    Guess that box...

The gto boxes are generally 5 speed for the 4g52, the 16l are mostly 4 speed but there were a few like the gs model that come out with a 5 speed. Check out coltspeed's project car and there'll be more info on that gearbox onto a 4g63. I'll get a pic of both so you can compare.
  2. Yep FAR fibreglass do the flares and whole guards if you need them, about $190 for flares and $260 odd per guard I think.
  3. I've got a number of old 72-73 16L colts, my original has a chain 4g32, the another has had the beltdrive 4g32 dropped in later and bolt straight up. A couple of my 1850's colt have had the same transplant, 4g51 chain drive taken out and a 4g32 belt drive put in instead, straight bolt up. All of these are rwd, and most of the colt stuff was interchangable as is a lot of the mitsi stuff.
  4. Got a few more pics up now, will put some up of the engine bay once I've given it all a good cleanup. There's a little bit of oil squirting from somewhere that's really annoying me, so will have to deal to that soon too. http://www.fotothing.com/speedyrr
  5. I've taken some extra pics just for you redseven http://www.fotothing.com/speedyrr You can get an idea from whats on my car. I'm running 195/60/14's front and rear. The front tyres are right out on the limit as you can see from pics. I've tried to take the half-car pics looking down the tyre line front and back. The rear tyres are about 40mm in from the outermost point of rear guard. For your interest the original tyres were 155 or 6.15/13"s factory. The mags are 14 x6 on mine I think and on the front have just enough clearance on the front for guard outer and suspension inner. I might pull one off to get the exact mag dimensions and offset etc for you later if you want the extra info.
  6. I've got a set of modgie style mags that I want to get rechromed but one has a big ding in the side. Went to tyre shop and they said its not worth fixing as rules have changed. If they sent damaged one off it would have to be repaired then certified/tested as well, so expensive to do now so not worth it. Anyone else come across this or are they bullshitting me. I'd like to be able to use em as I've only got 4 and don't have a replacement for damaged one. Any help appreciated on this one!
  7. I know! Iknow! I've got 1 v8 3 bikes and ten colts that I'm tinkering with plus a fulltime job as well so times against me. But I do intend to post pics of evlgto...eventually. I'm starting to sell stuff off now but trying to do it by word of mouth rather than on trademe. Limits the number of people seeing what I've got. And the people on this site are the sort of people that can give an old car a good home.
  8. Yes 73gto I did buy evlgto in the end, needs more work tho so will be hiding in the shed for a while yet, little puffs of blue smoke is not good-or leaking windscreen-diff-engine etc...but that's what happens when you buy an old car sometimes. Redseven I haven't got round to checking fitment but I think they are all basically the same. The gto momo kit I've got has c 6100 stamped on the side of it and is 80mm high if that helps. Will try to pull apart a 16l one and fit it on in the next few days. Also have another that was off a celeste but no brand or markings on that one.
  9. I can check for ya, I've got a gto momo boss kit in my parts collection. Don't know if they still make em tho?
  10. Yes redseven it was in the mag, one of the conditions before I bought it was the owner wanted to get some recognition for all the work he did which I thought was fair enough too. Are u still after 16L parts because I've tried to contact you? lowlancer I'm talking about NEW ZEALAND NATIONAL MOTOR SHOW MYSTERY CREEK EVENTS CENTRE HAMILTON 17 - 19 MARCH 2006. There will be a lot of different stuff there and the EARLY MITSUBISHI COLT GTO club will have a section for the GTO's.
  11. This is truely a beaut! I seen this car up close recently and the pics don't do it justice, that paint job works really well, mags are awesome, and when I seen it it just had the dash engine dropped in so now it'll have the performance to boot with the looks. I'll be keen to see one day how it goes against mine when its back up and running properly. Great job.
  12. Will take a while but I've got an extensive archive from the guy I bought it off with Lots of pics all the way thru the build-up process for the GTO. coltspeed wants me to have it all fixed up for the meet at mystery creek next year but not sure if it will be ready by then.
  13. Well one of the front inserts gave up the ghost the other day, and I decide to try something out considering so many of the different colt models have interchangable parts. Sooooo...... I grabed the front towers out of a spare GTO GS2000 I've got, the lower half is identicle and the top part where the spring is housed is 15-20mm shorter. Swapped straight over bolting all the old brake and bearings etc in. The cool thing is the car sits at the same height due to the lighter 16l engine, the front end now handles better and there is less body-roll which is a bonus too. Such a simple swap for a great improvement.
  14. The car in the avatar isn't "Little Red Colt" but thats very observant of you escort_boy, I'm the one that bought EVLGTO in the end. Pity lots a little things a crapping out on it so now its hiding in the shed till I get a bit of time to go over it properly and fix a few niggles. Now that ones out of the bag I'm guessing people might want to see pics of that one 2?
  15. Will do once I get some time off and a bit of decent weather, way to bright today. There's 3 pics up now, http://www.fotothing.com/speedyrr
  16. Yep its an aussie assmbld 79 ZJ Fairlane, just had to do a complete engine transplant cause the other ate #1 piston. Now back to the car in question, what do ya all think of "Little Red Colt"
  17. Not the right model yet but obviously its a ford. It's from across the ditch with 5.8L clevo
  18. Check out this for the first pic http://www.fotothing.com/speedyrr Will try to sort out more as soon as possible. Anyone guess what my other project in the right of pic is?
  19. Firstly be patient for the pics, I'm in the middle of getting them sorted. Secondly I'm new to this site and thought there might be a bit of interest in this old car. This is "little Red Colt". I picked her up from an elderly couple in Palmerston North about six years ago, still running, rego on hold, $200, puffed a litle blue smoke on startup but ran ok. If I'd done a bog job on the guards on both both sides it would have past a warrant. So it was a bit of a score...especially as this was my first car. This actually sat for a while in my flats garage while I still zoomed around on my bike. Not happy with the calfs%$t brown paint I ended up having the thing stripped to bare metal, any cancer removed from the body and repainted in Mexican red. Servicing the head and replacing the valve stem seals solved what problems I had with the engine and the original radiator was recored to help keep it cold. After taking it for a blat in the wet I found it was a great car for drifting but the factory rims with 155 biscuits had to go. Hence the 14" with 195's. This improved handling a lot and kept it on track even in the wet. I didn't want to ruin the looks with bucket seats so I got a set of seats out of a gs version recovered and those went in. This car is in very original nic and I don't intend to be changing the powerplant or anything major with the suspension either, as its got the original engine in it still. At the moment the cancer is coming back in spots, I've been naughty and it ends up outside a lot, so many other projects take up a lot of room, so it'll be due for a little touch up attention.
