  1. Looks like his is a 1978, might not be the same hubs. Plus his looks too nice for parts. I need a rotten one to pillage parts to see if I can make the hubs and disk brakes work, found this blog thing saying they do: http://n600sedan.blogspot.co.nz/2014/03/brake-caliper-rotor-conversion-1972.html But driveshafts don't, so would need to work something out there. I wonder if accord or shuttle stuff would work?
  2. I had sent a join request for the NZ Honda av/as/at/aa group about a week ago but never got a reply/acceptance thing. Guess they don't like my face or something. Joined a couple of other N360 groups and early Honda stuff but mostly overseas.
  3. Does anyone know if a 1979-1983 Civic rotting away around Wellington?
  4. Jeez... basically a engine with some semi N360 looking panels around it.
  5. Can you tell me if there is any issue with having a motorbike engine conversion in a car with a chain driven fwd diff? And on a similar vein, can I cut out the firewall to make space as long as it is boxed in and welded nicely?
  6. I found a guy who used old civic hubs which then worked with later model calipers, i think that is why the 13's were needed. 12" tyres must be hard to get tires for these days?
  7. Cool to know about the mini flares! I had some nice wide ones on a clubman ages ago which looked nice. That was with widened 10" steelies, pretty sure you can't do that anymore. I reckon converting to 4x114.3 using early civic hubs would be a good option. Would need to run 13" wheels though, which might look a bit strange. Any idea what kind of power that Ausy N600 made? They were 36hp but apparently they were detuned from 45hp.
  8. Bugger! 5min would suck... I've been through the pain of redoing the wiring in my 200sx/1jz thing so hopefully this would be no worse...hopefully. I do like the idea of modifying the 360cc, there is very little info out there. Perhaps its not a great engine for that. 27hp out of a 46year old design 360cc isn't bad, so there probably isn't much more in it.
  9. The K1200GT sounds like a nice torquey engine, I had a look at some photos and being such a wide flat engine it may fit width wise but it looks like it would be too long if you were thinking as a rwd option. I think the reason the R1 works so well in fwd format is its compactness and the location of the sprocket works well with fwd sprocket diffs. I might need to take the engine out for rust repairs so I could do some proper measuring then. How did you find the r1 in the Imp? It must need a decent amount of revs and clutch slip from a standing start? I've seen clutch upgrade kits so there is an option there.
  10. Haven’t seen that one, do you have a link?
  11. If rwd it would be converting a sprocket to a driveshaft flange eitherway, the difficult bit is have the engine fit and have the output in a spot that works. Also harder to have reverse. i think I could fit an r1 since they are a compact inline 4, then chain drive to a fwd diff like they do on Mini’s in the UK. I’ll need to do some measuring to see how much room there is for the fwd diff though.
  12. Yep must be the same Frank, he’s been awesome.
  13. After doing some research on that VFR800 build it won't be possible on a right hand drive car, even if I were to make it rwd using a live axle to replace the beam axle rear. The driveshaft goes through the firewall where the pedals are on a RHD car. Boo. I've email LynxAE to find out how much their fwd sprocket LSD diff's are. Another option might be to modify a Civic diff, that way I can use bigger civic shafts and hubs/brakes.
  14. I have spent far too much time thinking about options already, tiny car makes things hard but I guess that the point.
  15. I guess if 4 cylinders are forward of the grill?
  16. How do the pistons not atomise into oblivion?
  17. 15000rpm fck me.... 250cc might be a bit small, even though its a 20hp bump (even more than the big block N600's 36hp). I'm going by the assumption that 1000cc or even 1300cc bike engines are likely to have a gbox and clutch that would handle the extra weight better than a lighter less torquey jobby. A Hayabusa is a surprising 266kg, the N360 is less than double that but the bike engine will be lighter than the 360cc with it's semi car size gbox (a lot like a mini in the sump). The interior in really good, seats are nice but it could lose some weight there too. Rear quarter windows are flat so could easily use Lexan there. Maybe I could get it down to 450kg with not much fuss? Could also change the 10" steel wheels to some old 10" classic alloys and save little there. The boot lid is plastic, so its basically a race car already. .....getting ahead of myself. But it could make a cool autocross car with a good handbrake.
  18. R1’s seem to fit in mini pretty well so maybe that, ideally a Hayabusa. I found some measurement for one so it’s worth looking. I’d have to use a diff from one of the fwd mini kits like LynxAE. But rust and legal first.
  19. Hell yeah that’s awesome, no chance of fitting a v engine like the vfr because of the output location. Unless drastic rwd reengineered like that one.
  20. Could be an option, can you send me the details please?
  21. Hoping to get this rust free, legal then see what I think of the coke can capacity fury. Then ultimately motorbike engine fwd!
  22. Yay new project! Sold my AE82 FXGT so I bought this. 1972 Honda N360. Reg on Hold. Bad rust but I hope to be able to fix it. Run's pretty well, bad oil leak. Apparently rebuilt 1000km ago. Currently looking to get parts from Australia to help with the rust. Discussion:
  23. Z10?...ZeDtEnNN? Interested! There's two Z20's up the road from me. Cool cars.
  24. I remember seeing a guy on youtube do something similar with a non-vvti 1jzgte and SAFC II, I don't think he understood the percentages. I'm pretty sure he thought if you run a 50% bigger injector you have to set the SAFC to 50% too and wondered why it ran badly.
