I was there.................. late.
-
Thanks Leon and all the other people who put the effort in!
Wicked track day! It is the ultimate deadline for getting our cars ready for an annual cain round the track.
-
Haha Vectras are awful!
I used to work for Avis and Holdens are there main cars.
Engine went hard though.
-
True if its to big you will lose the bottom end torque and be slugish low down.
Do some research on what those UK guys are running.
-
If I was doing it again I would be going for the largest 2.5" straight through packed center resonator that I could fit under the car. After that possibly a straight through final muffler with a slight offset in it.
-
I made a 2.5inch exhaust for my car which is 2lt NA made it go way harder in the top end and makes it more rev happy.
I brought the 2 Mandrel U bends, 1m straight pipe and a packed center rensonator. With a straight through final muffler.
So if you have got a welder go hard its not too tricky.
Its quite loud though (sucks a bit on the motorway even with a 5 speed), a deep sound not a tinny one as some may expect.
Never had trouble with a WOF but.
-
Second though I wonder if you can get a sub board put in for the extra injector drivers.
Probably not as bad as it sounds in practice as 8 and 6 use them.
-
True I didnt know that about the injectors.
Only one solution, buy two link g3's.
So for the second injector is the fuel wasted or does it just injected before the second cylinder intake valve(s) open?
Do you know if Haltech run the same sort of setup?
Suppose you wouldnt lose much at high RPm because its all happening so fast.
-
Cheers,
True those link ecus are the pricey center piece.
They only used to be $800, but the new g3 has 4d mapping what ever that is.
Supposedly good for the itbs according to link tech.
-
-
Hey with the itb's what sensors are you runnin?
Does the 20v itbs already have the TPS sensor on them?
Whats the cost like on the intake mainfold?
Im keen to do the same thing for my strada aye.
-
Haha I took that pic, its from the Domain Hill climb 06.
Dam those are pretty cool wheels, they look way better in the gun metal grey color..................boe.
Get some new pics up of the grey 130!
-
Staceys 130tc's done that, broke the flywheel into two pieces.
Cracked a perfect ring around where the flywheel bolts bolt up.
Nothing too major, just went bang and stopped.
Make sure you torque the flywheel bolts tight! It sucks when the flywheel comes off, speaking from experience.
-
Sweet, did they have one for the Fiat Strada/Ritmo?
-
Haha Im not entering, my friend is.
Look out for him, in the same car as mine but the bumpers and skirts are black.
The car is literly the fastest car ive been in.
-
Carbies arent to bad there is a few sets on trademe $800 - $1000. Even saw some delorttos with a $650 buy now, tempting but I want some thing thats been rebuilt.
For the efi im wondering if I can get away with the old link, after vistiting there website and reading the specs like boost control, shift light, etc. I dont need that shite. But then running old software? I dont know I will send them an email to get some quotes going.
Stacey told me about the targa, when is it? I will take the Strada down. WOF expires on the 15th though, I hate getting WOfs! Always an arguement, "na thats standard!" or "its always been that low".
This guy almost failed me because I only have the front seats in when it was registerd as a 5 seater on the friday afternoon before I was racing at night speed!
-
Yeah I know what you guys are sayin the 45's suit the nature of the car, as it came with sidedraughts and they are not user friendly especially in the morning, but they are mean as at full noise.
Sidedraughts are by far the easy option.
Haha then there is the age old debate of Delorttos or Webers?!
Quad Throttles from the Blacktop 20V are 45mm also, but after look at the throttles there injectors sits right out the way of the air flow when compared to carbs. So Maybe they have better flow? Probably minimal.
The appeal is that its slightly different which is sweet (all the benfits of EFI). Plus if I do chuck some on with the original air box they look very simlar to the carbs.
Sidenote: Solex 40mm sidedraft rebuild kits are almost non existant, but this guy has them on trademe if any one carb problems with there 20yr old Solexs.
Head is finnished, just waiting on bearings to arrive in the country.
-
I got a small dilema though with the induction.
Should I use 45mm Delorttos rebuild $500 each or go the Quad throttle bodies from a Toyota Black top?
The Efi would be a nice refinement but I might lose some character?
Hmmmmmmmm........
-
Cheers Terry,
I saw your new grey one on the turbo124 forum, looks cool.
I didnt even realise they come in light grey!
Is it fast? Fast as Staceys?
Im buildin up my spare engine right now, stripped down the block.
Mal's getting all the bearings and rings etc.. Arriving this month hopefully.
Head is finnished, not assembled yet thought. Should go sweet.
-
Yeah that sucks, I saw they turned it into a paddock.
Down at meremere my first time was a slow 16.6 when I had problems with a leaking accelerator pump in my carbs causing it to stutter abit on takeoff.
After that I fixed that problem and added a straight through exhaust which opened the engine up. I got 1000 more rpms at the top end.
I ran a 16.1 Still slow but faster than before.
Im currently building an engine thats simular spec to my mates strada which runs a 14.5. So I will have to see what happens.
-
If its red with a roll cage, thats a very fast one.
I got takin for a ride in it and got out shaking!
-
I think I know the one you mean, I talked to him once about it and how he lowered it.
Its cool but strange that anybody that has a strada knows almost everyone else with a strada. Plus every Strada owner ive meet is pretty cool and is happy if you have a look round their cars.
