After sanity was restored (fighting entropy!)

Bent up angles for the lower edges and curved them with the shrinker/stretcher do-dad.
Trimmed them to size and welded to the end of the lower valence (both sides).
Next was the top. Sides first
About this point I had to pause to clean up the work area.

New page at last.
The photohost I have used for years is being a dick, so might have less pics.
Anyway, I have been working on this when garage time is available, splitting with a fairly major garage reorganisation/tidy up.
Current main task is replacing all the bits I cut out of the front panel to get it out.

That rad hose T piece is a Mazda one
Cos I have one here
Thanks. I'll have to pay attention to the Mazdas next time I visit PaP.

Looking good, particularly those wheels.
Do you know what this T came from? It looks like something I could use.

This is what I got
That particular one in NLA, but there were lots of sellers with the same sort of module.

I bought a 12V timer module from ali, it works fine on a battery test, but behaves weirdly with the car running. Probably due to electrical noise issues, so watch out for that.

Depends on how simple the section they're replacing is too and how visible it will be..... Does anyone know what the deal is with Custom Metal Shapers these days? Someone on here mentioned the owner is in prison now!!? Not sure if that's correct.
Correct, but it seems work is ongoing - 61 Belair IIRC?

I was making some changes to my english wheel last week. I built this a few years back out of scrap bits I acquired. Design was based on Kerry Pinkerton's plans on the metalshapers site.
It wasn't very stable when being moved around (front caster too close to the back of the thing) so I shifted the front wheels out a bit.
The upper wheel was a crane caster. I think it's cast iron which isn't ideal, but it works for me. The lower anvils were machined by my father (there are 5 with different profiles) from a length of 3" chrome plated hydraulic ram rod (I was told it was part of a press that had been broken off !).
The adjuster is made from square tubing and threaded rod. Sliders are plastic chopping board material. The only machining is the anvils and axles.
It's a tricky thing to lift up, but I got it back upright after a while/

For sale in Raumati at the weekend.
Looked pretty tidy.

Walker McLuskie did the front chassis leg on my Traveller years ago - fitted a new piece that I supplied. Did good work.

Well, there you go
There's reasons I do my own.

I've heard good things in the past about The Surgery. Haven't had work done there myself though.

Thanks for the update
Makes me want to stick with underpowered stockers.

I've seen plenty of griping from the USA for similar rules.
Slippery slope/thin end of the wedge there.
Having said that though, councils here seem to go a long way before forcing a tidy up on hoarders etc so it will probably be a long while before anything actually bites.
WAKE UP SHEEPLE!

I'm shocked (shocked I tell you!) that you are putting Tridon parts in - no source for genuine JDM versions?

Getting the radiator recored should be no biggy - just drop it into your local radiator shop and they can get a core in from NatRad and they can repair the tanks at the same time. .
Make sure you are sitting down for the price though. Just the core (which had to be custom ordered) for my teeny oxford was $470 + GST. That doesn't include fitting/fixing the tanks and frame.

Had a sand and clean up then sprayed etch primer around the traps.
Including the valence
and the front crossmember parts
Welded those bits into place
And the sill panel. Still need to finish the new bit of guard, but its nearly there.
Next thing is to fill the gaps here, should be fairly easy as it's a flat area with flanges. Also need to replace the end bits that connect to the inner guards.
I need to get some top coat paint for these bits, will probably get the Resene Lucite LC 400 as I don't fancy breathing isocyanates.

This is continuing to chew time.
The better of the two radiators fixed up. Got quoted about $700 for a recore!
Sprayed cavity wax inside the sill and closed box section before welding the cover in place. I'll spray more into this area through a vent hole later but I wanted to get it into the middle of the sill length while it was open. Messy stuff, and had to be careful not to get it too hot/on fire when welding.
Not vinegar:
but cleaned up the part well.
Front valence back from the dip stripping. Note the misplaced spot weld right in the middle. British quality!

Seems good to me, more of the old TG.

So whats the deal? Is it every one that was in top gear but its not actually top gear?
Yes. GT instead of TG

Great to see this legal and pretty!
Good effort.

Catching up on the weekend things.
New grille support bracket
My folder. I looked at a used NZ-made box and pan one recently, but the bloke wanted $1800, so I'm sticking with the angle iron, flat bar, clamps, wood block, and hammer method.
Ready to trim and weld.
Final fit. It's not all that flat, but will be close enough once its welded in (I hope)
Have re-primed this off the car, and all the other bits I've welded in tonight.
Spray painting is a lot of dicking around, but it won't be any easier later.
I'll do some sealing and rustproofing on the sections to be closed up tomorrow, then hopefully get it welded in later in the week.
