  1. argg fark what an easy one! never please everyone thats for certain. ok even tho last minute few votes for the 9th. i still believe we'll get most people there by making same weekend as kumeu. for those entering the kumeu show which this affects the most.. can you not get arm bands in the morning, then rock out to manukau around lunch time for a few hours (have lunch)? if cars cant leave during the day, then you're not going to miss the show! jump in a couple cars that aren't entered in the show and go for a cruise! easy
  2. its pretty even stevens at the mo. would've hoped it was a clear winner
  3. just to try clear that up.. ke70/ae70/te71 had an equal spaced bolt pattern on the top hat up til *around* 1983 where they changed it to the unequal pattern that you see in ae86. that applies to all the E7 chassis cars from what ive seen. i believe the early top had bolt pattern is also same as ke30 and kp61. same as ke20 too but spun around 180degrees. about this same time, but maybe later like around 1985.. the steering arm bolt spacing on ke70/ae70 changed from 87mm (that you find in ke30's) to 85mm that you find in most T powered cars and ae86. the changeover was later than the facelift of the E7 cars. te71 always have the 85mm bolt spacing. you can also identify the differences in the struts easily by the way the disk bolts to the hub. the te71/ae86/late ke70 85mm style bolts from the inside out so the threads are in the hub. early ke70/ae70/ke30 87mm style bolt from the outside in so the threads are in the disk. the spacing between the wheel bearings are also different.. the stub axle is longer on the ae86/late E7 so the bearings are spaced wider. you cant swap a late hub on an early strut. there is also a different shaped recess for the disk bolts in the hub. 85mm style is oval, 87mm style is square. in my ke70 i run an ma45 strut, ke70 top hats, ae92GT shocks with spacers, ae86 p/s arms and about to swap disks to vented ones once ive made some caliper mounts.
  4. just remember kumeu is friday/saturday/sunday. this meet is for 3-4hrs on saturday.
  5. relating to the event thread viewtopic.php?f=20&t=19626 what weekend best suits? 2nd weekend sat 9th jan. most people still on holiday. Cannon ball run. 3rd weekend sat 16th jan. BDO on the friday. kumeu car show all weekend too. many peeps in town for these events anyways.
  6. hey fullas it seems more like 2nd or 3rd weekend. alot of people will miss it if its too close to new years eve. also many people are in aucks for BigDayOut and also the Kumeu car show. last year i made it the same weekend and worked out good for most. so thinking to go with that again.. so Saturday 16th Jan. (BDO is on the friday). the four'n'rotay nats is end of jan so i wana leave a gap on that event. cheater5.. postpone the trip!!! you have to be there but nothing set in concrete yet.. i say vote now! 9th or 16th? in here viewtopic.php?f=20&t=20500&start=0
  7. would this help? http://toycrazy.net/tech/struts.html you'll have the 85mm bolt spacing at the bottom of strut to steering arm. so yes ae86 struts could be bolted in. not sure if tt132 top hats are same bolt pattern.. so change your corona top hat onto the ae86 strut if needed since the top of the shock are same. as to lca's, ae86 and ke70 (rack) are identical from what i could see. te71 and any recirculating ball steering e7 versions have a steering arm stopper on the lca and steering arm. tt132 and ke30 lca's are identical. you could always do the 504 peugeot disk with hilux 4pot calipers to your stock struts?
  8. get an RN41 hilux G series diff. 1420mm wide so dont need to shorten F series wouldn't last for ever with that sort of power T and F series are different bolt pattern, not just bolt size
  9. ma46 is a US spec'd supra.. which we didn't get? our ma45 are the jap spec ones and have a smaller 6.7" diff. hmm. ha yeah costs a fortune to store the shit too. ended up building a diff rack to get the live axles off the floor good to hear it worked out. are they still adamant the original crown/pinion wouldn't work with the lsd?
  10. this altezza diff is not from the GITA model is it? the 2jz model... they have bigger diff i believe.
  11. did this diff guy measure anything up or had done the swap previously before saying these things? theres one guy in the link below saying he used a spacer on the crown.. who knows if he kept the gears as a set. i found the live axle side bearing was wider than the altezza.. but the width of the carriers were different so they ended up both being 150mm wide outside to outside once fitted. outside diameter was the same. pretty sure ID is same too. its the WIDTH that varies. different offset crown? sure these are same ratios? live axle head has side bearing adjustment nuts.. they're there for good reason will be interesting to see how you go with it. http://www.toymods.net/forums/showthrea ... +live+axle
  12. side bearings stay with the carrier.. so if using altezza clutch lsd into live axle housing.. keep the altezza bearings.
  13. lol at retaliation. so your user name is your p-plate huh? mine could be too, but it aint. 80's cosmo all good. roudy rotor.. boso styles i guess (but please swap some jdm goodness onto those hubs for the day)
  14. was talking with david the other day (ma61 supra owner near pukekohe) who suggested the carpark at the old Ford plant on plunket ave, manukau.. where there's a monthy hotrod meet and they go into the cafe for eats etc. didn't realise he'd already rang up about it but anyways.. went in and talked to Bonnie at bellagios (sp) cafe and she was quite open to the idea of bunch of cars rocking up, talking talk stuff and going in for eats etc. she doesn't usually open on weekends but would for an old car meet. other shops on the same property are open sat morning so would be shared carpark on a saturday but carpark still plenty big enough. easy to find from southern motorway. sounds promising.
  15. not yet.. could be on the cards. judging etc? awards for best of manufacturer? best engine bay? best rims? best girlfriend? not fussed if location is a bit out of the way.. but pref easy to follow directions and reasonably close to auckland and shops.
  16. lol at pic Was given a '72 civic once.. one of those little bumble bee things. 1300 5speed. managed 150k flat out. thats about when i lost sight of the road and slammed it into side of a bridge.
  17. yeah that be him. was quite accommodating considering the invasion he had that day. that park usually pretty busy. we're normally at the opposite side of roundabout from bbq's which is good for up to around 50+ cars when it's empty.. and there's a paddock right below it towards the asb showgrounds. like the first meet... http://www.toycrazy.net/gallery/classic ... /index.htm lots of GC's turn up and never had any issues in the last 3 meets. grass could be temptation for an idiot so can't speak for everyone.. but generally excrellent behavior. only takes one dickhead to phuck it for everyone tho. Although my mint-as sign went walkies from the entrance.. massive effort went into this http://i290.photobucket.com/albums/ll24 ... G_2595.jpg spelt meet the oldschool way = Jap Meat lol
  18. dude now that would be great! theres a few paddocks around the area that would work well. maybe chuck some sheep in em a week or two before hand? let us know how you get on. was crowded at last one due to an unforseen chinese festival at the asb showgrounds. we moved from the carpark to the other side of round-about where the bbq's are.. and it was a squish, but turned out well. the caretaker dude (sounded south african?) with the Gator was really helpfull and suggested the other spot. did my best to make sure the meet didn't conflict with any other car related events.. but then, free public parking has no guarantees.. so i think next one needs to be dedicated venue. especially if people coming up from south island! i reckon a small entry fee would really get the meet on it's feet.. a bit of advertising etc will definately help could consider council parks etc (fees involved). but will def need volunteers to help setup and control things...
  19. correct. anything classic or oldschool. but aiming more towards jap/euro flavours due to somewhat lack of events in NZ.
  20. nearly that time of year again The Annual New Year Classic Japanese & Oldschool Meet For Jap and Euro pre '85(ish) cars (loosely) Where: Bellagio Cafe, (Ex Ford Plant carpark) - Plunket Ave - Manukau City AUCKLAND When: Saturday 16th January 2010, 10am-3pm (11am-2pm usually best) Same weekend as BigDayOut (fri), the Kumeu car show (sat-sun), rotor summerdrags (sun). tell your friends! be there previous events gallery and info here Buffet lunch approx $15, put name down if interested, need to know numbers. 21. oh add this to the list of available lsd! TOMEI http://www.tomei-p.co.jp/_2003web-catal ... rset_2.htm the housings pictured at bottom of that page look like the kaaz hmmm
  22. hey sheepers.. i found some trd lsd pics. i think they're british. this is a selective G series lsd http://www.rhdjapan.com/jdm/TRD-Selecti ... upra-51645 which looks like same pic as a selective F series on that website. http://www.rhdjapan.com/jdm/TRD-Selecti ... GA70-51643 this diff varies in operation to the 1.5/2 way below. this one lists a heap of older toyota's like ta63, ra63, aa63, cressida, mark2, crown, soarer, supra, altezza etc. i guess a new lsd does't come with side bearings which is why they list the associated part number. still puzzled about side shaft difference? http://www.rhdjapan.com/jdm/TRD-2-Way-L ... tial-28697 but note how the side bearings and stub axles vary between the non lsd and lsd diffs. also the different bearings between certain models. so not all created equal. looks like the side bearing needs to match the carrier fitted whether it be lsd or not. the 6mm removed from side axle i can understand.. as the non lsd toyota axle have a bit of extra metal on the end... what gets me is the 'exclusive drive shaft required' and 'exclusive side gear shaft required'... the driveshaft i would assume is a different bolt pattern as seen on commercial diffs tend to be 85pcd instead of 78. maybe the non lsd differs from lsd models? meh redrill it if thats the case. the side gear axle is what i'd be interested to know about.. is there a different spline size? or does the 1gfe altezza/supra just have completely different internals or something? gx61, gx71, ta63, ma61 etc side gear shaft difference.. spline is same.. length varies
  23. hey wasn't saying these ratio's don't exist.. was meaning didn't think it was a factory option in the altezza. that was what the lexus/altezza club guys were saying when i asked about it. i've seen F series 3.5 - 4.77 in the rear of cars/vans.. and i'd imagine the hilux IFS come with F series crown/pinion in 4.9, 5.1 ratios etc so there's a fair few options available. 3.1 is a new one and rather distant to the nearest size up. the only 3.1 ratio i can find in the diff list is the 39 code so was it a F392? F372 exists for sure as does F362. seems alot of similar numbers that could've easily mixed up tho. then again ive yet to see a factory 1ggeu gx6#. every rwd toyota nut should know these off memory... ---------- code=ratio 37 = 3.58 30 = 3.73 31 = 3.91 29 = 4.10 28 = 4.30 25 = 4.56 36 = 4.78 14 = 4.88 15 = 5.13 (rounded to 2 decimal places)
