Pretty sure this guy runs an AES Exhaust system which uses a much thicker mild steel system that drops the dB and note to a deeper tone.

Unlike stainless systems that have a lot of tinny rattle, the thicker steel and the AES mufflers are a big improvement.

 

Also the Targa is an endurance event, so possibly is holding a lower gear and using brakes more, but with the puffs of smoke starting to appear, this engine is getting close to the end...

Was thinking about rotaflo mufflers, but these look to be much better.

Have not spotted them , where abouts on brougham st ?

I see the starion that parks on brougham st has had  the left rear damaged, can't believe that starion lives there without getting stolen or trashed .

Manual swap wouldn't be too hard.

Were they de-rated like most auto's were ?

It's quite tidy, little bit of rust starting under the screen, but not bad for an old girl.

Funny story with your car, (took me a while to click it was your one) the lady that owned it used to run the pub over the road from our workshop in ferrymead.

I went over and talked to her more than a couple of times about the 808, was her fathers and the only car that she liked to/ could drive.

She took it out nearly every day to take her dogs for a walk, ( they had even chewed the crap out of the gear knob) amazingly it still had a lot of the plastic still on the trims.

The last time I saw it, it was at keven Marsh automotive (now Ferrymead Automotive ) getting some rust cut out of the rear and a wee tidy up.

I think she must of had half a dozen of my business cards, from me asking her to ring me when she wanted to sell.

And. The rx7 auction has been pulled.

Someone must have made a good offer.

Would have wanted to be more than $15k, because it could have well exceeded that, but he'll never know now.

Looks like the reserve is $9k, on the rx7.

If the car is as good as the photos make it look, she is a real keeper.

Be very interesting what it goes for .

Bit of a shame he only did 200kms in 18 years, seeing as it is 90kms from chch to akaroa, he must have driven it home and clocked up the rest pulling it in and out of the garage.

Had a look at ulgy rx4 sedan the other day at turners.

Is tidy, not mint but tidy.

some twat put a shitty headunit in, with what looks to have been a chainsaw , the console vents have no ducting going to them, probably got in the way of the chainsaw, also a couple of odd broken trim bits.

interestingly enough, it has electric windows and power steering.

Will be going to the auction, but I would assume it has a reserve price set.

Seller wanted $16k on trade me, so you would have to think that would be his reserve.

I doubt it will go above $12k , but people love to bid at turners.

You have no Idea what he did with it after it left you, and you certainly never gave permission for $1200 worth of work to be done.

Just tell him to do whatever he wants to do about the second hand engine he bought off trade me five weeks ago, and wait.

If you end up in small claims, so be it, but i think you will find he never gets that far, or if you do, go with the flow, but don't worry yet.
