  1. Yeah I agree with you on that one. I have some really fine mesh out in the shed which will be cut to shape and painted black to replace the perspex corners, cutting mesh is far easier then re-making the 2 that got broken. Then will run brake ducts from the bottom 2 vents and a tow hook through one of the other holes.

    More pics up!

  2. Oh ok, Ive done a couple of "dual sprints" down there, and the best I have done is a 1:24, bit hard to drive with std seat tho, trying to hang on and drive at the same time aint easy! :D

1:24 seems respectable compared to some of the Superlap cars times :P .

I was hoping the car + me would be capable of doing a 1:20 around track 2... but it's hard to gauge having only driven there for 1 day in a standard 86, and not getting timed. Really have no idea.

And you've settled it then Ben, I'll flatten the paint out next weekend and make sure it's not shiny.

  3. Fuck D thats my mum!

:P Yeah brad I'm considering going over it with a coat of Saturn black and no gloss... Or I'll just do a trackday with it and it will get a lot more dull  , spraycans aren't ideal.

nzdm - haven't taken this to Taupo yet so will have to see in march. What sort of times are you doing there? I think I want to aim for low 1:20's (1:20-25ish) but really have no idea what to expect.

  4. Bought a "trademe special" bumper... was cheap enough. It ended up having a warp in the RH corner and needed fixing up. Also made a mounting setup that is quick and easy, so it can come off to go on the trailer.

How it looked when I got it:

Spent ages repairing the bumper. No pics of the process but it came out looking good. What I did was sand the lump down until it was even with the rest of the bumper, then flipped it upside down and layed out about 8 layers of fibreglass for a base. After that was dry I flipped it over and used newtech to give something to mould. Following that there was a lot of sanding, spray puttying and more sanding until it came out looking pretty good.

Now 2 bombs of primer, 2 bombs of gloss black, 1/4 can of matte black and 2 cans of gloss later it looks pretty good. Could do with at least 2 more coats though. Might just do it at home with some laquer and my new compressor.

Also made up a couple of lenses up out of perspex. Painted the front ones red and the corners flatty B.

  5. Hi all, just putting the call out to see if anyone here is interested in helping with the Daybreaker Rally this year.

We need block marshalls. What this involves is driving up a stage to an intersection or Spectator point, block the road and tape the intersection off.

You get fuel a fuel voucher to cover the travel and there is normally a free dinner included.

The date this year is October 11th which is a Saturday.

PM me if you are interested or call:

    Jeff Braid

    06-3561008 - day

    06-3550407 - night

    Chur.
