  1. Ive got a hilux rear wnd for my mk 1 and changing the fronts to 5 x114.3 as well. If you go to the workshop tech articlest heres a post i put up from another web site. Being a mark 2 it will be even easier than mine. May be i should update my project.
  2. Heres a pic of 15 x 8's on da oldmans mk 1. IMO i think they look tuff Im goin for 17 x 8's mind you [/img]
  3. have you tried heating it with an oxy/acetylene set? or tried the 'hacksaw blade' option?
  4. If your pins are as rusted in as mine were its not much fun to get them out. Tried a hinge pin remover, no go, punch, no go, gas set, no go, so in the end there was enough room (just) to get a hacksaw blade in and cut them out, took a while but got my doors off! Good luck, hope you have more than i did, think ill be bolting them back on!
  5. yeah mate, some people just cant handle losing an auction on trade me and the prices get outta control! pays to shop around.
  6. Got it from palmside in christchurch. Not sure if they have capri stuff but worth a try. Failing that try ebay uk, theres heaps of shit on there but the freights a killer, was 90 pounds freight for a front from england.
  7. Yeah will look mint once its on, might get some holes punched in it for better air flow to the intercooler/radiator. Cost $260 delivered from memory, retail for $225 + GST. Might as well go in blind and have a crack i spose, still making new fronts if it turns to shit!
  8. Just got myself a new front for the escort and was wondering if anyone had gone about this before? Any hints or ideas?
  9. Not much has been happening, seem to be to busy with work but have made some progress. Got a new front to replace the rusty old one, Finally started on the rear arches, got a good mig welder that goes down to 25 amps, so is ideal for panel steel. Also made some adjustments up front for the new intercooler and radiator. And finally my 4.1 hilux diff head, perfect ratio for the ca18det.

    4age vs ca18

What would you like to know about fitting a CA18 into an escort? Fire away!
  11. Depends on which version of the 4g63 your putting in,old starion donk or vr4/evo motor? Ca18s already setup for rwd, ca18s alot smaller than my evo motor too if rooms an issue.
  12. You only need to cahange the inlet cam, ca16 has a bit more lift and duration. CA18DET... (4 port intake runners, No emmisions)Compression 8.5:1 In lift - 7.8mm Ex lift - 8.5mm In duration - 240 Ex duration - 248 In opens - 0 BTDC In closes - 60 ABDC Ex opens - 59 BBDC Ex closes - 9 ATDC CA16DE.... (8 port intake runners, no emissions) Compression 10:1 In lift - 8.5mm Ex lift - 8.5mm In duration - 248 Ex duration - 248 In opens - 15 BTDC In closes - 53 ABDC Ex opens - 59 BBDC Ex closes - 9 ATDC

    Bolt Strength

the weld may have worked but probably left the cast pullet a bit brittle. best way to weld would be to braze it with oxy/acet with a slightly carbonised flame, i think thats what its called from memory. someone correct me if im wrong.

    Ford 8" diff

Do you want a hilux diff? Read my post in the worshop tech bit. I think i know where another rn 10-25 diff is. They are 1340mm and bolt straight in pretty much, front loading with heaps of ratios. Just let me know and ill see what i can do for you. Got mine for $150 off trade me. Awesome
  15. i posted the flow rates above but; GTiR turbo - T28 79 Trim, .86 A/R Housing 1990-1994 N14 Pulsar GTi-R Compressor Flow: 33 lb/MIN S 15 turbo - T28 60 trim 60 mm, ball bearing, Inco turbine wheel
  16. I thought that turbo sounded familiar, ive got it on my watch list!
  17. Yeah you can get garret specific kits to do this and theyre not cheap. $400 is cheap.
  18. GT2535 roller bearing (44lb@min) configured as a GT2535 (roller bearing) - this modification increases the flow rate of each turbo from the stock 25lb per minute to 44lb per minute, equating to a 75% increase in potential air volume. As these come from the Garrett GT series they provide an excellent broad power-band with exceptional good bottom-end (due to the ball bearings lag is marginal) you have much more punch in the mid to high range, suitable for street and track use. Hope that helps
  19. Try one of the 3M fibrewheels, looks like around bit of seaweed, seem to work really well and only seem take the paint offwithout heating metal.
  20. Yeah ive heard of the odd one throwing a leg out of bed, but its all due to one reason, dirty big turbos on tired engines with standard internals, other than that all ive heard is theyre a cheap reliable and revv happy engine compared to the expense of the sr. And i know where there is about ten ca's sittin. Cheers for the turbosport lihk.
  21. Cheers, i'll sleep much better in da knowledge i dont have to fear for my life! Its amazing what can be done when you put the bottle down.....well for week days anyhow. Got myself a mig now so should be all go, as long as i dont reduce the escort to a molten blob!
  22. or these ones i found on e-bay could be alright. bit cheaper. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/FORD-ESCORT-MK1-MK2-RS2000-BIG-BRAKES_W0QQitemZ140102879258QQcategoryZ29700QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  23. Have a look here; http://www.hoppers.com.au/complete%20leaflet%20FEB%202007/index.html
