  1. Thats because facebook is full of sycophantic little arseholes.

Wow. that came out like a little bitch.

But seriously, I've never meet anybody in chch that has a good word to say about him, and many unsubstantiated clains of rotor theft.

  2. I used scotts to replace every rubber part in my rx2 and had zero problems.

The couple of times I've used Phills it has been to buy nos parts, and he has been fine, but I have never heard good things about his repro parts, then again, I've never heard good things about any repro parts.

I would have thought phill would have been better off making patch panels rather than whole panels or crappy badges.

  3. doesnt seem like theres been much goin on there lately man, its been a while now.. haha any updates?

Nah, too busy with work at the mo, and life keeps getting in the way, already had two funerals a wedding and the old man in hospital for 3 weeks so far this year.

Have taken to buying rx2 parts now, much easier and you get to keep the skin on your knuckles.

I'm still waiting for your build thread for this new toy, not going to be toxic green this time ?

  4. Is it missing anything? Front chrome strip on bonnet etc? Roof dash thingie? At current market prices, $12k would be a win.

    I love RX-4 coupes.

No, not missing anything, in fact, quite a few spares.

Still has the factory rotor shaped ignition key like my 2 has

I had a look at a 4 coupe 2 years ago, was a rolling shell, needed the whole thing to be put back together inside and out, everything in boxes.

I offered him $3500 and he sold it on trade me for $5k to that guy "tagx", so $12k or $13k for something that needs a weekends work to get on the road (yes I know, I just jinxed it) looks like a good deal.

  5. @WILDRX2:

Recently (until red coupe) wof/reg coupes have been selling for on average $12k. Project cars have struggled to get $5k. A complete car that needs work is $7k MAX unless it is your dream car and you don't care how much money you pump into it.

However the fact that that red one is on here and will sell for about $22k is going to convince all RX-4 coupe owners that that is what a coupe is worth. It also doesn't help that all the 4 sedans recently have been trying to get $20k even though NONE have sold for that.

4 coupes are lush, and one day other rotary piners will work out that they are the coolest out of all the early Mazda coupes and one day they will command large sums.

Buy early original Mazdas now, win in 10 years.

The rx4 coupe I'm looking at has it's reg on hold, and would be all of a weekend to be ready to go for a wof.

Was reg and wofed before it came of the road, and I know no reason why it wouldn't get a wof now.

The guy that owns it is looking to pass it on as he has a family now and is just over it, hasn't touched it in 9 years, other than to start it every now and then.

But as with anything you own for some time, you get attached to it and start to think it's worth more than it is, and no doubt he looks at what is listed on trade me and thinks all these rx's sell for what they are listed for.

He has mentioned that he would be wanting around $15k. I'm thinking more $12k  but we haven't started that conversation yet.

The car is good from a far, but far from good.

I will probably have to pay close to his asking price to convince him to sell, even though I know the engine might need a rebuild after sitting so long, and with all the other little things I know that need a little work on.

But it's a good solid car, and I do love the muscle car look of the rx4 coupe.

  6. Alright rotary piners.

Forgetting trademe dreamer prices, what is a fair price for an rx4 coupe ?

    Car in question has.

    13b bridge port

    ida

    5 speed

tidy body with all chrome, not mint but very tidy

lowered on hot wires, nothing fancy, lowering blocks and springs

    standard brakes and diff

    mesh recaros

has not moved for 9 years, been started but not taken from the shed.

comes with a fair amount of spare parts.

owner had started to pull the engine bay wiring appart 9 years ago and lost interest

car is basically a time capsule of a chch rotary from the late nineties, without the bolt on's and spitfires. but has the wildcat steering wheel.

just they way I like them.

So whats it worth? What would it really sell for ? Not what it would sit on trademe for 12 months like everything else .

I have a number in my head, would like to know what the os experts think.

    Cheers
