My car is pretty original though so I'm not sure how most of the other guys on here would get on. It also depends who you speak to as one person told me the Capri wasn't a classic so wasn't entitled to cover. Then rang a couple days later and spoke to a real nice girl who had a classic falcon. She was all for it.
under ami's guidelines a capri would not be a vintage/classic usually but as you said it depends who you speak with, i personally would not cover it on a vintage policy. but rotaries im all for
thats redicilious.. it's over 25 years old.. it's a british sportscar with a racing pedigree. It's a classic through and through. If some bitch told me a capri wasn't a classic car I'd probably slap her
yeah so? it is a classic but the thing is the policy isnt for cars that are of that era, it is for cars that are older then that hence the vintage part of the name. don't think the policy has changed much in a while, so once the guidelines change then im sure it will fit straight in, without having to argue your reasons why its a classic. also got to remember the people who make the decisions arent car guru's like most of you old farts

I think AMI also do a vintage policy option where they also insure all your car parts, spares, and tooling as part of the car insurance. I didn't take that option though, seems silly since your house olicy should cover it. RXOCSM does that sound right? Does house and contents cover automotive components which are stored?
Generally it won't, none of my stuff is covered by contents as car parts are meant to be covered under the policy for the car they are attached too. You can get speacial cover for parts etc but I haven't really investigated it much.
Callum
car parts do not come under a contents policy and you only have cover for up to $1500 worth of tools under a contetns policy with us, which is more than some others.
but car parts are not cover at all unless attached to the car is my understanding

rxocsm, which company do you work for?
ami

Yeah RT is right. AMI's insurance is pretty good for classics and no mileage restrictions but must be intended to be a rare weekend car. Requires valuation form a car club too. Good savings to be made and good cover. Also the premium drops too, and i started on it when I was 21 so age isn't an issue.

AMi has classic car insurance, it's like 1st party but only 30 bucks more than 3rd. And there is an option to keep your vehicle and get paid for repairs to fix it yourself.
Good luck if youre under 25 though.. lol
yes this is true, but the car has to be old enuf to be considered a vintage/classic needs to be original condition and only used on rare occasions ie a meet or an odd weekend. there are no distance limits but yeah useage has to be about once a month

mates 808 got hit by a bus got nothing. back on the road 3 years after getting hit after finding a new rear quarter
-
cheers for the comments apart from stephen

you can get a valuation for any price you'd like if you know the right places. if you want your old car even looked at for what its worth get a valuation. work wont touch my rx7 without a valuation just cos its worth ten times more than our book value pfft
-
your right tho you do stand to lose a bit of money in the old cars cos most companies only do market value, but we do an agreed value
-
guess you got to be good at something
-
you should be ashamed stephen, bloody orklanders
-
take that back
