Are bumpstops required for custom coilover setups? Or is adequate travel & correct spring rates enough?
Cheers.

They're often known as a "Nylon shifter bush". Go see an engineer and get them to spin one up out of some tough stuff.

Mint! I'll prepare myself for a huge week .... Challenge laid.

Very good point Dave! I'll get the dial gauge onto that job and check if they are much different.... The eye-ometer says the are pretty similar, but that can't be trusted.
Looking like it's unlikely this will be finished by Winter Series in June.... So I'm going to gear up my daily driver starlet for RS (Real Slow) cup duties. Keen.

What's the chassis rail height in those pics? ... They are going to be some super short shocks. Is the insert spaced up to the top of the strut or has he shortened it as much as possible?
-
I'm looking forward to seeing this finished... Looks like a nice piece pf work!

15x7 +25 rims fit like this:
Pretty snug but no need for rolling.

Could be a good excuse to move to an appropriate flat in town!
Quite keen. Shed and good driveway required.

Man it's going to be uncomfortable with 40 profile tyres and 8kg rear springs!!! May as well build wheels from steel.....
-
As far as I know, I'm in..... All depends if I get sleep tonight though. 2 assignments due.... I'll get it sussed.
Beer please!

You provide the money and I'm in. Yeah?

185/55/14 Rolling Dia - 559mm
225/40/14 Rolling Dia - 535mm
24mm difference in total rolling DIA, so it'll make a 12mm difference to your guard gap....
Want me to get nick to find a bourbon price?

^^ Is that the one that came from Napier Ben? If so, it was supposedly mint before you got it .
Lets do that. Will make a manifold for carbs or something...
And yes, do Flawles in the AW11 - good plan.
-
Just leave the 4age in it... Can find another for the 85.

Sweet, which ones? The cheapies are a medium/hard compound I think, so are better for heavier cars or enduro stuff... They'll still be better than most semi's and are cheaper than most road tyres. Win-win.
Yeh, the T8-hard compound FTZ slick in 19/58-15. They should hopefully last a full 5-lap stint around the track without melting!
but I need to make 100% sure first that I can use them at other tarmac based events in the future, e.g. autocross and/or hillclimbs, MANZ-approved events that sort of thing, and not just at the open trackdays.
The answer (For hillclimbs) is No. Not at this stage. I don't see a reason for them to be not allowed at a sealed autocross, but the regs of such an event might rule them out.
-
What if we find a decent wider 14" tyre? Obviously won't be able to run the required 245, but we might be able to find something else that's respectable.
Toyo list a 225/40/14 with a * so you might be able to get it on indent.
-
Might buy some full slicks from palmside, the $100 ones that are EOL and happen to be the right size for my car

RA55 on Garagedori had an 18R, W55 etc for sale. His number is in this thread - third post down.
-
Actually heard of an 18R for sale the other day... I'll go have a look.
-
Yep I've done a season + many trackdays on my set. I've done a quicker time on the A048's than I have on the slicks....
-
Yes, r888's are good value for money... But they aren't good in the wet on the track, not at all.
The road is a whole different ball game fred - chip seal allows for water to run down into cracks and you get a lot less pooling of water. On the open road (Hillclimbs) my RA1's feel the same as a road tyre in the dry, but on the track in the rain they are a lot less impressive - but still good for a semi.
Also, explain how Super6 race cars are so much faster (5 seconds a lap at manfeild) than HQ's in the dry, but are the same speed or slower in the rain??? It's the R888's.

Fuck D01J, unless you are a targa car, why run dunlop at all? D01J is what I left on the roof of burgerfuel the other night while the Toyo R888s sat safely on the front. r888 = same or better grip, same or better feel, 2/3 the price, longer lasting. No competition really. And yes, I've run both, and yes on the same car, and yes, oddly, even on the same axle, dunlop locked and spun first every time.
Fred.
Bit of a harsh comment. I've had many reports about dunlop Semi's being better than R888's... Especially if it gets a bit damp. R888's are only useful in the dry.
Advan A048's are the best semi's... (I think they've been superseded with A050 now)

lulz. No vendetta. I've never met you so how would I make a judgement? It appears you like to pray on anything posted by others. I'm just giving some back...

omfg this thread is killing me. I'll hold my tongue, as this is not the place.
Hah, sad sack.
Keeping opinions to yourself is good, but we don't want to know how hard you have to try...
I don't use insurance.
