If your looking for that amount of power dont use the RB30 gearbox, they are the weakest of the Rb boxes.
yeh ive been told that
but it will do for now and ill just upgrade it when it f@#ks out.
or if i find one cheap will im building it.
cheers

well the plan now is.
ive been looking at a vl comodore that has a rb30 and its manual.
so im going to put the vl frontend in witha bit off modification use the vl diff just cut everything off it and make my own 4 link set up.
and use the rb30 and turbo that. i would like to get over 500hp at the wheels later on so thats why im wanting to do all this now.
cheers

what a f@#kin beast looks finished to me
-
thanks guys
i had a mate ring me last night that has both a toyota motor in his garage
and a skyline motor in his um..................skyline
i had a real good look at both and as moch as the tpyota is cheaper
the dimentions of the rb are almost perfect fo what i had in mind.
plus the rb exhaust is on the side i will need it to be.
so the plan is a complete even fuked vl commodore as i want the front and rear end. and like you guys have said i can use the motor to mock it all up.
and even if i start of with a rb20det then i can always change it later down the track.
once again.
cheers

id just buy a copmpletely fucked engine and box, take out/throw away pretty much everything other than sump, block head, cam cover, and gbox housing.
it will be light as to lift in and out easy, but you'll still be able to make all your mounts etc with it, then bolt in whatever actualy engine your using
fully agree. rb25det in a escort thats gonna end up as bad as clark procters "ROLLUP"
na it will be sweet
ive had escorts with 2lt,v6,v8,4.1 falcon motor,
so it will be cool just wanted the dimentions so i can compere to the
dimentions of the toyota 6.
cheers
-
ok guys
i going to stick a rb25turbo in my escort
but befor i make the unkindist cut of all and
and cut the fire wall and tunnel out i want to know
some dimenstions.
like the *
*length on the motor from the two furtherist points.(think its about 700mm)
*distance from the front of the motor to the engine mounts.
*width of the motor from the outside of the intake manifold to the outside of the turbo
*the width of the block
*the width of the head
*hight from the bottom of the block (not sump)to the top of the highist point.
if anyone can help me it will give me an idea of the fit.
cheers

hahaha
that just made my day i fukin love it.

In the southland times today there is a 1989 gtst skyline with slight frontal damage for $1200 ono. Ph 0272595325. Damn cheap! Could get the ball rolling for mya
i wish mate ive only managed half thats so far.
but ive had an idea some poeple will hate this but at the and of the day its my car so i was going to use vl commodore front end and diff so i think ill
just buy a whole vl with the rb30 use all the gear i need and use the motor do do the mocking up. then sell the motor and any other shit i dont need and get the motor i want.hahaha then its fuking yeha.
i know sound so simple a

its just that in the past when ive been building projects
i always had a pick a part on my doorstep and it was so handy
to walk in there with a tape measure and and get a heap of differant parts that might fit and it cost fuk all.
-
ive got one on trade me for sale its a 3.89
but its in chch .
if thats any good
-
hi all
is there anything like pick a part in christchurch.
cheers
dan
-
Yeah that would be good. Probably be enough in a wee car like the mk1......well for now anyway! Hows your build coming along?
slowly man if i had more cash left over each week id be
and you know how it is man i need things to do other things.
like i need a skyline motor and box so i can cut the wall and tunnel
and make new.(so if anyone has a motor even a fuked rb20turbo and box
i can use just do mock up the wall and tunnel pm me) but all in all mate its stripped and waiting
-
yeh man that thing is shit hot.
like Methodz100 said id pay $10g for it with the wheels.
if i had the money
and im not keen on the suicide doors,
but apart from that its a fukin bargin
cost more to build it.
-
sounds like a nice motor set up mate.
-
ashburton is wheel week - april
winchester is - may
mc lean is oct - 12,13,14
i go to mcleans island one every year on the fri and sat normally
is it good mate
heaps of ford stuff?
-
thats some nice work on the firewall mate.
what sort of pedal box are you thinking of using?
-
cheers dan. thanx for the encouragement! I got da intercooler off trade me. The dimensions are 450x300x76mm. With 90deg silicon joins it should fit perfect behind the grill.
The front panel is from palmside,
as for the bubblrs theyre another score off trade me. Will hunt out some old emails for you and maybe give you an address.
Fook me an RB25DET is a big under taking! Youll have to chop alot out of your firewall, and have about a foot long drive shaft! Heres some reading for you.

Good luck with ya build to mate, ill be following it closely, itll be a ripper if you pull it off! Just a couple of pics from this link.
thanks mate that was a ggod read ive put a 4.1 ford 6 in befor and they are huge and it was a bodge job to thrash around.
-
hay guys.
mate belive me if i had $10 +grand for a ford turbo six
i would get one
i use to have a alloy head 4.1 in a mk2 years ago
that was fuking mental.
was running escort drums up front hahahaha.
its got to be between the toyota or nissan 6
-
so these door pins on my escort are strating to f@#k me right off
im going to heat them up on the weekend and see if that helps.
-
so any way just up date
ive fully stripped the car aprt from the doors.
i would like to get the shell sand blasted befor i carry on.
and i will need a motor and box so i can start cutting
the fire wall and tunnel to make the new ones.
so i was thinking about a sr20 and then i thought about small block v8
and then the one i would like a rb25 det untill i was told that the ijzgte
was cheaper . so im still yet to decide and save
cheers

just to get back on track this topic isnt about me.

1JZ FTW!!!!!!
what?
-
and im have such a problem picking amotor.
its between small block v8,sr20det,or the one i think ill end up going with
rb25det.
but mymind changers all the time.
dan
Have you considered going with Toyotas 2.5L 1JZ-GTE. It is a better engine that the RB25DET and is cheaper at the moment too because of the Nissan drift buz. For abit of inspiration as to how good it looks and fits in older stuff; http://www.oldschool.co.nz/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=9806
Ps, sorry to thread jack QCADTA.
yeh ive thought about it but i didnt know that they are cheaper .
thats a good thing.
-
sweet. thanks guys.

so just to up date.
i havnt done much just got the doors off with a lot of heat
and a FBH
i stripped out both doors to just the shells and there is little to no rust in them so ill just strip all the paint and pimer them and put them to one side.
ok so the BIG PLAN ive been thinking about motors and looking around with my tape measure and doing some calculations and here it is
im going to buy a vl comodore rb30 manual.
i will use the complete front end and modify it and the front of the escot till it all fits and use the vl power steering rack so that will be 5 stud front with bigger brakes and the rb 30 will bolt in.(and ill turbo it)
next ill take the vl diff cut all the shit of it and if its not disc ill change to disc and make up my own coilover 5 or 6 link setup so thats 5 stud rear with discs all round.
then ill cut the complete gearbox tunnel gear box mounts and drive shhaft tunnel out and wield into the escort and just go from there.
i will have to drive the vl for a while till i can aford another car so most of this will be later this year.
but like i say this is the plan
fukin yeha i finaly know what im going to do
