  1. yeah. I pulled it apart but yeah the top part, not sure what its called but was abit bent took 2 gaskets to seal it properly its the big gasket too. but seem to be working ok intill now. Might pay to try another carby ?
  2. nice, Im 100% sure it wasnt doing it the other day aye but car was running like crap so played with the carby then it started doing it again. Car running like crap again anyways specialy when u try feed it. Just doesnt have the horse power it was putting out before and just doesnt sound right as if its not getting enough fuel or something. Sounds as is missing or hitting one massive flatspot. Also finding it very hard to start the car doesnt have a autochoke never did but wasnt ever this hard to start. im thinnking might need abit more fuel so i guess ill try tune the carby again if that fails might put on a 32/36 carby as they are easier to tune then the 40/40.
  3. sweet, ill get one next time im in palmy or napier dunno when that will be.
  4. yup has a hot cam in it but its not just idle does it when u brake while slow driving too.. e.g. coming to full stop. Doesnt do it while ur doing 100 how much are one of those vac guages? and is it hard to install?
  5. well went had another play still cant find the problem checked all hoses and connections, checked pedal box etc.. it got to the point i could hold the brake down and get the revs around the 2000rpm mark crazy could this be a carby related thing / intake manifold ? oh yeah and u know how u can usually pump the brake while car is going and it goes hard for a few seconds? well it doesnt even do that while we are here anyone know the mixture screws are on a 40/40 webber? theres 2 screws at the bottom and 2 atm anyone able to tell me exactly what they are thanks
  6. some good ideas there yea i think its something to do with the vacuum On my day off ill recheck everything listed here also have a play with the carby just incase keep them ideas coming gotta fix this problem because if it makes the engine just lean for a second that could end up being real bad!
  7. I thought i had fixed this but its come back again Every time i brake it bumps up my revs 400-500rpm and no im not touching the throttle for the brake! Even when car is out of gear u touch the brake pedal and it bumps revs up 400-500 rpm no hoses are touching or anything its got me stumped!!
  8. Nah wouldnt work because the normal esky one is way too short and puts pressure on the clutch and sorta leaves it open.
  9. yup i used a serria one too!!! but the normal mk4/5 one will be good too
  10. sex on wheels aye esky boi
  11. hmm possiable but i dunno i hadnt really tuned the carby so thats probably why. Only really backfired thru the carby when i didnt run a air filter so got more air kinda weird but the way the car was setup went sweet as and got it upto 200k easy as so if something was major wrong im sure it would of went BANG . i think 2.5" is a perfect size for a worked 2ltr works really well
  12. oh yeah they are pretty hard to find aswell dunno why tho :/
  13. my muffler is like a coby but its not a coby its some sort of sports type one which is meant to be better and its not baffelled yup sure does have a lumpy cam haha, i was running the 40/40 carby on it never tryed the 32/36. It idled fine tho both throats open at same time and has quite a few setting on it so engine never had any problems getting air/fuel only problem i had was it would backfire thru the carby i dunno if thats normal for it or old age but thats what caused my fire i think but was fine when running air filter on it. and yup bolts straight onto the 32/36 manifold best thing about it =)
  14. choice 2.5" how many mufflers u running? lol Yeah mines got 2.5" off extractor thru a sports muffler in the middle not only does it make the car rev faster it sounds awesome too but does get abit loud when u get to the higher rev's yeah hope u can get the idling sorted aye u running the 32/36 carby? might pay to try and get the 40/40 carb off the 3L v6 capri pretty hard to come by but they are that much better then the 32/36.
  15. U still using the normal esky brakes? and they work alright? i got the 2.0 capilers on the front of mine and i still dont think its right either that or im too used to how my subaru stops which is like instant!!! or my booster is stuff heh. what size exhaust u running ?
  16. hey bro, just seeing if u got exhaust sorted and what sort of braking system u running? also any chance of some more pics ?

    2l Sump

nope, the 205 block comes out of the serria its a little bit different to the cortina motor. not sure about the sump.
  18. bleed the brake system today didnt help at all really in the front abit better the rear is sweet u pull that handbrake and u stop so im thinnking theres a air leak or something in the front or they are still the oringal 4dr 1300 brakes and not rs2000
  19. Not sure on the hp will be atleast 130HP if not more. Havnt had it dynoed yet and as for rear drums mine are about 6" i need atleast 8" to past the cert right?
  20. are theses just for the front? i would be keen on a price also if u have more then one set lol and its all bolton no hard thinking required ? or hard work involved haha
  21. well no one said it yet, and yeah i know u dont want a engine conversion but ROTARY it
  22. and where would u find those? saw some on trademe awhile back like 300 lol
  23. Well it wont be bad money spend by all means just i dont have that sort of money atm thats why i said cheap all thanks to my subaru pooping out *gearbox* costing 1300 to fix then another 1000 on new mods now that makes me broke haha the price u pay for new school i guess.. i was going to try the brakes off a serria i just finished ripping gearbox/motor out but. they seem to be completely different design so thats that idea out the window.. and the cortina is too good to rape parts off it for the esky ahh what to do what to do keep them ideas coming
  24. 100 pound? not sure what thats in nz money haha but i said cheap!!! the other option i have is putting my worked 2.0 in my mk5 cortina and have it on the road tomorrow...
  25. well i have 2.0 capilers on the front or meant too and standard esky drums on the back and well it barely even stops the car. im going to bleed the system to see if it makes any differences but im still going to need brakes for the rear. so what im wondering is whats the easiest and cheapest way of doing this? im thinking i need atleast 8" drums anyways let me know ur ideas or what u have done to yours all info welcomed cheers
