That guy sitting up on the gate in the NZDASTSUN.COM tee shirt is a handsome devil!
-
It was a great turnout!
And the skids were excellent. Nissans dominated the skidpad. And lots of them broke/caught fire.
I can't wait for the next night drags.
I'm also itching to fine tune my car too. It sooo needs a locked diff.
Bart came close to his PBNot such a great feat when my PB is so slow though.
Actually there were lots of cars there doing 14's. So it a good feild for your average fast street car. They didn't get the DYO thing working in the end, which was a bit of a shame for the slower guys. But my consistincey was all up the fuck, so it worked well for me.

pay money to destroy your own tyres with your own fuel in your own car so people that have paid less can watch hmmm not a sound investment one thinks
and you own a rotor? Hmmmmm.
Better to do it at ruapuna than at the diesels ow!
-
I've got loads of front end grip, but I'm very reluctant to push on the rear too hard for fear of it swapping ends on me. Plus the balance of the car is a bit off, which also effects the way the brakes respond. as well as my tyres being old as fuck too.
I'm not talking about slamming it on it's arse, just lowering it so it sits level.
-
If I slammed on some 155/50/13's then the tyres would clear the guards and I could lower it. But it would probably tripple or quadruple my 60ft times. But good things take time.

In my experience you get cut a lot more slack when you're part of an organised group. The police spoke to us once on one of our cruises, and they just told me (as the organiser) to tell everyone to pull their heads in and tow the line. They could very well have blocked the exits and been cunts about it. But since most cars were old as fuck (and not a bunch of desprung D1 wannabe's) they delt with the situation acordingly.
-
Actually, I think it was a good idea.
If you have a convoy of 30 datsuns, or 30 toyotas or 30 hot rods, or muscle cars, then it's clearly a club event. If you get a huge group of all sorts, then it's more likely to be a mob of hoons going out to do some skids.
Playing by the rules is smart. If you think it was a shit idea, then you must be the kind of person who makes life hard for the rest of us actual car enthusiests. So maybe you should stay home so you dont ruin it for the rest of us.
End rant.

If you want the good oil RT, be talking to Wyane Martin in Waller tce. He's VERY helpful. There has been a book released about modifying cars by the LVVTA, called the hobby car technical manual. It tells you everything about doing things the right way. But it costs a fucking fortune though.
The basic gist of ground cleance rules pertain more to if you get a flat tyre the chassis cant hit the road and cause you to roll. A zhorst/skirt/sump will be able to deform ect which while it's still a bad buzz isnt going to result in the car tipping over onto it's roof. (Which would be even more of a bad buzz)

Um, I'm not not 100% sure of the diamentions. (but can find out) he has a 180B in there with enough room to get around it, and a shitload of space behind the car too.
EDIT, 3x7.5

Steer clear of the Aussie brand "performance springs" They are complete shit.
-
I know another bloke who has a storage unit which he's about to quit. Loads of room to work on his car there. $57 per week though.......
Someplace in woolston.

If you ever short the starter out with a screw driver to make it crank over ALWAYS make usre you aint in gear 1st. More than one person has been killed this way in days gone by.
-
'twas nice to take the old girl out for a blat. Only the 2nd time I've driven her since feb. Definately got me amped up to improve the handling on the 1200.

Kelford Camtech sell uprated valvesprings.

most modern diesels (well all cars really) use an electronic speedo. You just find the wire from the transducer to the speedo and fit a switch. then if the 5.0 pull you up, flick the switch back and if they make you drive down the road to see if it works you'll be sweet.
diseasel is ftl though.

Powerbuilt are pretty average. I have a big combination spanner set in imperial by them, and they are never gonna brake, but their socket set I have is shithouse.
-
we could fat up over evans pass, round thru to lyttleton round to the governers bay pub then round to teddington for a beer at the wheafsheaf and round to gebbies pass back to the sign of the kiwi. Thats a route the NZdatsun club does every queens birthday.

to dereg a vehicle the postshop/nzta agant will record your liscence number on the form. The best bet would be to steal the plates off the car. Then they'd have to put it in their name to get new plates for it.
Or torch the fucker.
yeah fuck them, burn it.
