  1. I found this stuff under the front guards of my falcon as a "space" filler kind of crap. I think the old stuff is a tar based thing. Its abit different to those other sealants (ive used them when building trucks in the past). Its not really sticky at all

  2. Just run straight ATF dexron 3 or a GL4 75w85. Depends what the "shockproof" additive is thats in it, but half the time its LSD additive which makes shifting harder. LSD additive is slipperier = syncros not working so good. Use a GL4 not  GL5 for better shifting.

If you want the best oil for warn syncros go with a multi purpose tractor trans/hydraulic oil. Normally called an Agri super or somthing. It has a wet brake additive which bites in better. Just dont tell anyone you are using it on the road as its illegal apparently. Has no colour.

  3. I think a read recently also that the later model falcons, XE/XF onwards had a larger front swaybar standard. Went from 22mm to 25mm or somthing like that. Look into that for a possibly cheap upgrade.

Using the XG/XH steering boxes is good too. They have a needle roller bearing in the top of the case instead of the useless bronze bush that wears in about 10,000km and gives all that slop when straight ahead.

  4. With the shelby drop, need to be careful with top ball joint bind and snapping off if you are lowering it as well. Main issue is that the after market ball joints dont have as much articulation as the factory ford ones.

If you can find Ford ones you will be sweet. other option is slightly modifying the top arms to change the ball joint angle. Thats what im going to do on the XE. You used to be able to buy a "mustang ball joint wedge kit" that corrected the ball joint angle also. it seems they are not made any more/you could make it yourself i guess.

It sounds like the shelby drop does make a good difference.

Edit - Adding spacers to the top bracket thing for the strut seems to work well also. Ive added 25mm to mine and i think Lee has the same on his falcon.

Edit #2 - Noticed in your build thread that you already have...

  5. You come across as a bright young man mr Sparkle. I think you have the grey matter to have a play with injection. Now is the time as you could build your own MS unit in the evenings and learn as you go well before you need to wire it in.

If you are keen on going down this path Sprak, ill be doing this as well in the near future. Keen to make my own and install in the XE. Ive worked out that there is a 140% chance my 1980s bosch wiring will crap out.

Its a cheap option and good to learn. We can have bonding time while EFIing...

  6. Sidies. You have the manifold, why make things anymore difficult?

Decide what you like. Either looks, performance/economy or period correctness. You know what you want. In the end its gonna pretty much cost the same and be just as much mucking around whatever way you go.

    As long as its Doorting.
