  1. Would have been better if they had sorted out 8MJ Kers instead of the 2MJ they have ended up with.

Also they were planning to deploy the kers to the rear wheels for maximum corner exit acceleration. Instead they are deploying that FWD as well so not quite as lush as it could have been/might be next year.

Their plan seems to be just try make it to the end of le mans this year, even they dont think it will be super competitive

I think there original plans were maybe a we bit ambitious for a first year project

I think just getting a couple cars to the finish would be a pretty impressive feat

  2. 2 week yawn fest barring the crashes TBH, this is a testament to the "excitement" levels of the racing.

Obviously you haven't watched the last few 500's

Last years was the closest finish in the races history

Drafting and multiple lead changes now really sure how that's not exciting............

2012 was pretty good as well till Sato biffed it

  3. How long have they done quali the weekend before the race?

    Sounds pretty contrived.

"In 2014, the qualifying procedure was refined, such that the pole position winner, and the starting grid would be determined over two days. On the weekend before the race (Saturday and Sunday), all cars are entered into a blind draw for the qualifying order.

Saturday: All entries can make up to three attempts to qualify. The top 33 cars at the end of the day are locked into the grid. The top nine cars will advance to a special "shootout" session to determine the pole position. Making a second (or third) attempt automatically forfeits the previous attempt.

Sunday: The drivers that qualified 10-33 on Saturday have their original times erased, and go out to make a new run. This run determines the grid lineup for positions 10-33. The drivers who qualified 1-9 on Saturday advance to the "Shootout." Those cars also have their original time erased. Each car makes a new attempt, and determine the lineup for positions 1-9, including the highly coveted pole positions.

For each attempt, cars are allowed two warm-up laps. At that time, a member of the team is stationed at the north end of the mainstretch. He/she must wave a green flag, signaling an attempt, or else the car will be waved off. The attempt can be waved off during any of the four laps by the team, driver, or INDYCAR. (The series will wave off the run if it is obvious the run will not be fast enough to qualify and it is getting late in the day.) If an attempt is waved off after the run starts, the attempt counts towards the three-attempt limit and the previous time is still forfeited, unless INDYCAR itself waved off the attempt because of weather."

Its the 500 its a two week event and probably the biggest Motorsports event on the calendar each year in Merica I think its dragged out like it is for Historic reasons

Plus you get a lot of cars that only enter the 500 so they need as much practise / track time as they can get e.g Dan Wheldon 2011

  4. Another crash from Ed Carpenter and this statement:

“This morning we saw a third car get into wall, turn backwards and lift into the air. We’ve said all along we want to go faster, but we want to do so safely. As a precautionary measure, INDYCAR will require that the cars qualify today in the same aero set up that they will run in the Indianapolis 500 next weekend. Also, for today, boost levels will return to race conditions. Given these changes, we have elected to not award points for today’s qualifications."

    - Mark Miles, CEO of Hulman & Company, parent of INDYCAR and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

    Pretty fair decision TBH

The Chevy Aero is obviously right on the limit, apparently the rear wheel covers don't help with keeping the car on the road once they go sideways and actually promote lift

Boost reduction was worth about 40hp

Helio had gone the fastest they had gone since 96 in practise over the weekend 233mph

Lets hope Scott can repeat 2008

  5. if your crashing on a course effectively by yourself where all you have to do is turn left, there is serious issues either with the drivers skills or the cars design.

Oh and fuck me those cars are abominations

TBH There way more skill to driving a car at 230 miles an hour around an Oval than you'd think

Plus once they go to Oval spec Aero and up the power and remove the downforce

    There just pushing the limits

  6. Pretty boring race TBH

    Britney got his victory finally

Hamilton appears to have been off all weekend

    Mercedes again dominated

Good to see Williams pick up a bit of pace and give Ferrari a bit of a challenge for the next best title

Now for Monaco where anyone is in with a chance

  7. Interesting qualifying

Rosberg is defiantly on it this weekend, Hamilton isn't looking to setteled

Very interesting to see both Torro Rosso's ahead of the Red Bulls, can't be long now till James Key is brought across to the Main team

The Renault engine can't be that bad..............

Honda is also making slow but steady progress

Also go Mitch Evans what a race in GP2 !!!!

  8. Interesting race this morning

Good work by Power on his win

Graham Rahal has majorly upped his game this year, for a single car team his performance is awesome

If Dixon hadn't been taken out 1st corner I would have had money on him pushing Power for the Win

Roll on two weeks of qualifying for the 500 now :)

Seeing the IMS gets you all excited

  9. I understand that you dislike Redbull, but Formula 1 can not afford to lose any teams let alone a team so Willing to invest such large amounts of money.

They earnt all of the success they enjoyed. The innovation they brought forward was substantial. And I believe that the way that F1 legislated against their innovations was very unfair compared to their refusal to bring the gap down.

But only in comparison. I don't think they should interfere to close the gap ATM.

To me its all about Attitude and IMO Redbull don't have the right attitude for the sport

The last 10 years have been an nightmare for Williams (Until last season) but you never once heard Frank Williams go if I can't Win we are going to pack up our toys and leave

I agree I don't think innovations should be banned, DD diffusers and exhaust blown diffusers shouldn't have been banned IMO if you find a loop hole in the rules or find an edge I'm all for it

Just like I don't think there should be any regulation or parity brought in between engines
