When I was an apprentice my work was a dealer for fuelstar units

I think I've still got one somewhere

Cletus, a very well known person in your line of trade once said "What have you done to my car?" when a fuelstar was installed on his pinging MG.....he spent a large amount of time bagging the product as it was installed before his very eyes....one trip up the road and quickly back to his home in Waiau Pa had him red faced with confusion....all his peers and buddies had convinced him the Fuelstar was a fraud.....

So back to this Morrie I have

In its history report it it was dereg in 2014.

It had a pre registration check in 2016.

It has a vin plate on it, I assume from that check.

Will I need to go through pre registration check again? Or is the vin still good?

There's no record of it having any further reg inspection that I can find anywhere, I couldn't find it on ltsa flagged vehicle page (tho it only had one Morris in it flagged for flood damage). Doesn't say failed inspection in the carjam report

Is there any way I can find out if it did go through an inspection and if it did fail on anything?

There's plenty of information on importing and flagging an American car, but nothing for re-registering a car already here.

Do you have a link to the LTSA flagged vehicle page? Had a look and couldn't find it.....

  3. Do we have a bolt supplier who has a reasonable selection of oddball fasteners in stock? Weirdo heads, odd shank lengths/widths, military spec - blah, blah, blah.....yes, I know Steelmasters and the like, just thought somebody might have a corner shop that specialises in outside the square as far as bolts etc are concerned....

@flyingbrick Did you make your own luck bro? How come there are more holes showing in that caliper bracket when its mounted on your diff than when they were laying on the carpet? Did that center hole have to be made larger also? I have no small bearing ends here to check so had to check the BW against specs stated by aftermarket. It might be doable but its certainly not bolt on. Just saying from what I can glean from what i have and what I read. The bolt holes are near spot on but the bearing on the small Ford is larger than the BW and then there is the brake offset thingy. ( I actually measured and guessimated that a 13mm wide spacer might make it all work but then its only a theoretical guess) Would like you to clarify things for me so I am clear on matters. I still reckon its an urban myth for the most part but need (lol! - Need) to know the details. Its a passion of sorts.

Steelie Gears sell the spacer you are talking about (or they did - but Rat will tell you to go EA brakes nowadays)....and yes, these brakes will direct bolt to a small bearing 9" with the spacer.....word is, if the handbrake mechanism is seized on the calipers, be ready for a fight....

  5. if you're worried about sucking oil back into the combustion process, put an air/water/oil separator off a compressor between the pcv and the intake manifold to collect excess fluids....it will also indicate the health of your engine at a glance

  6. the three pack of aerosol crack test kits are 1 - a cleaning agent which can be substituted by buying a can of brake clean or acetone. 2nd can is the dye penetrant - it can be substituted by mixing food colouring with acetone to make a very light penetrant to get inside the cracks. The third can is an aerosol white powder that dries to the component it is sprayed on. I wonder if you ground up the centre sandwich section of gib board if that would work to create the powder.

If you have any cracks the food colouring will show up through the white powder as it is absorbed. So first clean, then food colour (wipe excess off), then powder and you'll know......pretty sure you could get all those ingredients over in the Chathams

Depends what it is. If something was certed, and that has not been modified any other way since, and the re cert was for a different aspect of the car, then the previously certified bits don't have to be changed to meet the rules of today. However if something shouldn't have been certified the first time, we have to fail it.

    Example

Little Johnny has a cefiro certed for adjustable suspension, an rfb20det and camouflage door cards.

Johnnys 20det got a case of the nungers after racing his mates s14 so he put a 25det from a honestly not stolen r33 that his mate jayden got off Facebook marketplace.

If we do a cert check for Johnny and his suspension is all the same as the previous cert plate, but it has a little bit too much camber, because it was certed prior to that being a requirement, then we don't have to fail it, or the camo door cards.  We just have to check the engine.

However little Johnny has cut and welded his steering arms shorter with his uncles gasless mig for more hectic drifts . Johnny claims it was like that last time it was certed. This was never allowed so that would have to be failed, even if the previous cert covered it.

Wordsmith level 9 there Cletus....love your work....
