I guess you cant use an expandable foam in a can?
Do you know where to get that stuff?

You kind of have to find someone to borrow the tool off though. They are a couple of hundred $ worth.....

Honda or something....
Edit - or get a cheap hodgey E30 bmw.

I can do it if he comes to Palmy? Not too keen to go to feilding if I don't have to .... It's way too nice over there. But may do for beer.

Old engine is out now thanks to Escorta and Flawles helping out, had fun with 2 jacks, a seatbelt, some blocks of wood and heaps of determination:
Other things to happen have been getting the flywheel machined (before pic)
Test fitting 4 stud hubs to a 5 stud axle:
And painting stuff:
Should have a clutch by the end of the week, and will do the cam belt one night after work. Should have the engine / box ready to test fit in a week, and will hopefully be making fitments within 2 weeks.
.... Heres hoping it will be ready for trackday......

Cracked me up how we all ended up at the same intersection at the same time, all doing different things just out of palmy. Messy.
-
I'll be out at some point during the weekend.... So long as me and Flawles manage to get all the shit in his ute without Too much hassle.
-
Finally got the car at home, needs paint work done... stickers stuck to the paint... paint didn't stick to the body...
Beams is sitting in the shed waiting to be used.... the old engine will be out next weekend to make some space.
Cusco coil overs from a ZZW30, modified for AW11.
Will most likely going to convert to 5 stud. There seem to be better wheel options in good sizes and offsets. Going to run 17's with Mini Challenge full slicks, and will source some 15's / 16's for semi slicks or wets.
Either those or ProN1's.
Picked it all up in this and drove back from hamilton... on the bump stops.

Basically the story goes:
I picked up an AW11 from a car club mate who is into gravel and was screaming out for rally, but unfortunately for him the car he bought had a lot of rust + was de-registered already. The good things it had were the MR layout, the 4AGE and the Homologated cage.
It seemed to him that he could fix the rust and get the car re-vinned for the road but it wasn't to be. They did a lot of work on it and gave it a paint job (Not the greatest but fine). He failed a couple of certs and then decided to just use the car for Club and track events.
This was it at a classic meet at Manfeild:
Then when the chance came up he bought himself a tidy 4k starlet rally car and left the Blue MR2 on his lawn for Ages (With run bottom end and stuffed rings). And, after chatting at a club event he mentioned that it was doing nothing and taking up space (that he needed for his 21st). So it became mine.
Received it like this:
And played with / cleaned it a bit:
Now for the power and gearbox department I've put in some coin for this (Cheers to RomanV) :
And am going to use the kyb shocks, TRD springs, Super charger brakes w/mintex pads and RP01's with semi slicks that I already have.
Will still be a cheap competition car at the end of the day and will be quite competitive aswell.h

Heres a selection of the ones we bought in Japan..... most of out luggage weight was in Magazines .
There are some more Japanese classic mags around NZ at certain shops. Some of them get copies in as one offs so luck is often needed .

But then the idea is that this punishment will deturr young drivers from being stupid, which wont work. Since when has it ever been possible to create maturity through making the punishment larger? It doesn't work, and would be better off to have some persuasive ways of doing it, rather then taking you off the road. It will be the same as now, people wont change in nature for autorities. Think from the point of view of a young driver, do they think "I wont speed because the risk is too high, it will be safer to just go slow and listen to some opera" or do they act on impulse instead of using thought? I think that answers itself.

Yep, and it gives the police more power yet again... Can be a good thing in some cases... long as the officer isn't a power-poo.

Just saw this on the news, and it seems pretty irashional IMO. There are far more constructive things you can do then what they have planned... And going on what has been said to happen, everyone will loose their licence at least once a year. 75 demerit points for going 30k's over the limit. 75! Then add 25 for running an "almost red" orange light and you have lost the right to drive.
Also with the focus on young drivers, why not do more for driver education then just extend the time they have their learners for. Or at least get some decent testers at the AA etc, I know way too many young people who have got their restricted / full and still don't know some of the driving fundamentals. IMO Pro Drive was the best bit of driver education we had, and now that has been abolished due to lack of funds and the perception that it turns young drivers into "hoons". Yet this was the only form of easily accessible driver training that we had, aside from open road practice.
If it were my call I would leave the graduated licence system alone, but have a compulsory pro-drive type driver training program. Then when accidents happen they can be focussed more toward driver fault then under education.

Jasons projects are the best!
First one I saw was the mkIV cortina-beast with Subaru turbo setup, then after that came a team of Lazers, Turbo 4wd primera and the latest one to be seen is the Zetec 7 replica.... All within 2 years or so, with lots missed out.

Ok so theres a pretty good story to go with this one.
My old man is the Manager at turners Palmy nth... And sometimes they get asked to organise the pick up of cars from some places.
So the other day they got a call, and were asked to remove a whole pile of "wrecks" from a house that was being sold... Mortgagee sale or something. Usually with these sort of things they don't really care because the cars are most likely crap. This time was different though, because on inspection they found these cars:
Fiat 125, possibly a genuine 125T... Although it's not yellow. Has been re-painted.
131R "racing"
131S
Strada Abarth
Regatta:
Few Twin Cams and Carbs in there eh?!?! Abarth engine would go well.
And there was also an Alfa 164 v6 and an uno in the mix.
It seems to be an opportunity too good to miss for Fiat people really..... Mint as lucky back yard find.
More info in this link. Dad wrote the descriptions so they are pretty decent.
