    2 litre info please.

How long the diff last for burnouts is how good you are at them. You dump the clutch to hard hooking second or 1st or dont have both wheels spinning its putting alot more stress on the diff. Do it right and it'll last for ages. Not for ever unfortunatly tho. The escort blocks with 70sumthng written on them is the best one ive heard. Have one in the garage ready to rebuild for my next escort project.

    mk1 cortina

    Damn text talk
  4. You can do it yourself by taking the top or middle sping out and flipping it over in a vice. Do the clips back up and put them in. This will lower it but wont do to much to the handling. I would get them done properly by Archers in Rotorua.

    escort gears

Depends if the diff is an auto diff or not. I run a 1300 auto diff with my 5sp and 2litre. When i ha that diff with my 1600 i could get 140 but that was bout it unless pushed past 5.5g Dunno bout the other gears.
  6. Big differances in the differant models alright. All depends how you bridge them, and what carbie you use. Id say 250 from just a 12a is pushing it... thats 130 to 250 just from bridging it.

Doesn't really matter which way the engine spins, as long as you have the matched gearbox. Which is pretty much compusory with Minis anyway..... Callum Didnt think bout that, im sure the mini box would work with an adaptor for a few minutes
  8. Yeah they real similar engines. Almost too similar. Back in the day there was a big court case over it as Ford said the 4age was an 80% copy of the BDA engine. Nah standard 12a out of a series 1 seven is 105hp. They respond real well to mods tho and thatll boost power big time.
  9. Yeah i brought some injections shit of jinx that iv been looking for for a while. Good deal. Cheers Jinx. If your talking bout the injectors that i got i wont be using them, To small for what im doing tho.
  10. nah old hilux head wont fit. A pre 75 full hilux axle will fit (no shortening) but needs a bit of modding on the leave holders and handbrake. Also your drive shaft will need redoing. But good luck finding one as i have been looking for round 2 years now with no luck. If you find one it is a good diff to use as it doesnt have bad ratios, solid 81/4 crown wheel. Also the later LSD diff heads are usable in them. The standard diff should last a while. Aslong as when your doing burnouts you can spin 2 wheels. Maybe ya rota cant do that tho my diff has lasted for ages now and id have round the same power as a mild worked 12a. 120hp. Hope that helps.

vtecs run backwards and so do minis. dont mock the 1300gt starlet motor till ya try it. there is one in auckland that ran a 11.8 quarter with standard 14inch biscuit wheels. Street legal as, watch out for it. It is rugged looking with patchy primmer.
  12. Falling out my arse. Unless they were made with no hole for locating. Then it is just the person how made thems own stupid fault. It is irelevent to size weather they fall out. It does make the hadnling a bit shit tho. For a cert i was told they would only cert 1 and a half inch blocks that had the hole to locate them. The u bolts also had to be solid steel rather than mild. The excess thread of the ubolt that hung out where the nut was on had to also be grinded off. (dunno why) Just reset them, "Archers" on sunset road in Rotorua do it for bout $140 a pair.
  13. I am in the early process of it now. Have most of the parts just need to rebuild the engine with forgies. The cost for me will be around $5500, but thats with forgies which are round 2g. Al depends where you get stuff form and shit. I have got an Evo7 turbo, injectors, fuel and oil pumps from a mate so that cuts alot of price down. The head is also big bucks unless you know someone. All depends what parts you use, computer is expensive unless you can tune yourself and use an AC delco, or use draw through. Hit up RT as he has done it a few times, or just look on his site it tells a very good tale. I have asked most of the questions you will ask RT so if you(RT) cant be bothered answering ill forward them. http://retrotech.orcon.net.nz/technical.html
  14. A standard 12a is 105 hp and a standard pinto is 100. Plus the pinto has way more torque, less revs but. Iv always wanted to do an SR20, Just to much cutting tho. The other option is a celica turbo engine.
  15. $150ish from Dynamics engineering in Rotorua for a shortened and balenced drive shaft.

I wont get into the Kent/Pinto debate as i think its just what you like personaly and what power you want. However, I am just wondering about this mk4-5 cortina sump. I have about 6 sumps sitting in my garage at home awaiting the chop. One of them is of a mk4 1600pinto. It is no differant to the other ones i have there. However there is a slight diferance between sierra and cortina. But not a very usefull differance. Maybe i have 5 mk4 sumps but i really doubt it, and they do not fit in if so. Also if you were to just bolt up a 1600pinto head onto a 2lpinto it wont last long. trust me. You need to either drop the compression a little bit by machining chambers, or buy forgies for 2g.

    Lumpy cam installation

Here mate https://www.burtonpower.com under tech help/camshaft fitting and timing.
  18. i was reading in a Ford tuning scope artical about shit like that. IT had about 4 differant stages of tuning for the zetec and durotec i think. They both started standard. Then for the next step they did a few things like filter and manifold normal things. Second step was more of the same really with a bit more things like injectors, cams, computer etc. Third step they went of with the injection and on with carbies. For the forth step the injection throtle body was brough back in but still with carbies. Each of these steps gaining more and more power coming out with some huge powered zetec race engine. So yeah my point is that their most powerfull tuning idea for the zetec etc was with carbies. However like said before its england.

All most all of it is do-able yourself if you are half handy. You will need to get the driveshaft shortened unless your going standard 4speed. That'll hit ya bout $150 from dynamics in Rotorua. If you cant weld then maybe the sump will also need moding but you might find one on trademe. Gearbox tunnel cut back. All of this is doable yourself if you have tools. Before i did mine i did however go down to informotive in rotorua and got a quote. They quoted $1000 to do the conversion although did not seem to really know what they were doing. Hope that helps.

    4age question

Iv been in a corolla with 4age twin 40's on it slightly ported and TRD cams. It could move out. I would say do the carby conversion on one and haul some ass. Nice sucking sound is always nice too hear aswell.
