  1. Generally if your rings are fisted, youe motor will smoke like fuck under load. I'm prepared to wager that valve guide seals will fix daves motor. Besides, if it smokes while you're driving, you don't see it.

  2. Yeah I'm in CHurChur have met a few of the local members, most haven't replied here though lol

Could be k33n for Datto cruise as I need an excuse to drive my car since getting t3h company vehicle haha

Go join up at http://www.datsun.co.nz dude. We a four or five cruises a year,(And even more piss ups) and I'm sure no-one would mind a nissan as old as yours tagging along.

    What motor you running?

  3. Your mate wanted stronger rods?!!!!!! What is it in, a top fueler? They a a fucking gigantic donk, which weighs a ton. But they say they are fucking near indestructable. (within reason of course) I'm in too minds about whether to go FJ20E+s/c, or CA18det(-T)+s/c for my datsun 510. There is an FJ20eT in at osaka auto parts atm.

Some of the guys at fj20.com are making 300hp out of FJ20e=T's, with out changing much else. But the NZ new na motors had a higher CR than the overseas market motors. I would love one, and can get a complete n/a one for the right price, but A CA it much easier. (And I already have one) Plus to make it handle with a mill that big in your engine bay is kinda playing catch up rugby in a matter of speaking. In my mind they kinda have the WOW factor in a similar ilk to the 426 hemi, well maybe the four cylinder equivalent . And perhaps more so the FJ24, but you get the drift.

  4. I have a 12v hairdryer, that I tries to use as a demister in my datsun. It was a wonderful thought, but it get fuucking cold here in CHCH in the winter. I'd find myself sitting at the lights with it in my lap trying to warm my hands, and demist the windscreen. Not much help I know. You could try camping stores and see what they have?

  5. I must concur with shizzl.

The powerband of a J port, is so far up the rev range, that when it's doing it's thang, the seals are going to fuck out, and gall the housings.

No offence, but you are pulling yourself if you want to build a fuck off death engine, with parts that are half fucked to begin with. A J needs carbon seals. end of story. Don't be a tight cunt, and do it proper. People with no money (like me) taking half arsed shortcuts, is one (Of the many) reasons why rotors have a bad rap for being unreliable piles of shit. If they didn't pull ho's no-one would bother with them. There's fuck all chance I'll own another one.

  6. Thats a C32. My dads partner paid $9K for a "grand extra" one of those about 10 years ago. It's just about had it now, but man that car just goes and goes and goes. The LD28 is arguablely one of the best engines ever made. They are a bit noisey, but they go forever. You can drive them flat out for weeks on end. PLus, that one is a manual. Meaning you could later do a transplant to an RB or similar. Shit, I might show the old man that auction.

  7. Lots of people want them, just who has that kind of $$$ burning a whole in their pocket? Not me! Yeah, part over there are criminally cheap. Most wankers on Ebay won't ship overseas. My Dad has a mate in L.A. to whom all his goodies get sent. Then he onsends them to a guy who sends containers of cars out here, so the freight is way cheaper.

I'd say if you're going to bring something out, choose VERY carefully!

  8. 2 smoke outboard engines have small cooling capilaries, to compensate for the very cold water that runs through them. The downside of this is that when you have a motor like that in a car there can be issues keeping it cool. Not saying it can't be done.

My old mans outboard is a 2.7ltr V6 which generates 225hp.

  9. get off the dole and get a job

A long while ago, their was a govt in Europe which solved unemployment by passing a law that said you either turned up to work, or went to jail. That would solve a lot of crime here. You can't be out stealing shit if you have to get up for work in the morning. And if you don't go to work, you get locked up anyway. Brilliant! Unfortunately, they got kinda sidetracked with some other policies that kinda made them a bit unpopular.

  10. Gear oil is smelly shit. I got some on myself once. I ended up throwing away the top I was wearing under over overalls. Fuck I hate the shit. Sythetic stuff doesn't smell as bad.

  11. The datto site could tend to be a bit biased. Yvette's ute is awesome, and john used a 4g63 crank to get a CA20DEZ combo so it's a BIT different to what I'm looking at.

    Mint idea, I will run with it. :D CA18DE + SC14. awesome.

Nah mate, john just used a ca18 crank. You must be thinking of someone else.

  12. Why are you asking this here?!!!!

You must surely know that there are heaps of these on the datsun site.

    4trubble, 2doors, and skdmrx are/have done it.

John (Skdmrx) said if he did it again, he'd use DE pistons anyway. With the lower boost levels blower set ups use, the higher comp pistons aren't really a disadvantage. Just get a proper head gasket. (Good quality metal one)

People almost give away CA18de's. On sensible boost, an S/C14 will be just fine. Just do it man!!!

I'm now leaning towards a screw blown CA18 for my 1600. After riding in Dan's old CA turb'd 1600, I have a new respect for them.........
