Spent today welding up the 3.5 inch exhaust, got to the diff end, will have to finish muffler up and full weld in couple days, maxfab kit is pretty good quality for 800 or so $ for everything inc resonator vbands, shipping etc.
Trying to keep it all flush to bottom of car, the diff area is only place it has to dip down a bit but im happy with it ..

Couldnt find rx7 headlight motors for what i wanted to spend on them (not 450-500+$) so i got some mazda miata ones and set about modifying them, basically cut the bracket right back and weld some legs on it to attach to body, extend the arms a bit, my prototype proved successful, it goes up and down, lands flush with fenders... motors for NA mx5 are probably easier to find in the future if one dies.
Have set up a wiring system that works, and just need to clean everything up and copy and paste onto the other side, this car is already stripped out and hacked up in places so its definitely not a resto... so im only worried about functionality here.
A pic of the ecu system, and i will clean this area up a little for reliability...
And im exited about the stainless exhaust kit i got from maxfab, 3.5 inch with resonator, bends, reducer for turbo outlet, vbands, etc and eventually a muffler when i can decide how to go about that, but for now should be one of the biggest steps to getting this on the road again..

Nice FC, My teins were a used set from TM HR or something for a grand or something yonks ago.
Had to rebuilt a front but I'm looking to replace for BC golds.
Got the correct rear lights, are you going to fit the original headlights back on it?
Yes, and have yet to even look at suspension properly but i have had bc golds before and they were really good on my old skyline l, never had tein but they seem to be ok so far, for the one trip i took down the road because neighbors and straight pipe haha

Sweet whip! Are you going to keep it as a street legal track car?
I looked at Tein adjusties for my FC but they were nearly $10k!
Yea thats the plan! First tidy up, put pop up lights back on, sort battery box, clean up the engine bay and replace some old hoses etc, muffle exhaust, and just see where it goes... maybe a better ecu with some safety functions

The sticker covering a scratch on my glove box fell off a while ago so i got a colour match one at a car show haha, awesome day though heaps of cool cars out karapiro...The car behaved well with the cam, did another oil change because, well, turns out if you dump a bunch of diesel through the engine, even if you flush it all out.... it will clean the sht out of everything and put it all in your oil and filter, then change filter and oil twice it still takes a good 100km to get rid of the crankcase fumes and residue burning off.. i would not recommend using diesel but i had mixed it with atf and initially thought it a ok method to flush out some small particles of gasket and crap i dropped in the valley from the heads...
I was a bit confused about the smoky exhaust and fumes when i first drove it...
But it runs great and sounds great now and i bet its clean inside now hahaha

Small update, but i got everything closed back up, ran like 10 litres of diesel through the motor out the drain plug to hopefully run out any dust and debree i may have dropped through the block, triple checked everything and that nothing was ready to party with the the valves and pistons when they open.. (wouldnt be the first time!)...
Dumped heap of fresh oil over everything before putting the covers on..
Torqued everything i needed to, modified and fit the horribly manufactured 'calibre' intake gaskets, and yea not 100 % i dialed the cam in, because of math and things and people dont explain things in terms i can understand or something ... , so i just left it on 0 and hold faith in the manufacturer to grind it correctly lol

Mace is providing me a good chunk of refund as they cant make the memcal happen, im fkn stoked with that! Good on them to do that even though they diddnt have to, because my setup is not a factory setup, but i did ask if they needed more information about the setup, before they sent it all.
Today was stage 3 of filling, by far the most sanding...., now it gets a few days to dry as i do a work rotation, then probably one more round of filler for any remaining pinholes, then primer...
I want to get it as smooth as possible to not have to do heaps of primer-filler coats.
The factory holden production panel markings/ripples etc are still there, to make it look original-smooth ish.
