  1. FTR, vals handle like shit/chew front tyres if they are on the stops up front.

Drop spindles enable filthy lowness with less dieased-ness. But on the whole dispite looking uber sick, too low on a VAl is ftl.

Yeah, you should buy it fo sho RT. I have untold val parts gathering dust/leaves too.

  2. I'm in the wont effect me catagory. In CHCH it'll only be the four ave's after dark where you wont be allowed to cruise. Then when people cant roll there anymore, they'll go somewhere else. And then those streets will get included too. This will go on forever. I don't go out fuck all at night anyway, and certinally don't take my datto out. Last time I did (To pick up a mate from the airport) I made a point of not taking the ave's, even though it was the shortest route.

Although doesn't it refer to repeatedly driving over a piece of road?

But the whole suspecting a car is dodgey is a fuck off big can of worms. I Spoke to Wayne Martin a while ago, and he said what EVERYONE who gets rolled needs to do is fight any tickets/charges, and plead not guilty ect. If averyone did that, the entire court system would grind to a screaming halt. He also said the cops will target a few individuals over and over again till their cars get sqaushed.

  3. Are the tapped bolt holes in the crownwheel bigger or smaller than the holes in the crownwheel that you're replacing? It the bolts that hold your crownwheel to the carrier are smaller than the holes in the carrier, my bushes slip over the bolts (snugly) and have the same OD as the ID of the hole in the carrier.

    Does that make sense?

What was the diff from originally? Vals ran 25 spline axles also.

  4. most vals ran the type 78 diff boe. How many spline are your axles?

I can turn you up sone adapter bushes to make the bolts you have fit if need be. I've sold a few sets to peeps who have adapted R200 VLSD's to longnose R200's for datsuns.

Depending on the spline count, the 3.23:1 is the diff for choice for Vals. The E series chargers an said ratio in them. (But they were a handfull in the wet!)

  5. Hey kiddies, it's that time again!

This Epic day of non stop datsun madness is open to all Datsuns, Datsun era Nissans, and vehicles manufactured by the prince motor company.

SUNDAY, 25th of October. (The sunday of labour weekend)

Meeting, at the halswell domain, Halswell rd at 9:30 am.

we're going to Akaroa, with a few pub stops along the way. And a BBQ lunch in Akaroa.

This is going to be the biggest datsun get-together in the country this year! Last year saw 31 cars turn out, and the weather was atrocious! We have members coming from as far away as the Hawkes bay!

bring your datto out, and come meet a great bunch of like minded people.

further details can be found here; http://www.nzdatsun.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=413

    Tell your friends!

PS, Dave and Rob, I fully expect you two sad bastards to make the effort and show up! :P

  6. I did a winter in my 1200 with no heater. A friend gave me a 12V hair dryer that he had left over from a hotrod he'd owned. I'd drive to work on a bitterly cold frosty morning wearing gloves, with the dryer in one hand trying to defrost the window so I could see. It was up to fuck all I'd have to say. Doesn't mean you can't get better ones though.

FTR, I'm going to install a factory heater back into the 1200 at some time. 80% of the energy is lost as heat, and considering how friggin cold it gets here, I gag to put some of it to good use!

  7. Hey,

I have an inline four which I'm slapping together with pistons from another flavour on engine. I don't know which way the piston is suposed to go on the pin, (There is no notch to say front on them)So which way does the gudgeon pin offset go. (as a rule of thumb)
