  1. Does that front end fit onto the square 85 front ?

    Guards, bonnet, grill, etc ?

We are going down to pick up the b1600 this weekend.

Would be sweet if we could retro fit the nicer nose to it.

Agree with most of whats been said over the last page or so - but....

Another major issue is the re-sellers - guys who buy up the cars and list straight away for 5k more than current market (and get it), which creates panic buying, and leads people to believe these cars are actually worth this much, These guys generally dont care what sort of car it is, just about the $$$

IMO Greed has killed many dreams of genuine people who actually would love an old RX or similar, its been happening all over and this has generally F'd up the whole scene for everyone.

This goes ten fold for mazda parts, fuckers out there trying to get $500 for a bloody gear knob, or buying up all the nos parts from mazda and then slapping on 200% and trying to sell them on.

Coupe or not, that blue rx2 on trade me is a $5000 car, $29k because it's a coupe is mad, It needs $30k just in panel and paint to make it a $29k car, and then there is the interior.

    Grrrrrrrr old man rant.

  3. Was sold new in Blenheim .

The wee fergie 35 is a blast, was topping paddocks all Sunday on it, always goes like a champ, think I might have shit the gearbox in the slasher though, not sounding so flash anymore.

  4. Rang the old boy last night, he was all "oh what price did I say ? Oh I'll have to get back to you on that."

Funny thing was, when Becky was there on Friday,  he was all "yeah it's yours if you want it darling."

Boobs are the best negotiation device ever. No wonder I never get the sweet deals.

Told him we would be down on Friday to pick it up .

  5. I don't think the rotary idea will fly with her.

She has been waiting 12 years for me to finish the rx2, so she is a bit rotary shy

Also she doesn't need this to be fast, her daily is a 135i coupe, at that goes more than well enough for her.

The mx5 motor is probably the best bet for reliability, but don't know if I can be bothered with getting cert.

  6. The wife has found a wee 1984 b1600 that she wants, now I've been a fan of b1600's for ever, but not so much the 84 model more  the 75's.

Anyway, is there any love out there for the flat front b series utes or no ?

And I know the old thing of "if you like it who cares what others think" , but me being me, I'll drop a heap of cash into it, and I'm sure I'd rather do that to an older ute .

Ute looks like this .  has reg on hold, was only parked up as was fouling a plug .

Is it worth the effort, or is it always going to be the rx5 of b series utes ?

    Cheers.

  7. I  brought my rx2 over from Australia 13 years ago.

Was an easy enough process, but be aware,  the costs do start to climb at this end.

The freight cost is just the beginning,  you have maf, transportation, a heap of other little fees that start to add up, and then you get slapped with gst for both the vehicle cost and freight cost.

After that you still have to go through vin and compliance.

Saying that, it is still worth it in the end.

You can get a low owner car, with little to no rust for about the same price ,in the end, as what you would have to pay for an average one here.

    My advice .

Flights are cheap,  make a list of a few in the same city, fly over and inspect them yourself.

No one selling a car ever takes photos of the bad parts.

  8. Can just about guarantee it doesn't come with the xr-4's , but the fact that it shows them on the car and doesn't state in the auction that it doesn't come with them. He could be in the shit with the buyer come pick up.

Does look very sexy on them tho.

  9. Hahaha. Why does everyone ask me that when I talk about buying more cars ?

No. The poor little rx2 is still waiting for me. Really only needs an exhaust and a few little odd jobs sorted and it would be all go.

But I've been having fun playing v8's with the local hotrod guys, and want some big American steel to play with.

Still been waiting for the right first generation rx7 to pop up tho.

  10. Why does this one keep passing through hands ?

Looks like a good car except for the clear coat issues.

But is about to get a forth owner in the time Ed has kept his .

Have been saving for a 3100 Chev , but might have a go at this if it doesn't go for drug monies .
