we have one of these that was used in fuel only we ended up getting carbs so have it laying around. (i tihnk 90% of my problems were fucked 1970s injectors)

i have no idea of its iginition side

but the fuel side as far as i can tell is generic.

Why does nobody use a conventional gearbox behind one of these things? Its always the stocker gearbox, and then various workarounds to get reverse.

just a point on this, working under a guy that builds bike engines for dirt track, he chops the gearbox off on bandsaw, cleans the remaining surface off in the mill, plates it up, pretty much done/ultra simple.

team that up with an adaptor plate and a suitable gearbag and youd be in business

(i bet youd sell alot of adaptor plates too)

i had never seen or heard of a rivnut but i imagine its is ultra awesome and usefull and can see it being widely used in my future. like the day i found ratcheting ring spanners.

i have a small mountain of these engines, after youve had fun with it, id be keen on the carbs, ignitor box, and coils, likewise if your after anything i may have it.

yea go spend money on propper paint my matty B cost around $200 but that was with 3l of paint, shitloads of thinners, primer and 10l of prepsol. Just paint it outside and push it in the shed will be fine unless its windy the results are a million times better than cans.

Also just ask your paint shop how to mix it etc

could you do something like build open side of the cam up 10mm, ressemble the head , clay the pistons then grind the lobes back (in place) untill they all have the same clearance. take the cam back out and clean up the ramp?

for stuff like your doing there all much of a muchness,get one from weld.co.nz for $100 with adjustable everything and wont make your neck sore after 5 hours.

purists may get upset at you learning with one, but they really are the best thing since sliced bread and youl get ontop of the basics exponentially quicker.
