I'm definitely a 4mm of under garment bloke. Trousers around the knees I DO NOT UNDERSTAND...
maybe we all chip in together on this here forum and buy a plate press?
Or there must be someone on here has access to a CNC mill (and some spare time...) to whip up some stamps and dies. Then I could use the 40 tonne press where i did my trade yonks ago.

A nice 'Puce'
I think puce is like beige?
-
yep- 2500S was lovely. manual with overdrive and powersteering. heaven!
I digress...
My one day house will be a big garage with good veiw and a big sofa. sleeping upstairs above the rafters. work on car, put kettle on, sit on sofa, work on car, sleep, wake up, work on car etc etc....
-
cool- thats what i'll do then! snad the buggers down.
Or get some old plates from someone and buy personalised ones with the same number...but then that costs heaps that way....
There must be someone out there with the old plates stamping machine ?
-
Its the highest quality 5 mm ply that.............................
Was built onto railway sleepers. Withstood 4 British winters and counting... my old workmate has taken it over and moved in with their housetruck now that I'm back in NZ. Hes got his motorbikes in there.
Heres the build day - lots of beer consumed....
-
None of them are a touch on my shed....
-
Is there any where in NZ that still makes the original black and silver plates?
-
these are all near nelson! Shit loads of them. One big farm of mainly old fords. Its quite nice.
-
Yep- its an RX3 coupe and next to it is a very nice 808 coupe. Nearby a fiat 124 sport, 3 mx5s and these.....
-
Tis good clean fun- everywhere ya look theres another nice old jappa bombing past. wicked old trucks there too.
Oh...and cheap fruit unlike here!!!
-
I bought a fiesta oil pump and it didn't fit my kent- pointed the filter into crossmember. sold it back on ebay.
Most fiestas are 1100 so even the 1600 blocks for them are getting hard to find.

sweet- will have to stay in touch then!
Yeah- its actually A ford but the old dude selling it hates fords with a passion so removed the badges and rebadged it hino. Its odd as most old folk like him (80ish) would prefer a ford badge over a jappa badge eh?
Anyway- its really well serviced and a few years back had a full engine recondition at the tune of $10,000- drives sweet as- started on the button and runs so quiet!
Just bought this 2 days ago....
our new 'housetruck materials' hauling tool...
Toymota 2.4 diesel LWB, powersteering and selectable high/low 4wd. Coolio! Airconditioning too- but doesnt work...
Its soooo solid too- no rust.
-
wicked- thats what we want to hear about old hino's! I took it for a quick drive and the difference between driving that and our old bedford tk is like night and day! I have just got my truck learners and next week will get full.

So here is a selection of cars I have taken photos of since leaving Blighty... (edit- damn you photofuckit)
First off- FIJI...with some Fiji barryboy cars thrown in....
Onto NZ...this line up in Blenheim is where you put ya cars for sale on display. Hannah and I had just got back from a pushbike ride and we spotted these. BTW- our car is the lovely matt black 1984 Nissan 1.3 racing sunny with exterior mounted intercooler - been in our family since new and everyone has owned it and ragged it. mum now uses it as the dog car for the river missions. Its done a colosal mileage and still goes strong...for a 1.3...
nice capri...$5000..
Nice mk2 cortina...$4000...
And a mate Nelson who for a long time has had this hidden away...
A truck we went to veiw...nice old dodge but not long enough for us...
And a Hino that we are about to buy- 6 meter deck and lovely condition cab etc. Ideal for our next housetruck build...
Hannah was making engine noises....
Peace out

I got time now to browse the cars and just checked out your thread - WICKED CAR. I cant agree more with the others- its really nice to see original period colours being kept and that your not wreaking it to make yet another rx3!
What wheels are those last ones in the thread ? I love them.
An old series 3 rx7 I had in england came with a Hurley engineering twin SU setup- look it up on hurleys website. It went really well- very very smooth with none of the 'secondrys popping open' lurch that nikkis have- plus it was far more economical.
Some people laugh when I mention chasing economy on rotarys but it makes sense that with a nice setup you can have good smooth power but still get easy 30mpg. Especially with todays fuel prices.
that said if your going bridgeport......

sweet! Though i reckon the toyota vans etc i'm looking at buying are still cable operated speedos? unless we get something quite new.
Anyway- if its done correctly how satisfying that'll be!
For bigger engined cars surely LPG is the cheapest way forwards right now- so long as you dont mind losing boot space and having an ugly engine bay...
-
i'll be buying a diesel van once home- i too think removing the speedo out from back of head is good idea- done it in past on old bighorn. You just need to make sure you can put it back in place within a few seconds if ya get pulled...could make some sorta mechanism?
as for speedo- Fit a little cycle computer next to dash - i had cateye strada on my chevette and its good for up to 120MPH.

Fellas- dont complain about acc and a pissing little $150 a year rego- that aint anything compared to Europe!!!
For starters you dont have to pay compulsory insurance yet- wait till you do- then you'll be fucked!
Hannahs little sister has just passed her test and can get a car- cheapest insurance for a 1.2 litre car she has found yet is £1000 a year ($2300nzd).
If she were a boy you can double that! And you can completely forget driving anything bigger till your over 25 unless your stinking rich or your thick as and dont mind sinking a third of ya wages into insurance (and yet the little kids here do...to drive fucking saxos and corsas)
Because insurance is compulsory here in the UK (and they have just about to make it compulsory even if your car is off the road but without the rego on hold!) its bloody expensive as they have ya trapped!
Tax is $450nzd a year for anything with an engine over 1500cc i think.
Quite looking looking forwards to coming home to NZ with its piddling rego.
Not looking forwards to the bullshit certification crap though!!!

Is it that simple - that ya just spray the dry ice on and hey presto? or do ya still have to get in there with the scraper?
Never heard of it being done this way.
every days a school day!
