haha yeah my bad, I should update more regulary. I did make an update this morning if you want to have a look V8 Pete. I was planning to compile all the pictures and do a big update once the car has a reg and wof. That site has been a great help, and ladaspeed (dylan) has been pretty happy to help via email throughtout the conversion. That casting mark I was referring to though seemed to be unique to me, I ended up taking an angle grinder to it and hoping like hell I wouldn't end up having to get the block braized up. It worked out alright though

Apparently those nivas go off road like no ones business. Piss all over surfs and jeeps n shiz. wicked! My blue lada was one of the meanest head turners on the road, and woman loved it. was so mean for crusing and got me laid a few times which is sweet. The white one when the engine conversion is finished is gonna be mean, I reckon the 1800 twin cam will go hard too, will be funny dragging off hondas.. in a LADA. woo hoo!

yeah I'm think 1uz with carbs for simplicity + w57 or r154 box, when I get some more cash. Which might not be for a while :\

A bit of an update.. I have sorted out a throttle linkage, we ended up using a pedal from a ford laser so after a bit of fucking around and cutting + bending, then some more fucking around we got that mounted up. It works pretty well, although it cos do with a bit more modding to get the pedal in the right position. Yesterday was a pretty big day as far as progress goes, as we had the car idling and moving under it's own power (!) about a metre foward and backwards down the driveway, so that was pretty leet and I'm stoked. I won't -really- be able to run it much or take it for a test drive till I get an exhaust made up, as it has no exhaust at the moment and is bloody rowdy. I have also mounted a chrome bumper from the fiat 125 I had on the front, and will be doing the same on the back.. it's a bit of a fuck around mounting them but here's hoping they will look heaps better/different from the factory ones, the front looks good anyway, albeit dirty. I will be saving my pennies for the next couple of weeks to pay for an exhaust (anyone got hookups in this department? or able to do cashies?) and tidying up little bits and pieces, then hopefully going for a wof! if all goes to plan.

is that a mazda 1500? that is the shit. That colour would look god imo, it would change the whole car, it will be one of a kind with a new motor + some mean lowering etc. Looks jap as which is sweet imo

I only put 98 in it man, its not pinging, its like a really rank rattle, the only thing I have ever heard that sounds like it is a 3k that had been run with no oil for a couple of months and had blown a big end or bottom end, I'm not sure which. Or it could just be a crappy 18r, yes whilst on that note, what are some pretty trouble free conversions for the dirty thirtys? the check oil light on the dash is also coming on on start up when it's cold, which imo is another hint that maybe it is an oiling prob?

nah haha definitely not that rattle from the exhaust, fuck that is a crazy rattle though. It seemed to be losing power also? meh :S

lol I sold the fiat to my mate for $200 after I took the chrome bumpers off to go on my lada and the alloy cambelt cover to go on my fiat twin cam. Made $75 off it too.! Haven't done much work on my lada lately though, been a bit slack really, we reco'd the head on that fiat 125 + done a bit of other stuff to get it running nice.
