scumbag chiming in. Always roll wof on my bikes. but havent bought rego since 2019
And just keep on hold permanently?
-
Also, is there a register somewhere of who does bike wof's? I always try to go to local wof dudes so I dont waste my weekend getting warrants, but they are so hard to find
-
based on current stats, I get caught once every 3 years
And I dont recall the last time I parked where I was concerned about wardens, do they offer the same fines as a police pull over?
-
Anyone worked out the real costs/savings of rolling a motorbike reg on hold permanently vs being fully wof'd and reg'd all the time? Got 2 bikes that need wof and reg and the costs are ridiculous, plus hardly anywhere does wof's on bikes

Ended up buying a 1980 Yamaha DT175 with reg on hold

TS185ER's are epic bikes. Solid motors and frames, but shit clutch cable routing and nasty plastics. All parts incl gasket sets and rod kits are standardly available in NZ from your Suzuki local. Only brake cable will need to be ebay sourced.
Good luck finding a road legal one for a reasonable price though.
Compared to a CT, they have a powerband that could take you by surprise. Way more go than a CT though. An extra more vicious 9hp or so. Nothing like water-cooled modern 2 strokes though.
How is bike size compared to a CT, and how about 125 vs 185?
Assuming you cold get road reg, would you go 185 100% of the time?

It would be lush, but I want to stay with the small to medium bike lifestyle, and KDX spare parts seem quite hard to find, plus the price is high. TS is much more budget friendly

been reading up on ts125, tc125 and ts185 bikes, I want to buy one but there are none around auckland I can look at IRL. I see that they are all a similar size and weight in the stats (and only slightly bigger than a CT), but does anyone have real world experience with them? Are they a big feeling bike, or not, and maybe how they compare to something like a CT90/110. Anything I should know/general review. Would you go for a 185 over a 125, or are they very similar, does the 185 feel way bigger?

Man, I’m so jelly of all the 50cc 2 stroke super motards cruising around France. Had a look at importing one to NZ but it will be like 10k landed which is well above how much I am willing to spend

Yeah cheap to buy, service, insure and cheap on gas whilst still being peppy enough (800ish kgs helps) with good handling to still have some fun on twisty roads.
I'm surprised there's no economy rating on TM- I wonder if this is partly due to it (actual real world economy) being a tricky/divisive thing to properly quantify?
There is an economy rating when you look on mobile at least, you just can’t search by economy

Out of interest I just tried searching cars for sale on trademe by fuel economy rating, and you can’t, even though it is mostly noted. Is this why everyone is celebrating the k11? Finally found a generally sweet car with good fuel economy

Anyone dealt with laser welders? Seems interesting
This video they are welding 12mm plate which isnt ideal for it IMO, but seems like it would be legit for thin stuff. More talking about a working environment vs car work

Buy one with seats already fitted and remove them.
Getting seats fitted and certed can be $$$$
There has been a bit of an excess of vans with unwanted seats since covid for some reason , I've done quite a few where the certed seats have all been removed and the vehicle put back to original or changed to a camper van
Sweet, is it a major to remove/move seats around? Needs a recert I guess?
-
Hey @cletus is it easier to buy a van with many seats and remove some, or buy a van without seats and add some? I want a big van with just one row of seats just behind the driver seats, just wondering if it makes sense to buy one particular type as a starting point

After spending 5 years as virtually the only actual small bike at 69cc, my 175cc upgrade is def medium. CT’s are a weird intermediate, but def not small bike IMO, along with all the other Lifan stuff. 69cc is great fun but too punishing on the rides we go on these days
