's about it for now. will be putting the sterring box back in it tonight as we ditched the auto one and all the old junk.
  13. painted the engine bay today, the photo's dont do the green much justice. it looks a shit load better to look at it for real than in pictures. this is without the 1k clearcoat so this is guna be one bright car.
  14. here's some more pics of the car. Has had 95% of all the rust holes removed around the boot where the seal goes and throughout the car. Minor things to do like change over the automatic to manual brackets in the engine bay and then primer the car in 2k. then its off to paint. Found the hole in the fire wall when i was strippng it out and the photo was taken after the hole was tapped in a bit. Looks as if a peice of something flew up under the guard and went striaght through. A good reason not to run over crap on the road. the hole is welded up now and at the moment my dash is being adjusted to house a triple 2 inch gague pod so shold have some photo's to post shortly of that. Feel free to leave any comments.
  15. An update- Car has been at the panel beaters for a few weeks now, have lots of photo's to upload as I've been helping sand it and do some of the work myself but havent had time to upload the photo's yet. I plan to get the guards rolled soon as I am getting some 205 50 R13 tyres to go on my 13x7 hotwires. Was thinking about the Yokohama radial 352 but seen them on hotwires and went off them, going for the Federal ones instead. Have taken the gearbox off the engine and it needs a new clutch kit and a few minor things but will get the full reco with new seals gaskets etc. Seems STA parts in Auckland is a very low cost option and have most of the stuff for the 1600 x-flow engine. One door needed replacing as it had a rust hole in the pillar but the joys of having a parts car is for that reason so the other one has been stripped and I took a rear cut of the Blue one as Im going to get it turned into a couch. Will post photo's soon hopefully.
  16. Havnt had anything to do with the Snow person you refer to.If I lived up north I would get it sent there but like to keep things local just incase something goes wrong. Im hoping to get a lump cam for it.
  17. I was thinking about sending the Cam away to Kelfords in Christchurch as i've heard they do a good job also. Yea just masked the handle and the centre bit and painted a few coats on then clear coated it so it wont rub off after time.
  18. I've seen it done with a few show cars and thought it looked real nice myself, I know most people would disagree but its different and at the end of the day its a mk2 cortina so regardless the colour its gota be a good thing ae. Just looking foward to getting out in it and cruisin. Yeah its spray can Tropicana green which ive gone through about 5 or 6 cans, you can get it from Repco, its a Dupli colour paint.Cheers good to hear feedback about it.
  19. here's the pics of the bits i've painted so far.hope to get the carb painted today and also some scuff plates and finish off the floor in the car.
  20. Pictures have come out shit so will post some good ones tomorrow. Will post pics of dash after i repainted and re upholstered it and my stereo console, gauge pods and gauges and other random painted bits.
  21. Hi Sorry Mk2 maniac but while i was looking for the chrome strips today i remember i gave them to my panel beater as a kinda of peace offering to soften the blow when it goes in to be panel beated as the guy who is going to work on my car also has a mk2 cortina. I do have a joiner tho i found one in my many boxes of bits.I'll have a second look but pretty sure I gave most of them to him as i didn't want them. Took my engine out today but didnt get have the camera with me.will post some pics in a week or so as the engine is at a mates place who is away for a week. got 2 13 x5.5 hotwires given to me the other day as spares with bridgestone turbo tyres on them with good tread so I'll tidy them up and see if they will fit in the boot. Just got to sand the floor in the white one as shes already for the panel beating. The white cortina is my good one as you can tell and the blue one was going to be my good one until i came across this good one for $400 and the other one was also $400 so I got the 2 for $800 and pretty much all the parts I need so its a quite cheap project really. My dads an auto electrician who knows a lot of people who have donated a few things and time to the car, my rust work was done by a good mate of his and a total of 22 hours of work was put into it with many a new panel welded in and an almost identical piece going into the wheel arch in the boot which looks pretty dam close to original. I managed to get another windscreen off trade me for $5.50 so that's my mock one for measuring up as its a bit scratched but saves me using the real tidy one. I picked up some nice mirrors from supercheap a few weeks ago as well that are a dam close style to the old cortina mirrors. have started to paint more little bits such as the ash tray and scuff panels so will post pics of them as i get them done.Any other pictures of parts or the cars that people are interested in let me know and i'll post them as i have taken pictures pretty much all the way through the process so far. Will take some pictures of more painted pieces that i have inside in a few minutes to show you guys.
  22. im pretty sure i put most of it aside but i think some of it was damaged before i took it off.I'll check for you today
