Are you going to upgrade the driveline to handle more power?

Has twinplate clutch, Tremek TKO600, big beefy D Shaft ;-) with 1000hp rated CV joints, spool center for the diff (stops the cases blowing apart), weak part is the stock axles.

I'm already snapping axles when I launch aggressively with the hoosiers on.

Have been looking for a local solution but haven't found anything, and can't afford the $5.5k to import a set of Driveshaft shop billet axles / CVs / hubs for it. (yet)

Once Covid's over and shipping isn't ridiculous I'll look to import a set.

Meh youtube is free. I am quite content watching someone build an AWD billet block 1000hp FD without needing to over think his unique personality traits.

Cleetus seems pretty retarded too but hes good value.

    Cleetus is amazing!!!

Rob's half assery is the reason why I keep watching - like watching a train wreck: You know it's going to end badly, but you can't not look!!

Speaking of half assery, I've just ordered 4x2200cc injectors to add to my 4x2000s I've already got, plus a 3rd 044 pump for the FC.

Will finally be going for 500wkw - on a block that I rebuilt myself (with some guidance from a pro)

Will be a true Dahm moment  :bom:

"Hey, it looks like they must test run these crate motors" Ahhh, why do you say that??? 'There's a bit of rust in the cooling jacket..."

Indeed they do, and sometimes shit hits the fan and they ship the motors anyway...

For anyone buying a fresh crate motor, you should pull down and inspect prior to installation.

Separately, they aren't balanced all that well from factory. So if you're upping the boost or revs, best to get the rotating assembly balanced.

  4. Do it Phteven!!

    Never work on an RX8:

"New" clutch started slipping not long after lock down.

I thought to myself 'Surely I wouldn't have been lied to by a fellow member of OS'

And sure enough, pulled out the gearbox, and there was the almost brand new Excedy HD clutch sitting there...

    Covered in oil.

Rear main shat the bed and pissed oil all through the clutch and bellhousing.

All tidied up ~$1k later, but fuck me they are cunts to work on - clutch slave cylinder is between the top of the bellhousing and the underside of the floor of the car.

It's now sold pending comp test for new owner, such a lush car but not worth the hassle.

Apart from having looks only a mother could love, they're apparently a great chassis. Probably go great with an LS swap.  I still love the FD, but will never be able to afford one.

They are a great chassis, one of the best handling chassis from factory I've ever had the chance of driving.

Good bang for buck, a REW conversion would give them the power they need to be fun.

Would be keen for an ITR or ek9 or maybe even ep3 as a weekend backroad machine.. Part of the reason there are such a good drive is you can drive them on the limit far easier than you can a heavy awd evo /nissan / subaru and not die..

As far as rock bottom prices and future increase, i'd say mx5 and rx8 are 2 contenders likely to take off as some stage... Maybe even add mr2 to the list? Sure some will say too common and not cool enough but time will tell.

RX8s will never appreciate, they will just blow engines and get scrapped for spares....

Anyone using these Dunlop Direzza ZIII's  for normal road use on your toy?

    What about Bridgestone Adrenalin RE003's?

Ran RE003s on the front of my last drift car, would trade again.

Sticky, whilst not getting the 'tramlining' or 'tracking' you get with a semi.

Mighty Car Mods run them on a large amount of their cars and also rate them..

    No experience with the Direzzas.

And back to old mate - He's had a look at a few FDs now but can't seem to make up his mind.

Told him he should just buy my RX8 and be done with it - Got a rude response..

"fresh rebuild" - you gotta be ready for the 'Got receipts' questions

    lol

Have the receipts for the parts, but really, I'm not worried.

At the end of the day it's a flat 10 second car with time slips and vids of the runs. If anyone tries to low ball for no receipts for the rebuild I'll ignore them.

Rebuilds are cheap if you do the tear down and prep work yourself.

Might be an idea to take a video of engine being rebuilt and stamp the rotor housings with some kind of identiying mark

A mate of mine has engraved all sorts into his housings previously, but really, you can engrave anything on anything really.

I personally think your price is too low

A steal and will sell asap at that price.

A standard s5 that is tidy is listed for 30k which may be on the high side but a nice car

and another listed for 38k with way less power and mods

and a fd for 50k with also less power and mods

start high and go down from there?

It's a reg on hold track car, which I think reduces the target market.

Although, street legal with a full interior I think it's worth $40k

    But you might be right.

I cleaned the motor down on Friday, ready for reassembly, just waiting on new side seals & sump baffle plate to arrive, then I can reassemble.

Will list once publically she's all up and running.

Upgrades for the gtr coming ? haha

Actually, this is moving on so I can start serious work on the 20B build for the FD, I've neglected it for a year.

But as for the GTR, I'm going to tidy up the interior and exterior, then pretty up the engine bay.

Power wise it's at a nice level, but will be putting fresh syncros in the gearbox and replacing all the old suspension bushes.

  12. I've previously bought drums from Autostore.

Decanted into smaller containers and stored them on wood up off the ground.

Wouldn't trust it to last more than 6 months - I have a half full 2yr old drum sitting at my place.

AFAIK E10 will still be sold at the pump for the time being.

As Dellorto said, Llama sell it in 205L drums as well.

Aggrieves me as I'm looking to sell my car, but now will have to re tune it back to pump gas for the new owner and power will drop massively.

Yeah agree its not worth  50k.

Cool car and setup but wasnt agreeing with the price tag

Id say it's worth around $30k, although, WS Imports are bringing them in semi stock at that price level now.

  14. 16 hours ago, Dell'orto said:

How many are selling at those numbers though? 40k is an assload of money for an ok car. Though I see that white/red pearl thing sold for 30, wth

Yeah, the colour put me off, old owner had it looking way better.

Just shows what instagram fame can do to the price of a car.

Holy crap, $50k for Tylers car?

I would be happy if I got $35k for mine, and it's got another 120wkw on that.

Not street legal though, so I suppose it's a niche market.
