    wot u can do is (and wot i am doing), is get lowering blocks 2 drop the ride hight 2 your liking, and sorce sum leafs off a panalvan as they are more heavy duty 2 incoporate the extra loads intended. i had a look at a mk2 rally car and this is wot he has done. not sure is they r actualy from a panalvan but have an extra leaf in there and looks the same. you also have 2 do shocks aswel but that goes without saying.

  3. if u r doin the cam it is best 2 do things like rockers, vavle springs, guides, retainers and port and polish the head aswell as extracters etc..... to get the best effect from it. u wont get huge gains if u do the cam by itself. not saying its a bad move but u will be better off if u save and do this all in 1 go if on a budget etc... (some people dont have this problem )

  8. u must b joking i neva said i wanted 150atw with 1400. i said down the track a bit that is my goal. as for the cam, can u get a custom grind that is close 2 the sort of cam i want (se above)?
  9. fair enuf. which is beta tho? a cam grind or a new cam (i realise its about $300). but im looking 4 eitha a club race/hillclimb cam, or a rally cam. http://www.camshaftshop.com//camshafts/ ... make_id=36 the rpm range 4 these are 2500-6500 and 3000-6800 respectively. im not sure if u can get a cam grind for this sort of application so mayb u guys can enlighten me?
  10. twin 45's are pointless 4 street use. twin 40's are ideal and one of the best and most efficient things u can do 2 an engine 2 gain more horsepower throughout the rev range, is 2 make everything flow better and more smoothly. exhaust and carbs are commonly considered the most basic improvement (without huge losses) to an engine to gain more power. yes cams and carbs go 2gether, but you'll get more gains from carbs alone, than cams alone. and yes carbs will cost alot more 2 do than the cam. you cant go doin everything at once (unless u have the means )
  11. i was thinking exhaust and carb/s first. then cam (and valve springs and guides etc), then a bit of head work
  12. put it this way... iv picd up a sierra 4 $200, iv got at least 1400 2 spend on it 2 get it going (not going at the moment), and giving the engine a decent once over, not going overboard, and then working it. dont need 2 go forged, but down the track i want around 150hp atw would be nice
  13. well thats good 2 no lol. yeah should b able 2 do most of the work ourselves. after the rebuild the mods i have in mind are extracters, exhaust, carbs (hopefully twin 40's sideys), port and polish head, cam (including rocker arm set and valve springs). i realy want 2 stick with the 2l pinto as i want lots of torque on tap . so yeah im just looking 4 advise on rebuilding at the moment (as the car isnt running) and weil look at working the engine later...

  16. hi guys just wondering if anyones knows any good sites on rebuilding the sierra engine. i will be doing my own conversion in2 my mk2 escort soon and got myself a cheap sierra. dad and i think its best 2 rebuild it before working the engine so any info or tips would be much appreciated!!! i am on a budget so just simple things like pistons and rings , rebore, gaskets etc etc. please help me.
  17. oh yeah... so it soundz a bit easier 2 cut and weild or beat it out... also i think someone said earlier on this topic you can use the short part of the driveshaft off the sierra (or cortina?), and short part off the escort and this works... can someone set us straight please??

  19. i live in hawkes bay and i just got a front set set of nolathane bushes... but go 2 any performance shop and they should just order them 4 for u... thats how i got mine.
  20. all the 1.3ltr escorts had a 4.125:1 diff with the 4spd... just 2 clear things up 4 evry1
  21. apparently u can cut out a trans tunnel from a auto eski (ghia model) and put that in its place as they are a bit bigger 2 incorperate the auto gearbox which must b a tad bigger. i also want 2 do this conversion, i have a mk2 and a whole sierra as the donor. wot needs 2 b done 2 the driveshafts?
