  1. Is a bit different, but hell, $18k for an uncompiled 616, with no brakes, exhaust, the wrong back seat, those doorcards, and that wiring.

Whoever buys that is going to have a nice shiney car with a shit load of work to do.

    Mazda tax is getting mad.

  2. Your not going to go too wrong with that capella.

    Things of note are.

no grill chrome (not too easy to get any more)

No rear tail light garnish (very hard and expensive for a tidy one)

No center console (not a hard part to get)

Series 1/2 guards and bonnets but series 3/4 dash.

Thats all I can spot at the moment.

What sort of money is he asking ?

As with any car of this age. Unless you know the car and saw first hand the panel and rebuild you should just expect that it will need work.

if it is a genuine rotary and not a converted piston you should be looking at around $12k in aus .

Cheep toy, and is a blank enough canvas to make your own.

  3. Rx2 sedan. Best rx ever. I'm not even a little bit bias.

These rust in all the usual places, around front and rear screens, bottoms of guards, open the fresh air vents (little round chrome ones left and right sides of dash) and shine a torch down them, rx2's love to rust out down there.

Check the oil cap for moisture (white froth) and test start it hot and cold.

Great cars and don't want to sound negative but, I'm sure every rx for sale has had a fresh rebuild and a bare metal respray. So be sure to really check it out, even take it to a panel beaters and get them to check it.

    Other than that. Get it.

  4. Wife had one for 3 years, loved it so much that she tradded up to a mk5 18 months ago.

Wifes was an auto, But was still a good wee car.

1800 turbo went well, had to do a couple wee maintenance jobs on it, high pressure power steering hose, and a coil, but had a warranty so no big deal.

    recaro seats were a plus.

get a low km car that no one's fucked with and you should have a good wee daily.

  5. Looking to finish my mazda this year, and one of the last jobs is the exhaust.

Car is running a 12a pp. (or not running, as the case may be)

I really hate 6 inch round, chrome mufflers on old school cars,  but I'm a bit old and still like dump pipes on rotors.

So question is, what rear muffler options are there ?

    Has to be ss packed.

    Question for the mazda buffs.

Stainless or mild steel, for the whole exhaust ?

I don't want it sounding too tinny or loud (yes, I know, rotary)

basically what I'm after is, what has anyone else done to shut their rotary up without choking it to death.

And brand names and pictures of sweet looking rear mufflers. Dump pipes optional.

    Cheers

  6. I'm keen. I haven't the slightest clue on prices though.

Do you know if it works? Also where are you based?

    I'm in Christchurch.

No idea what it's worth either, maybe someone on here can give an idea of value.

Don't think it's worth much, been sitting in a box in the shed for over 20 years.

  7. Not all jap cars.

My rx2 has heaps of room, as does my mates rx4 coupe.

My old ta22 had little to no room at all.

Ke30 corolla was fine as well.

Just nothing worse than not enjoying a car because you don't fit in it.

  8. Will have to find someone in chch with one and try it out.

havent fitted half the cars I have wanted.

Not too fussed on the latter model, just don't look as cool to me.

It's not the end of the World, would have only been a toy anyway.
