I am sure I saw that same cab at the Vintage car club swap meet at Manfield in Oct 2015? It was just the cab and a radiator grille from memory. I was pining.

Yes, classic bikes (over 40 same as cars) are eligible for classic rego and much, much cheaper.
my 1976 Kawasaki KZ650 = about $50 a year
my 1980 Kawasaki KZ650 = about $500 a year
There has been speculation whether the classic rego is based on year of vehicle or year vehicle registered in NZ. I can assure you its year of vehicle as I have reregistered a couple of 40+ bikes in last couple of years and they all qualified for classic rego due to their year of manufacture.

I love my tangs but I just can't come to terms with paying that money. A similar era Toyota or Datsun costs 20k less and likely just as fun. Is it purely a status thing now? (Like the thousands of people buying new Ford Rangers and putting 20s on them.)

20 years ago I had a mean as Sev paddock basher with a Porsche body kit, light pink primer haze and a 12A - bey.
Smoked 10x more out engine than the tyres. I have a picture of it smoking under revs somewhere.... The boyz I bought it from in Wainuiomata ran it without an oil cooler, just fed the oil line from front to back of block. Haha!
We had to permanently remove rear screen to prevent dying from carbon monoxide poisoning.
Some egg blew the clutch driving it while I was not there and neglected to tell me. Game over, sent to the crusher.

Any luck?

That's tidy! Do you plan on engine upgrade at some point?

Haha! I could fill this topic with the amount of cars I have pulled apart full of hope and dreams, only to sell without finishing and in several pieces.
Start with stuff you broke first I think. Epic fails and breakages due to strains on mechanical components

Gruntfuttock's project post about his broken cam offering to god of speed made me think it might be a topic idea.
Like Burt Munro - What offereings have you made to the god of speed? Pictures of your bent/thrown/broken/lunched parts......

Sorry fellas, but curiosity will never trump breaking the Privacy Act. According to consumer website, the highest recorded 'damages' amount for a Privacy Act breach in NZ was a $168,000.00 payout.
It makes sense when you think about it from their point of view.
How can they be expected to know the person asking details was telling the truth? Because their story sounds legit?
How could they be expected to know the difference between a legit person and cunning theif who gives the same sob story?
Bit rough they charge $15 to really only tell you the number of previous owners though.

Yeah it changed and of course they know. Now they weigh up your request as public interest vs the Privacy Act. In other words, only a govt agency detecting or investigating offences will get names/addresses, you are never going to get the details for reasons of curiosity.
Privacy Act breaches are now taken a lot more seriously and persons/companies that breach it are able to be privately prosecuted.
It changed in 2011 according to website below and you could effectively "opt out" giving less power for the Motor Vehicle Register releasing your info.
That is why some peoples details might still show but most will not.
The pros of change outweigh the cons. Thieves were paying $2.50 to get the registered owners address for cars they wanted. Marketing companies were also using it to blanket send spam mail.

Jealous man, I agree with others that original paint colour are the best possible. Love this car.

yeah na, you don't have to say 'as is where is' at all. There is no protection or exemption from law for using 4 words. There must be more to that one.

I love that it seems more and more often people think that small claims will bail them out of second hand item deals. "I no longer trust the engine" as a reason for going to small claims is laughable!!!! They will not even consider his claim if that is his reason.
The fact is, there has to be an issue with the deal as the only law they can rely on is the Fair Trading Act (Consumer Guarantees only covers brand new items.)
There has to be a "false representation" or they got different goods than what they paid for.
Second hand goods are second hand goods, caveat emptor (let the buyer beware) and this tips things in your favour.
Standard of proof for civil matters is "balance of probabilities" (which translates to 'more likely than not')
Unless they can prove (more likely than not) that you;
made a False representation (knew of a fault at time of sale or recklessly represented a fact about the item without knowing if it was true or not) then they don't have a leg to stand on.
Examples of ways they could prove you made a false representation (you 'knew' of a fault or recklessly represented a fact about the motor):
You admit you knew about the issue after sale is done (and not mentioned prior) * knew of fault
You mentioned recent engine rebuild and internally it has a lot of wear and original seals * knew of fault / recklessly represented
Engine advertised is different to one they received *recklessly represented
You sold it as an alloy head engine when its cast iron *recklessly represented
You tell them the engine was built by Burt Munro and used in his Bonneville world record run (and it wasn't) *recklessly represented
You tell them the engine was made in Japan and the engine is cast with "Made in Mogadishu" *recklessly represented
The fact that you videoed prior to sale is a great safety net.
eg I know someone that bought a 10A Rotary motor advertised as being "freshly rebuilt." It hot seized when starting the first time and it was pulled down and discovered that bottle caps were used as part of the apex seals. Well he got his money back from the selller thanks to small claims.
Don't lawyer up, it will cost you money for them to only give the same advice that is here.

I'd love to daily a FC, but would only have myself to blame if I walked out to the completely open, unpatrolled, security camera-lacking gravel office carpark after work one day to find it gone.
Yep, the decision to leave it at my flat over the weekend (while I was away) is still something that haunts me to this day (security paranoia.)
It had an alarm and the neighbours response to it was "Oh yeah, I heard a car alarm going off for about an hour but I just ignored it."

Sorry but this idle video trumps those other earlier attempts. Far crispier and gillier
Since there are some FC-fanboy discussions going on, here is my old 1988 S4 which was stolen from outside my flat circa 2001. Harks back to the days when 17's were huge/all the rage and a 640x480 resolution digital camera cost you $1000
Above photo taken with said Digital camera (that wrote directly to floppy discs - whoa!!!!):

Do love that gold sev and it's a great deal but LHD puts me off and others as well or else it would have sold immediately.
Whose got link to best sounding crisp ported Tanger on YouTube?

It would be interesting to know the true ratio of Mazda Rotaries in sheds as unfinished projects vs actually road worthy and driving
My bet would be at least 10:1
They have got to be the most common marque for 'project status' in NZ hands down.

^ What he said, ala Auckland housing market
Ahh to think, if only I kept my $500 Trade and Exchange special 616. Here is me looking cool at 17 driving with no seats outside a mates lock up.
Drove down to Wainui to collect from a questionable neighbourhood and drove it home to Palmy.
To think what could have been.....well I know, cause I know the guy that bought it a few owners later and still has it. This photo is 10 years old now, unknown current condition;
Bingo for Modgies, buckies, dumpies, gillies, bridgie
How about this rust free original S4 Capella I had?
Here is Crustywhip looking cool next to it. It was 100% complete and in excellent original condition (just with grille and front off in this pic) Why the hell did I sell this?!?!?!
Now I know this S4 definately has subsequently had a winner P-Plate (DPTHRT) It probably now supports a Candy paint job and completely recovered camo interior (despite it being near perfect but brown.)
So many car sale regrets. Sigh..

Spotted in Mana last week. Older more distinguished gentleman owner. Prob been posted up here before, cause it sure gets used. I have seen it in Palmy heaps too so may be from Palmy? Shes pretty well kept for a Levin that actually gets used a lot.

Cheers fellas.
Noticeable increase in noise and acceleration with baffles removed. I have put them back in though because it's loud enough and would be deafening at 100.
I went up 10 on main jet, did a few plug chops and it seems to have been perfect with smooth running. I did richen up the needle a notch and it did not run as well so put it back.

I concur with Chris, it won't be gear ratio.
Gotta be either carb or electrical. Fuel is easiest to sort so check it all out first. Something as simple as partially blocked carb jets or a lose earth connection can cause same symptoms.
Don't know what sort of carbs those Chonda Chinese knock offs have but if its a knock off carb as well - throw it in the bin.
The engine doesn't matter so much but the carb does, very very fine tolerances and decent manufacturing are a must for carbs. Ask anyone who has bought / tried to use a cheap knock off carb and you will never hear anything good to say about them.
