  1. Mines from an FS50 and bolted straight on :) . All we had to do was spin up a bush so the earlier spindle /wheel combo would fit.

The FA carb will be mint for most of what you want to do... Just pull the needle out and shape it down at the end. Don't drill the jet, it gives you too much fuel. On mine I shaped the needle to a point and tapered it back to about half way - it runs well down low and perks up more when you add choke. Pulls 70km on the flat on a still day and 85km down hills!

  2. So it's been a while without an update... Mostly because I did nothing between the end of winter series and now.

Here's a vid from the final race of the UTRS from the front of a K20A civic:

I then had a break from the race car, focused on Uni assignments and spent my time being boring. But that's changed over the last week. It needed work - a new CWP set in the diff, sealing a leak in the diff housing, getting new brake pads.... And slamming it by 30mm.

To lower the rear meant making shorter extensions for the top of the shocks as there's no room for up-down movement on the thread.

The car feels considerably lower when you walk around it now, which is cool. It also needs more castor but there's a clearance issue with the LF inner guard where the battery bracket lives... Will chop that out and replace it with panel steel on a more generous angle, pull castor, cut the bumper and flare for clearance and go for a skid.

Hopefully it handles better :P .

  3. Where's the inner bush of the lower arm in comparison to the end of the steering rack body?

I'd be wanting to find a longer rack, do the same and shorten the RHS of the rack to suit... You don't want it to pivot from a different point to your lower arms.

It's not "just a wagon", it's a slammed wag with a V8 - bump steer could cause some big issues and get you in trouble.

  4. It's struggling with a fuel or spark thing...

Rings aren't your worry though man, you need to have a correctly placed crankcase breather to stop your oil from being pressurised. It's quite a hard thing to work out but I'd say QCADTA was right with his assumption.

Where are your oil breathers going from/to and do they have any form of valve on the line?

  5. Hi everyone,

    ToolshedManawatuRoadTrackSeriesLogo-1.jpg

The final round of the Manawatu Toolshed Road and Track Series is coming up on December 19

It has been a great series of sprints so far this year and it all draws to a close on December 19th.

The December sprint event is always one of the most enjoyable dates on the clubsport calendar. It wraps up the series but is also the final Motorsport Manawatu event for the year. Single, dual and multi-car sprints will take place on the 3km front circuit and there will be ample track time. We have had one car do 297km at a Road and Track event, so there's no shortage of runs.

Entry is $70 if you pre-register (BBQ lunch included). You can do this by emailing Julian on manawatucarclub@xtra.co.nz or by visiting http://www.motorsportmanawatu.org.nz - if you have entered a Road and Track event this year there is no need to fill out a new entry form. All you need to do is email us to lock in your place and send through your payment online.

It's free to spectate - enter via Rata st (Mobil Manfeild) and park in the pit-paddock area.

A big thanks to the Manawatu Toolshed who have put together a great range of prizes. These will go to the winners of each class and the overall 2010 champion.

Head to the Toolshed at 62 Russell st for Handtools, Machinery, Powertools and servicing needs. They are the service agent of choice for brands such as Makita, Hitachi, DeWalt, Bosch, Paslode and more!

Entry form and regs available here:

  6. i was going to just taper the whole runner so its nice and gradual but dad was like nah just taper it half way so it stays bigger for longer to get max volume in then smashes it into the port or something, i didn't quite follow but then most of his knowledge relates to side draft carbs so im not sure.

So he reckons you should make the taper the same shape as carb chokes? Sounds like it would cause a decent amount of tumble... Need Spence to advise the pro/cons.

  7. Me:Just wondering cause it's a bit dodgey with no plates etc... Looks very similar to my friends one that was stolen in Wellington in Feb. Same hand painted white walls, same piece of tape on the seat and even the same bungee cord on the rear paper holder...

T: yeah just went through your friends list to find chris wells ;) Facebook is great for following up issues! It's just too easy!

And for the record, my workmate has no idea it's stolen. He bought it as legitimatly as he could. Pass it on that Chris should just go straight to the police if he truely thinks it's his.

Me: We're going through that process now, but we also have definite proof that it is Chris's bike...

Pretty useless of the police that it can get stolen, be reported by the owner and still be sold on by the impound without the owner knowing.

  8. Hmm....

T: What are you buying a scootrr for?!

Me: There's always space for more FA50's... How come?

T: Just saw you were asking questions. It's my workmates auction so was checking it out lol. It looks terrible! Nifty 50's were way better

Me: Nah FA50's are the way to go... Might go round and have a look at it this week. Any idea where he got it from?

T: Yeah he bought it from his lecturer. Got that and another scooter. Came from police impound originally I think. Why's that?

    What to say?
