Well that was short lived...
driving a long the motorway making blow off value noises.... waiting at the lights at the off ramp with the clutch in... release the clutch and it seems gearbox has locked up... manage to push it to a traffic island (with the help of an Impala driver).... sigh....
off to google the symptoms now...

so it's all done, bar some tidying up...
have taken it for a proper drive this morning, and probably barely used more the 1/8th throttle, it feels fast... pretty pleased

beetle stuff? OG bumpers?

so the last piece of the puzzle arrived this morning... programmable ignition, should work a bit better than a locked distributor

is it four stroking? how clean is the filter? have you changed the exhaust or anything? maybe the jets are out?
-
Yea Jeff, sure am. I defintately went to a motosoc track day with a black vr6, so that was probably it, I went to a few of them though.
And VG it will be up for sale before the year is up.

bring to drag day for "too new for OS daily ute" battles?
-
there were not stupid theme builds, just (actual) bolt accurate restorations - however all other aspects are the same/or far worse as the other American shows...

you might enjoy Graveyard Carz then, they go into a little detail about factory marks and assembly flaws... though be warned the characters are the most annoying people in the known galaxy

and disc brakes, for the love of god man!
why does everyone tell me that?
-
wait, VW's aren't allowed at the track?

Spotting leaving Ferrari service centre in Ellerslie, a 2012 Enzo. left hooker rego Italy. Want!
I saw that in there yesterday, made me pause on my lunchtime walk....

My first ever track day was an OS track day... and is something I would totally recommend to others...
It is probably the most relaxed environment of any track days I've been to. I've been to other days and shared the track with V8 super tourers, give me an OS track day any day...
I think we had communal fish and chips off the back off the back of a ute for lunch....

so in a little more detail...
currently has screamer pipe, might be legal this far back?
also has muffler, but I also have a dump pipe to replace this with when going to the track
has fuel pressure reg and guage in the crappiest place ever - but kind of works
has a wide drop sump, total oil capacity is about 6l now, also provides a handy return point for post turbo oil
also has a proper oil filter, first time I have had one of these on a vw
it also has one of these bolted underneath...

for now, I've left the stock 1300 box in will not last long (might not have even lasted the drag day)... when it blows I will replace it with another stock box (should cost about $200) but will get a proper one built at some point complete with LSD (Quaife)

all fitted in, with an additional oil cooler and fan, no cuts to the body...
however a test run with out boost at this point has revealed a leak between head and cylinder... fixing this means removing the engine and getting the head fly cut... which means the new engine won't be debuting at Meremere next weekend )-;
