And you will get your money back selling parts easy

So the car has pretty much been all sold.
*Motor is going into an escort.
*loads of parts are going to others to keep other st170s on the road
*and the rest of the car is going to palmside to be a race/rally car ....so thats awesome.....no waste

I've bought the car back and will be parting it out if anyone is after anything

Would it be worthwhile swapping mechanicals into a normal spec one?
normally I might be tempted. (ESPECIALLY if I found a mk1 wagon)... but its my daily driver so I need another one...
So if I can buy it back cheap enough I will and part it out.
Buy a cheap reliable daily and now I have 1 daughter about to learn driving and 1 not so far away from it it can also be something for that ...and use the rest of the money to get my mk3 legal

check with your insurance company if they can get a post incident valuation. ive had that in the past when i had an accidentally under insured car. i didnt even have to pay for it, though i also wasn't at fault.
Yeah ill see what happens this week.
It was hard enough getting it insured for what it was as they could only go off a standard mk1 focus and wanted to insure it for $1800 and at the time there were none for sale in NZ to compare to (they couldn't even see that ment something).
So ut insured for what I payed for it (won't be able to buy another one for that .). But if I can get it back ..then ill part it out

Been a while and I have been pretty shit about up loading on here. .
But the car is running and driving it is still on a factory motor (apart from ARP head studs) she is running 10psi at the moment and is happy with it..
We are still road tuning and she not legal at the moment ...but I have taken her to a bunch of meets and to work a few time... (its a fun car Lol).

Well its all come to an end.....
Thanks to some dickhead not watching where he was going ..
Cut across the carpark and drove straight into me... I seen him and stopped he didn't and ....he didn't.
Nothing wrong with his car .... but the damage to mine ..is enough for ut to be a write off..(bent chassis rail).......pretty gutted..
I am insured and he has accepted liability....but it wasn't insured for enough to buy another st170.(I will be buying it back if I have the chance).
But for now ... I think ill just buy a cheap daily car thats reliable as I now have 2 teenage girls that are about to start kerning how to drive ...and ut can be something they can use aswell ..
RiP.....
by the way ....none car people DO NOT get it ... sometimes a car is not just a car and they do have a special place within.

Have put a single mass flywheel from Uk on mine.Clutch was always high, now soooooo much better. Hate dual mass!
Have you had problems with your cluster. Had cluster checked, OK, replaced sensor, checked fuses. All the recommended things, still works when it wants.
You seem to have fixed all the same things as me, IMRC, throttle control. Temperamental child it is but lovable.
Yeah I'm not a fan of the clutch .
My clutch lights don't work some times but I turn it off and they come back on fine.
Just done the fuel pump and that seems to of sorted some fuel surging issues out.
Just done the came belt, water pump and tensioners. At 205000 ks.
Apart from that yhe car is looking ruff these days .the canterbury sun has destroyed. Out of the clear coat. But I daily drive it and I still love it.
Plan on redoing the clear coat one day.

Going to space up the rear of the bonnet with some washers to allow some heat out the back as well?
Can't remember bit are you going to coat/wrap your exhaust setup?
Bonnet vents look good in my mind
cheers man.
the headers have been coated..we actually put a model of a mk3 in a wind tunnel .. just on the internet one night while having beers.. and there's a low pressure area right at the back of the bonnet and it will actually restric air coming out. (I know I've got some real needs as mates lol). but at the half way make on the bonnet like where they are and the factory cosworth as well as evos and heaps of other cars ... the air going over the bonnet helps pull the heat out.. (that's my understanding of it.....I was drinking ...they were explaining)....... even though lifting the rear of the bonnet was my 1st plan.... probably not now.

so this car is going to be carted for a 2.0 turbo ....one way or another..
the engine bay Temps were crazy when I had it running (without the bonnet)..so there is a need to get some under bonnet Temps out and I understand its not everyone's cuppa tea.... but I needed some vents...... and believe me I looked at all of them ....everything alliexpress had to offer lol. .
but I ended up going ford .... cosworth rs500 vents.... and not no real ones as I'm cheap .....and even these weren't...
also really limited to where to mount them without cutting heaps of under bonnet strength out...
worked out perfect... even around the head sheld

well the old girl is 20 this year ...
and just hit 200,000ks today... bless.
I've been getting some bits together for a bit of a refresh.
front and rear shocks, cam belt and tensioner, water pump ,cam.and crank seals, cam cover gasket ,...
might even sand the roof back and re do the ckear coat
think I might find a cheap blacktop zetec and start putting together a turbo zetec for her.... and put the st170 lump under the bench............... this will be later on down the line

paid a bit of stupid tax today .... not financially but definitely in time and effort..
PK from kennally cams message me to say "can I suggest we Crack test the head before you start porting" with this pic.
and to be fair a good mate (who i listen to about ponto heads )has told me a few times ...."just make sure you get the head Crack tested before you start.....
guess what I didn't do...
so I spent a few hours after work today looking at what I have...
* found 1 all ready stripped head
*2 complete heads (stripped them both).
*1 complete motor (pulled the head off and stripped that).I'll drop these off on Wednesday and see if I have a good one to start all over again with.
cheers

I've been doing a few bits... the problem I have is everything is so clean now it means everything this g else needs to be clean or remade....
factory washer bottle..........
NO. so I bought a alloy one for a torana... blocked the bottom hole off and drilled a new on on the side.
a couple of rivnuts into the fresh paint and ....much better.....also mounted the catch can back on.
the old fuse box hole ...i was going to weld it up.. but for some strange rrason if you wanted to go back to the old fuse box.... you can.. so I cut some alloy (polished it) and a rubber gasket. and that taken care of.
then the header tank.... ( yup more wanky wanky polished alloy)...180sx header tank....perfect.
I ran all the wiring on the driver side and a new old stick speedo cable.
I got my dad to come and give me a hand to get the windows in...(new rubbers suck ....1st time I've ever used new ones).... I did order some chrome center locking strip for the winthis from the uk ....via youshop... fuckers!!!!! what turned up Is a 2nd hand ladies long sleeve black shirt ... not impressed....didnt even fit ...so they arr looking into that... but front and rear windows in for the 1st time since 2006.
I didn't want to use the quick shitty heat sheld I made ...
so I took the time to use card and make a new one....even made it line up to the center plate that sits behind the motor for the header hoses...... and yes I polished it...(just that side....painted the other side in high temp engine gloss black........niiiiiicccccçce).
other shit .....
only put the reg on hold for 3 months this time... , head is off being skimmed ( will be using the standard cam for now....actually pretty good on a rurbo motor)... ,some more bits arrived for the motor ..so once together I'll slap it in my nephew's mk5 with standard carb ,exhaust and dizzy to run the motor in.. (it's legal and I'll just run it to work for a couple of weeks)...
cheers
