I've got wilwoods on mazda 626 discs all designed to fit behind 13's (even though I pimped it out with 15's) they are a tight fit and I orignally put longer studs in so I could run a slim spacer.
Les Hunter would be the man to talk to, he helped me with mine, brackets etc .

after digging through a shit load of hoses. Suppercheap for the win.
I now have a slightly modified subaru liberity radiatior hose on my mazda.
Thanks to shizzl, I've never been into supercheap before, just thought they sold bolt on bling crap.
-
Hey guys.
Thanks to me changing my radiator to a nice shiney alloy one, the bottom outlet is a bit different from the factory one, making life a right shit to find a hose to fit it.
Anyone on here in Chch that works in the auto trade with a shit load of odd radiator hoses in the store that they don't mind me having a dig through ?
There's a box of beers in it for the man who helps me find something that fits
Cheers

After spending the morning doing one of my least favourite jobs, braided lines.
And nervously drilling holes in my nice flat firewall.
I finally made some progress on the poor old girl.
-
Going to give it a go.
Went out for a look today, most of whats there is very average and would only be any good if it goes for bugger all.
The c10 skyline would be my pick of the bunch, always wanted one of them.
-
nope, not me.
The guy I sold it to was down Invers way.
So maybe through a few hands now.
-
Not worried enough to go bothering the guy that owns it, just wanted to know if anyone knew what had happened to it.
Not too many ta's around, thought someone might know what happened with it.
-
Standard story about the car you wish you never sold.
Ever since I was young I had alway wanted a TA22, just loved the shape and style of them,
I finally found one for sale, and got it for a song, but being a bloody tall bastard, 6 foot 6, I could never really fit it right.
It sat out at the old mans shed untill one foolish night, I listed it on Trade me, and sold it.
From the moment it drove away I regreted it.
Just wanting to know if anyone on here knows what ever happened to it.
Cheers

You could try palmside http://www.palmside.co.nz/index.html, they do great work.

Did the show thing for a couple of years with one of my cars 'cough evo cough' and with a few mates cars, and it didn't really smoke my tyres.
Found the show scene to be a bit , meh .
Got to many things to do, to pay money to someone so I can stand around all day while they charge people to look at my car.
I guess too many hot rod mags as a kid made me like chrome a little too much.

Hey guys
Cheers for starting this.
yoeddynz, Escort metal pollishers in Chch did all the chrome and bright work, super happy with all the work they did too.
Evan, I can't rememeber exactly how much the dash cost with out digging through all the receipts, but I think about $750, the old dash was a mess, ex aussie, lots of sun damage and cracks.
chees-, why simmons ? because I couldn't get any jap wheels in 4x110 at the time, but don't worry, I am still on the hunt for some longchamps.
Cheers for the comments guys, I know it's not to everyones taste, a bit too shiney, It's just they way I had always wanted to do a car, but when it is finished it wont be a show pony.
I drive the shit out of my cars ( when they go that is )

The last lot of work done was to finish off the brakes and to get the coilovers right
The pedalbox caused a few headaches, and some custom work was need to hide the resivours and lines
And thats how she sits at the moment, almost finished but along way from done.
I haven't built it to any trend of fashion, (by intention) I built it to how I always wanted, I tried not to ruin the lines of the car but improve the things I found I didn't like when it was going.
I do think next time a little less chrome though

In the booth
The colour is a bit of a custom blend and I got the painter to flow coat the clear, giving it a very deep look to the paint
We even got a bit carried away and did the underside
First time on her own feet in a few years
After a long wait my engine was finished
And in it's home
I got it home after a year or so of going around town to work on it and started to put all the bits back together

Got the dash done by dashboard restorations, couldn't ask for a better job, looks better than new
Got the last 2 12a housings from mazda, and then had holes drilled in them
The start of my 12app
Now nice and shiney
As I can only do so much and I expect so much I had to hand the prep and painting over to someone else
The car spent a few months getting made perfect, my painter turned out to be even nutter about things being perfect than me.

My doors were in ok condition, but a full set of nos doors couldn't be turned down.
With it all fitted up my mate got started on the few rust repairs
The white spots are the rust repairs done
Thanks to the battery on one side and the coils and overflow tank on the other, we had to chop out the engine bay panels so we could make it symmetrical, and my mate thought it would be a good idea to do the fire wall, and to do it right I should ditch the brake booster.
Many hours were spent under the dash holding a hot dolly while doug heated and bashed my firewall.
Needed this thanks to no booster.
And I thought why stop there

While spending a small fortune on chrome I was also trying to get as many other parts sorted out so when it came time to put it back together although that is taking alot longer than it should.
Got a new radiator and oil cooler made
Got a set of evo 1 recaros retrimmed to look kinda factory
and retrimmed the rears to match.
Then I thought all the crap I pulled off the car that wasn't chromed needed to be better looking, so I made a new friend with the powder coater.
Got a set of 15inch simmons from aussie, and pulled them appart for a tidy up
Chopped up my diff and a spare series2 rx7 diff for it's disc rear and made two into one.
Sent it off to the powdercoater to make it look nice
Fitted it up with a mazdaspeed lsd head
All back together

The car sat like that for about a year as I waited for a mate to find some time to stat helping with the panel work.
So while the car sat and I waited, I started to get some of the brightwork brought back to new.
And then because I'm from a V8 family I got a bit carried away with the chrome.
Yeah, ya get the hint, I like chrome

//oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/31864-wldrx2s-rx2/?hl=wldrx2
Long overdue thread on my 74 series 3 RX2.
A few people will know my car from other fourms, but seeing as I have been lurking around here a bit lately, I thought I should get my ass into gear and do a thread.
Very long story short.
I bought this in Aussie on our way home from our honeymoon, 8 years ago.
After getting it shipped home and vined, I drove it around for a year, and then like all cars I have owned, I couldn't help myself, I pulled it apart.
Car looked like this when I first got it.
With a average engine bay
The start of a very very long rebuild
Empty bay, and started to remove all the unwanted brackets as I wanted a clean smooth engine bay.
After I had stripped most of the paint off by hand I sent it off to get media blasted.
The body showed no signs of any old damage, and had only a couple of tiny rust spots around the front and rear screens.
I was very happy with the way it came back, looked like a fresh shell -
I've got a wilwood reverse mount pedalbox in my rx2, all good by the cert guy, it's got a hell of a mount stuck up under the dash though.
I went for mine only for the wank value of a flat firewall, a very bad move, as it has cost a small fortune to get it how I wanted it.
The wilwood stuff isn't too expensive, Les Hunter is the man to contact if your interested.
-
I'm sure that the main reason that they are mounted on the dash is so they are at eye level.
You wouldn't want to be looking down at 9000rpm now would you ?
But yes most are for show, bring back the old days when monsta tacs cost more than a $800 and not every second car had one.
-
Geeze, you guys can be harsh about things.
Big call to say that guys with evo's, civics don't know what there gauges are telling them. and I've yet to see a pro drag car without a shift light, and yet I'm sure they arn't stupid idiots who don't know when to change gear.
Yeah I have to agree monsta tachs look silly on a car that has a factory tach, but I've got a shift light in my evo and it's bloody handy in a car thats hits rev limiter so easy.
Saying that, I also have two old school cars, so if I have extra gauges in them it's ok but if I have them in my evo I'm a fagg.
You may not like their honda with chromies and think that they are a fagg, but the next time you see him in his MK1 lotus escort he is a great guy with a cool car !!!??? Two faced ..... I Think so.
My two cents ..
I know it's a forum, but why must we all bag each other all the time ?
-
Got hit up about the dash mounted gauges a few years back , "Dangerous Attachments" was the call, untill I asked how a taxi gets a wof with that big metal box on the dash or a cop with the radar and all the other shit up there.
The wof guy came up with all sorts of answers like "they come under a different set of rules" and shit like that but after me telling him what was what he passed me .
I went stright down to where I got the cert for my car for the many other mods and asked if my gauges were illegal, I was told NO not at all, no sharp edges and out of reach to body parts if wearing a seat belt.
Other than that one time I've never had a problem with them, that was 3 years ago.
Rice or not it's not illegal. (I'd rather be rice, than not know what my engine is doing!!!)

Thanks for the comments guys, I know it's a bit of an each to their own thing, just didn't want to get laughed at thats all.
If I knew how to post up pictures I'd show you a pic of the TA with it on.
It must be just about the only louver for a TA22 in the country, couldn't be many more than 100 TA22's in NZ would there ?
GPS trackers

Looking to get a gps tracker for the car.
There seems to be a world of differance in price when comparing the ones on trade me to places that soley do them.
Cost isn't really an issue, as it needs to work 100%, but I also don't wont to get arse raped on price when a cheaper one does the same job.
Anyone had any experience with these and can recommend a good brand ?
