  1. In defence of of snow tyres, I chucked a set of bridgestone Blizzaks I scored for free onto my suby leone snow boarding hack. And, it made it own the access roads. Like made a primo improvement. Only kicker is you have to drive for an hour and a bit to get to the mountain. But I love them to bits. Hopefully all the cunts who don't know how to drive getting rid of them will mean I'll always have a good supply.

  2. Given how insanely heavy VF/VG bonnets are, you might as well do it right from the outset and find an f/glass dart front for it. Then you'll be able to run one of those sweet bonnet scoops that darts ran.

Plus decent vf/vg gaurds are getting too valuable to be going altering them in a manor thaat couldn't be reversed.

  3. I have no pics, but I very recently cleaned out my great uncles garage as he was moving into an apartment in a complex for old cats. I haven't gone through all the treasures, but there is a but load of old tools in amongst that lot. We just moved it all into our workshop. I did find a sidchrome box just a bit bigger than an impact driver box, with about 7 or 8 1/2 drive sockets and a short powerbar. And they are mint! I mean I think some of them have never even seen a nut or bolt. And the foil sticker inside the lid says "garanteed unconditionally". Old sidchrome sockets are FTMFW! I've done unholy things with my dads oldschool sidchrome set and it never even looks like faultering.

  4. I've read that having the line hone done is important with ARP's.

They actually give increased clamping force on the main cap once they're tightened. (More clamping than would be acheived with the OEM bolts at the same torque) So the shape can alter. As Clint said, you may well get away with it, but it's your call. I don't see why you'd spend the money on the bolts and not have it done.

  5. Nice build man.

I love you reversing light! If it were my car, I'd wire up a sneaky switch so that you can flash it at tailgaters. Not exactly legal, but lots of fun. I used to run a switch on one of my old 1200's. If someone parked up my arse at a red light, id switch on my back up lights, peel out when the light went green. They'd be bracing for impact in my rear veiw.

  6. I hope you do get those mounts mate.

Then you'll be able to replace the fail-tastic 1256 with an infinitely superior Datsmo powerplant. The best part being with a few small mods you'l be able to smoke mr CUL8ers G200-a-fied shove-it.

  7. In a heavier shell like a shove-it (well, they're heay compared to a datsun 1200) you'll go better with the 56a four speed. They have a shorter 2nd gear which is a bit less of a jump from 1st. So they pull a bit harder down low.

  8. do you mean an A15? if so the mounts would work for an A12 straight bolt in. You can get sweet running A12's for piss money, and even a smoked A12 would own a 1265. (even with one plug wire pulled off)

  9. yeah, thats fully what I thought.

But at FABO, (which is a hive of hardcore technical wisdom) people were perpetuating the myth hard. And I can recall some lepper at the first place I worked out of school tripping about not running open pipes on his moto for fear of burning valves.

    Epic fail.

  10. question,

The old fable that driving a machine with no exhaust system will burn the exhaust valves though too low back pressure

    Truth or wives tale?

I saw a post at forabodies only a month or so back where a guy said he'd lost compression on one cyl of a new engine after gently driving it accross town with open pipes. People were all like that'll be burnt valve for sure.

And I remember cunts saying stuff like that back in the day too.

But, I've done whole road trips like nelson to chch with an open pipe before. Plus the umpteen drag cars that run open pipes too. So wtf?

    Discuss!
