Sounds about right.
The market has changed a bit in the last 3 years, so I guess he can expect to make a bit of a profit, maybe more than double is a bit rich.
If it isn't rusted through, I would have thought $20k would have been a fair price, but I'm stuck in the 90's.

Oh yes, RX4 coupes, the big boys of the rx world.
I want one so bad.
Is a shame it's so far away, I would love to have a look, and see how bad the rust really is.
I'm guessing as it's a late import , it had been sitting in Japan slowly rotting away, and the rust is in more than just the 3 places in the trade me pictures.
You never see 4 coupes for sale.

Anybody know why this rx4 hasn't sold yet (other than the ulgy wheels in pic 1) ?

Looks to be a complete and honest car, all be it with a bit of work to do, but at least you know what your getting yourself into.
It is a bit pricey for what it is, but is still better priced than a $50k left hook rx3 coupe.

sure was muscle car madness .
was a shock to see jap crap .
The old hot rodders must be getting soft.
-
Twas a good number of rotors at rangoon show on Saturday .
Spotted two rx3 sedans one rx3 coupe three rx2 sedans , one of which looked like an aussie import series 4 with a 20b in it.
No pictures, because I was too busy getting sun burnt, and didn't want to look like a fanboy.

Just wrong.
Rx7 good
rx3 good
Smoshed together not good.

Nice.
AES reso's too ?
Did you import them yourself or is there an NZ supplier ?
-
Ha, man you pinned on that for a bloody long time.
-
Oh man, your 5 days late.
Me and a couple of mates went for a drive there on Sunday .
Felt like driving on a private road on the way there.
place is like a ghost town since the quakes, so I'd so your scooters will be safe.

Mad isn't it.
PAC seem to be on a crusade to tub every old school rotary they can get their hands on.
Bet that shit isn't easy to change back to original.
-
No one sells , and everyone grows up .
Price has to be a big factor as well.
The days of a slapped together rx3 in guidecoat primer on eagers pulsing it's guts out are long gone (damn it).
You can't even buy a nosecone for what you could pick up an rx3 for 15 years ago.

don't take my word as gospel.
I'm just calling it hows I see it.
Would make a mean rat rx , with $30,000 and some overnight parts from Japan.

Who knows anything about this? http://www.trademe.co.nz/1182236957
oh oh, I do............................................................It's fucked.
And his $1 asking price is excessive.

Or u could just finish the rx2?
hahaha maybe.
nah, still want a 7.
-
I guess every old car increases in value over time, as there gets less and less of them.
that isn't really ever a deciding factor for me.
I've just always wanted a first gen rx7, and as much as the old school Christchurch bogan in me wants, low, loud, flares and eagers.
I keep things for a long time, and I know I'll be happier, longer, with a super tidy, original one.

Any of the southern lads know anything about this rx7 ? or the seller ?
Is just about perfect for what I've been after for a while, but lack of photos and really bad feedback on the seller is a bit of a worry.
will be in contact with the owner, but thought I'd do some digging first.

Predictions on whether the mazda bubble will pop, or just go the way of the American car market ?
I can't see it dropping, but surely the prices can't keep going up.
I blame discovery's turbo channel. All these numptys think they can buy and sell and make a fortune.
NZ isn't big enough for that to work.

That (doubt it) was in regards to the rx3's race heritage.
fully agree about the rx3 being the most common rx of the 80's
-
Doubt it.
more likely nostalgia than anything.
50k for an rx3 is stupid, especially that one.
survivor car or not.
It's not the og colour,
it's not the og engine and box, and the owner admits it's worn and needs a rebuild.
it's all very 80's period with the spoilers and wheels, but thats not really a good thing.
It's only real appeal is that it appears to have a untouched , unbutchered interior with all the hard to get parts still there.
that is not the car for a collector, that is a car being bought by someone desperate to jump on a ,hot right now, market.
wait for it. Every rx will come with a 40k start price now.

Don't think I've ever even heard of triple plug housings before.

Was just in the process of trying to reverse mine.

Nice FD.
best shape car ever. will be remembered like the e type jag.
Your rev/speed meter can also be used to remove the 180kmh speed cut.
