    burning points

    they burn out almost instantly melts the wire going to the coil i dont have a balast resistor i was told i didnt need one ? im not 100% sure if im even getting a spark caurse i havent got the engine running yet its just been rebuilt it has a msd high voltage coil on there ive had it running sweet b4 tho ...
  2. hey guys i seem to be burning the points out in my dizzy even tho ive replaced condensor and points now i know its a simple problem im guessing somethings not earthd right could it be the coil earthing threw the dizzy ? cheers stupid little problem but im sick of burning new sets of points out while trying to fix it lol.
  3. cheers yeah its comeing along im proberly guna hold off on the turbo set up for now need to sort out dif etc to actually take the power the carbs have been jetted for the engine by esslenger so hopefully they wont rattle out but if they do at least ill know wats going on they were running on a n/a pinto rather highly workd same pistons as mine etc and was makeing 210hp which is pretty decent i dont exspect anything near that as i haveing changed the compression but i didnt caurse i wasnt sure if i was guna go n/a or turb need to get my ass in to gear and find a engine hoist to trial fit it so i can work out how to cut the crossmember then it will be all go from there
  4. well thought it was time to put something up havent in ages completely striped the engine bay and reboged everything took a good couple weekends to get it to how i wanted i feel it came up rather good got rid of all the holes in the engine bay etc weilded my clutch cable mount in properly now not just a hole in the fire wall lol sprayed it in etcher primer just got to mod the crossmember now then its paint engine bay put engine in get abit of wireing done and its all go prettymuch... couple other things ive brought since i last updated quafile quick shifter,adjustable cam gear high touque/light weight starter motor some other things but i carnt rember them all
  5. yeah im useing a auto drive shaft in my esky and its the perfect length ay are you sure it was a auto drive shaft that was too short ?
  6. yeah i think ill just take it in to palmside and get them to set it all up for me i dont got the gear to make sure the tdc marks are correct ive spent waytomuch to stuf it up now and when i hooked up the dizzy it burnt out like instantly so i think thats just telling me i should let some one else do it lol dam points dizzy.
  7. hey guys just thought it ask acouple questions to make sure ive set my engine up sweet before i fire it up ive set the crank to tdc with the key in the crank faceing straight up and set the cam to tdc with the key on that faceing straight up i then tightend the belt up etc and set it to fire on number one the first piston from the front of the block then turnd the crank to 4 degrease after tdc then reset the dizzy to fire at that. if that makes sence does this sound all sweet any tips i could use to make sure its all good i just find the timeing marks on pinto's especially the cam one really uselis if your not useing the original cam wheel. cheers
  8. well i painted the engine up today quite happy with the colour scheme need to get some more chrome bolts tho heres acouple more pics .

Well i got my engine back from Hpe auto all up cost me $2500 which isnt to bad i guess wasnt exstremly impressed with there proffesionalism on the hole thing forgot to do several things even tho i reminded them like 5 times but its all be sorted now. Put the crank in and pistons used crc engine lube which should do the trick quite well was abit touch and go when i had to do the piston ring gaps but hellrazier gave me some info/advice on how and i got it sorted.

  12. Ive been looking at the dif on my work van and it seems to be about the right width for a escort ive heard a rumour that its a good dif for a escort and is posibly a lsd as it lights both wheels up everytime anybody ever heard of anyone useing one or know if they come out in lsd ? cheers

  14. well i finished welding the plate in the engine bay instead of the bubble had to tack weld the hole thing in which was gay but got there eventually allso had to weld a little strip below it which i think came up quite gud just cleaning up all the inperfections in the engine bay and then i can move on to the rest of the rust in the body woo.
  15. oh yeah well ill keep it in mind ay wont be able to do any burn outs anyway as my dif will go bang rather quick lol
  16. my be a thought but i carnt really aford it at the moment would it bolt on to a standard fly wheel etc ? would a normal thurst bearing work with it ? im thinking of doing some sort of forced induction latter down the track maybe a small supercharger or something wondering how it would run with my mikuni carbs tho could be interesting lol
  17. i found abit of rust so decided to get rid of the bubble in the engine bay not to bad for a gasselis mig fron super cheap i feel allso i decided to make a new parcel tray with sound dampner underneath so will hopefully stop any rattles. allso i just recently put my engine in to get worked rods getting balanced,polished,lightend,shot peened,oversized arp rod bolts.Crank getting a slight grind,lightend,polished,balanced,flywheel dowled to crank.Block getting bored 60 thou out,top being decked,block fully cleaned out,new frost plugs oh and allso flywheel being balanced. all up costing ruffly 2k which im happy with will spend more on engine depending on funds.

  19. sweet guys cheers for all that info i doing a 2ltr ford pinto up 205 block so rods are rather strong only doing a na engine
  20. has anyone attemptd to do this them selfs ive been told it makes the rods stronger but then ive read it allso makes them weaker ?
  21. does anyone know where you can get them bits for the die grinder from ? ive only been able to find cheap shit so far.

  23. oh yeah when i done my sump i cut it and made the piece of metal and got it migd and it cost me $90 what would i get charged to get something tiged lol
