  1. + Bart is going to come moleste you now

Greetings. I'm Bart, Chairman of the NZ datsun club inc.

FJ's are the shit! Was this the datto on tardme a little while ago? I know a rooster who has some live plates for one of these. You should put it on the road, and join the epic madness that is the NZDatsun club.

www.nzdatsun.com. Most of us are in the greater CHCH area too.

  2. you can run one legally, but you will need a motorsport authaurity card to get a wof. This requires a motorsport logbook. So if you're not using your car on a track, you

re gonna need a cable one too........

  3. what the fuck Liam, have you been smoking crack?

You hocked off you toyota to buy this thing? I might be an old cunt (read probably am) but when I was your age cars like this were usually seen on their roofs at the wiamak burned out.

FFS, Buy a datsun and join the cool kids! :P

  4. while we are on this topis , i need poeple who have pulled apart de and det's to tell me if the de's have oil squirters because i have come acroos some rather conflicting info the the net re the squirters and the crank gridle .

Some of the later DE motors did have gridles. I bought a Ca18det in bits for a box of woodies that had had the girdle given away to a guy with an early det that had none. Then I got the girdle from a late DE.

  5. Why not be different? Chuck in a nissan A15, and then super/turbo charge it. The A15 is a near indestrucable motor, cheap light, and readliy available. It'd probably weigh less than the hunter motor, so the car would be better to drive right from the get go. No distrespect to the 1725 fiends, but english motors were designed and built in pre war factories with dirt floors. So I'd say repower it, then modify it. You'd be able to get enough bits for the conversion for $500.

edit, I have a drawthrough supercharged A15 in my datsun 1200. Made 124hp and It's run a 14.1@96mph on 10psi. Torque is FTMFW!

  6. The motor from the sunny may be a tiny bit different in the mount department, but an A15 wont be hard to fit. If you'd like some ideas about making an A series go hard, try www.datsun1200.com.

But a brief over veiw would be a lumpy cam, shaved head, (oval port from an A15, but you should be using an A15 anyway) Dual valves springs (Kelford Camtech can supply these) And headers. (you might have to make these, I don't know that off the shelf headers exist in nz for the FWD A series) And either a pair of 40mm delorto's or just a 32/36 webber. It all been done before though. It's not even that hard to turbo these motors.

  7. What size are the dowel holes where the kingpin dowels go through the spring pads? Vals have quite small holes, and falcons used a much larger one. (We used to make up bushes to make the falcon ones work in a val)

Also, how many spline are the axles? If it has a high spline count, you might be onto a winner!

  8. it's been and gone, but there is a meet on later this month. Yeah, you need a wof and reg, or you need to get a tech inspector to inspect your car. Then you get a log book, and you can race without wof and rego.

Talk to the NZDRA or the NBDRC to find out who a tech inspector near you is.
