  1. the ports on the 4age are quite large.....

in the case of the big port, too large on the intake side. the exhaust sides are the same from big port to small port.

as mentioned, you need to go quite mad to need port enlarging

  2. oh dear.

some things i picked up in between the drivel and words i couldnt understand....

    AW11 4agze were 8.0:1

    listen to grotty

4age belt works (i think its the blacktop one)

7a rods are fine, depending on use.... is it a road car? or a race car?

4agze pistons and stock 7a rods do weird things to compression, so work it out before you start

  3. didnt i just say i didnt know his budget?

please list engines that can make 300hp in n/a form with out having 20k spent on them and can fit in a ke3# and are a sensible option....

cosworth DFV isnt a sensible option

outlandish claims? yeah i dont know shit

and i also like men :lol:

  4. hehe things arnt adding up...

    n/a + 300hp + fitting into a ke3# = $$$$$$

theres very few n/a engines out there that can make that power, and fewer still when you take into account your bugdet... i dont know your budget but i bet it wont extend to a 355 V8!!

imo id be looking at a beams 3sge or the honda s200 engine, though they are not cheap....

a 1uz in a ke# would turn out like a drag car.... youd need a half chassis!

  5. i think youl find its the chrome itself is brittle, so anything that can felx runs the risk of the chrome coming off. so yeah spring = bad idea i reckon.

other thin to watch is chrome on areas such as inside a bush housing or in an area that could flake in to a rose joint

chrome partcles are abrasive, so if you chrome say inside a suspension are bush seat, it can flake and chew the bush.

or in the case of a rose joint flog it out.

as for actual strength on the arms themselves... theres rather a lot of hotrods, bikes, custom cars etc etc out there with them done....

iv never heard of it weaking parts.

  6. Now thats an idea I like. It took Toyota more than 20 years but they finally realised changing from rwd in ae86 to fwd in ae82/92 was a bad idea.

Its funny how they are trying to trace it back to the ae86. Abit of a sales ploy aye, they might aswell call it the Toyota Initial D

HAHHAHA!!! thats the funniest thing iv read in a long time!

better go tell all those millions of ppl that bought an ae82/92 it was a bad idea!

oh and someone else said something about it having less power than the original ae86.... go find me a factory issue bluetop with the claimed 128hp

having said that, the 2nz isnt the best choice!

and good luck trying to build a 4 seater under 1000kgs....

itll be awesome if it happens, but dont hold ya breath.

  7. when desiging a cage, go sit by ya car, and visulise the bars and load paths. imagine where the stress occour, and wear you shift them too with bars.

you have to be careful, remember the pictures of the GT40 and GT4 celica on a recent thread here? the GT4 had a full cage up to the firewall, transferred all stress from rear suspension forwards to the firewall, cage didnt go through the firewall. resulting in cracking to the point they almost didnt finish

get a copy of the MSNZ manual, and read the rules and look at the diagrams there.
