Would have been my choice too but welder wanted to do it that way. Don’t agree with a few things done but not in a position to argue

Da truck floor is all but finished! And I forgot to take a photo! Cock move!
Here’s a patch under the rear seat, there was some rust and it got mangled when we took the old spring mounts out.
And I got the floor out and in, fit magic
REALLY wish they had stock of the LH side when I ordered it. They had to supply pieces and they sucked. The front was a home-made looking piece that didn’t reach the edges of my rust, and the rear was actually in good shape so unrequired. Would have loved to have two nice pans and would have been half the work to fit

Haven’t presented themselves yet..
Will have to borrow the 12 slots and eagers off the falcon until they do!

Hell yeah, plasma cutting & Turfing the old pieces in a pile was pretty satisfying too!
the guy I got the car off has a 2-piece pressed boot floor on trademe but there’s no way in hell I’m giving him any more of my money! (Also wants to triple his money by the looks)

Mean! We have chassis rail and torsion bar crossmember. Stuck the suspension back in so it can go on the ground and lose the bracing for floor replacement soon.
Part way through the boot floor at the end of the day.
I have no rhythm so it’s my fault we buggered up the hump and we had to chop it out and make separately to cover the high portion of the tank.- 30

Good day had
heres that channel I spoke of last night.
This wee channel sits under the parcel tray and out to the edge of the boot. Wasn’t too bad till I hit it with the blaster and the bottom became Braille.
Bro amalgamated the rear
rail fell out, took some of the torsion support and floor with itI replaced the lower arm bushes and the radius rod bushes and lubed everything up while it was apart. Like a penis, I left the tin of paint in chch I intended to coat all this suspension stuff while it was apart! I got some black zinc in the tight places and I’ll get the rest at a later date.

Had a shit as sleep so today was a proper mission.
spine of both quarters is welded and ground, didn’t move too much with the tig.
this is drivers side behind the end cap above tail lamp
Progress shot. rear parcel tray, tulip panel and window corners being gutted out.
brother fanged out a new piece for parcel tray dropdown.. it rotted as the piece above rusted.
he also made that bit which is a C section same profile (not pictured)
here’s a throwback reminder.
I fluffed around with the corners, pretty crazy shapes involved and 3 layers.

hinges cleaned and blasted. Carefully hit the wiper motor too.
The wiring sleeve has disintegrated and my brush on tape went hard in the cupboard.Mrs suggested epoxy glue/araldite so I drizzled that on and worked pretty well!
Have painted half of it just waiting for some to dry, to mask off of.Was about to black epoxy-etch the hinges and inner of guards but it had gone weird.. I mixed the living piss out of it and decided to try it anyway. Avoided doing the hinges because they would be awful to blast again if it stayed soft.
Heater blower, love this colour! Although VHT engine enamel, SP405 from memory..Left over from Mrs old 302 rebuildGuards got plenty of epoxy, narrowed the nozzle and jizzed it into all the gaps and holes, suck it corrosion; you’ve had your turn with this car
Starter received a good clean and some paint.
Wish I had a vapour blasterAnyway, I head back down south again tomorrow under level 3 to do more of the body! Here’s a nice example I spotted too

Getting into the guards:
made some more bits but waiting for rust kill to cure before finishing. The other guard is actually in great shape, it’s off a donor car. No rust just a wee dent at the bottom I worked out a bit better (can’t get to the back side because reinforcer in the way)
Chipped off the underseal as some was loose and asking for trouble later

Hood frame got a big wire-wheeling and epoxy etched + a couple of days to cure. Soon I’ll fill the wee pinholes, clean the scoops and put back together
Headlight time.
Sand blaster has been running hot for days!
Anything metal gets a blast Otherwise just a clean and polish. Got the NZ dipping style lamp in too. Now to finish the other side.- 18

Not the lockdown news I wanted to hear with a week of annual leave left..but here we go.
One of the splash/inner guards..underseal straight over bare metal!
blasted, rust converted and black zinc. This ugly lump of fuck could have gone back in and been sent, but it would annoy me and I’ve got time on my hands.
good to see a new cam and followers too! There been a leak but this thing hasn’t run much, Still assembly lube in places. Hope this doesn’t bite me later, I’ve cleaned it up and will do a few oil changes and filters.someone has port matched it too.

I inadvertently stocked up with parts last week so I have new wheel bearings, discs, pads, brake hoses and a proper non-recovery radiator cap to go on at some point

Have been driving this as my daily since I sold the 1200 at the start of the year. New lockdown means I can do a few jobs.
my mate had a set of extractors come up so he finally got them off and I grabbed them. Supposedly do good things for fuel economy. Shame I drive it for 7 months before they arrived!
Ive always loved that Trust blue look and it will contrast well with the yellow.
found a flange gasket I’d hoarded that fit nicely after elongating the bolt holes a bit. The pipe before the flange is a bit ugly but I’ll see if I stays or goes once offered-up to the car.
Depending on lockdown length, I have enough product to panel and paint it too. Been on the list a long time but it’s been perfectly useable as is.

Day 2: morning started with getting the tub out of drivers side. Was a bit cack-handed and awkward but got there in the end.
started lining up and clamping the rear spring hangers and the rear bracing. Discovered the rear quarter stamping has the wee reveal around the bumper about an inch too low! Easy fix, just chop that section out and raise it, fill in the gap.
my brother likes tubbing stuff. Figured now is the only time it will be this easy..Tearing down This side was much smoother
aaaand now we’re having a lockdown so that’s that.. fuck it all. Cruise back to chch and work on some other cars I guess, come back in the weekend.

Wholey shit you have chopped out some shit there! Must be great starting to put it all back together. How are the patch panels fitting?
Spoke too soon, today has been a bit fiddly under the tail light getting 4 new bits lining up and the bumper recess in the quarter is an inch out
