  1. Mx5 work, just needed a bita fabrication, the wiring unfortunately had to be done because car from the 80s, but not a hard mod
  2. Haha thats an idea, one or 2 would show up surely
  3. Spent today welding up the 3.5 inch exhaust, got to the diff end, will have to finish muffler up and full weld in couple days, maxfab kit is pretty good quality for 800 or so $ for everything inc resonator vbands, shipping etc. Trying to keep it all flush to bottom of car, the diff area is only place it has to dip down a bit but im happy with it ..
  4. Going hard on this car, motor frames done, welded and painted They are wired in with fuse and relay because original wiring diddnt work
  5. Couldnt find rx7 headlight motors for what i wanted to spend on them (not 450-500+$) so i got some mazda miata ones and set about modifying them, basically cut the bracket right back and weld some legs on it to attach to body, extend the arms a bit, my prototype proved successful, it goes up and down, lands flush with fenders... motors for NA mx5 are probably easier to find in the future if one dies. Have set up a wiring system that works, and just need to clean everything up and copy and paste onto the other side, this car is already stripped out and hacked up in places so its definitely not a resto... so im only worried about functionality here. A pic of the ecu system, and i will clean this area up a little for reliability... And im exited about the stainless exhaust kit i got from maxfab, 3.5 inch with resonator, bends, reducer for turbo outlet, vbands, etc and eventually a muffler when i can decide how to go about that, but for now should be one of the biggest steps to getting this on the road again..
  6. It diddnt come with the headlight motors, so ill have to chase some of them down
  7. Got rid of the .. in my opinion... ugly lights and put originals back on, someone had cut a big old hole in one side to feed air to pod filter, taking with it the headlight mounting holes, i tig welded a plate back in..
  8. Made a start with the lights, and this is how it sits at the moment, big old borgwarner turbo, will be doing some tidy up, and try get the pop ups on and working
  9. Yes, and have yet to even look at suspension properly but i have had bc golds before and they were really good on my old skyline l, never had tein but they seem to be ok so far, for the one trip i took down the road because neighbors and straight pipe haha
  10. Yea thats the plan! First tidy up, put pop up lights back on, sort battery box, clean up the engine bay and replace some old hoses etc, muffle exhaust, and just see where it goes... maybe a better ecu with some safety functions
  11. http://Vk304s Mazda rx7 s4 discussion thread https://oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/88933-vk304s-mazda-rx7-s4-discussion-thread/ Let me know your thoughts here
  12. So i got this now, it needs some love, but it is basically a streetable track car, dyno sheets for 300kw, straight pipe and super loud, hasnt had a wof for 5 years but regos on hold, my plan is to get it back on the road and have some fun in it ...
  13. Guess ill have to make a new profile or change my name somehow lol
  14. Sold this car :"( , had to be done, life changes and marriage fell apart, needed the cash. Hope the new owner looks after it.
  15. https://youtu.be/NkqrAkC47kY?si=xV532fGI7k3Sk2Zr o/s drags, just for fun-times diddnt get any better-so was just a good day racing different cars. Its got a stainless 3 inch front pipe with a screamer on it haha Couldnt afford the drag radials
  16. Be getting this thing ready for OS drags soon.
  17. The sticker covering a scratch on my glove box fell off a while ago so i got a colour match one at a car show haha, awesome day though heaps of cool cars out karapiro...The car behaved well with the cam, did another oil change because, well, turns out if you dump a bunch of diesel through the engine, even if you flush it all out.... it will clean the sht out of everything and put it all in your oil and filter, then change filter and oil twice it still takes a good 100km to get rid of the crankcase fumes and residue burning off.. i would not recommend using diesel but i had mixed it with atf and initially thought it a ok method to flush out some small particles of gasket and crap i dropped in the valley from the heads... I was a bit confused about the smoky exhaust and fumes when i first drove it... But it runs great and sounds great now and i bet its clean inside now hahaha
  18. And its dialed in now, air fuels look good while driving , timings on point, oil and filter changed, all done ...touch wood. adjusted https://youtube.com/shorts/_4V2mQLdSuE?si=Bzbz2ftqNzFQQxub Temporary to check air fuel seems to be doing ok, wide open it it heads into the 13s, high 12s
  19. https://youtube.com/shorts/yIYfHGwxxvQ?si=kOeOfV7NXb2rlX2O 1st start, low battery and nothing really hooked up but happy it started!
  20. Small update, but i got everything closed back up, ran like 10 litres of diesel through the motor out the drain plug to hopefully run out any dust and debree i may have dropped through the block, triple checked everything and that nothing was ready to party with the the valves and pistons when they open.. (wouldnt be the first time!)... Dumped heap of fresh oil over everything before putting the covers on.. Torqued everything i needed to, modified and fit the horribly manufactured 'calibre' intake gaskets, and yea not 100 % i dialed the cam in, because of math and things and people dont explain things in terms i can understand or something ... , so i just left it on 0 and hold faith in the manufacturer to grind it correctly lol
  21. Really completes the car, itll be a couple days before i can do any more...
  22. So painting is coming along after slaving away on it for a couple days, im happy how it went... Colour matched by link up paint, high heat silver for intake, valve covers etc, clear coated all of it!
  23. Mace is providing me a good chunk of refund as they cant make the memcal happen, im fkn stoked with that! Good on them to do that even though they diddnt have to, because my setup is not a factory setup, but i did ask if they needed more information about the setup, before they sent it all. Today was stage 3 of filling, by far the most sanding...., now it gets a few days to dry as i do a work rotation, then probably one more round of filler for any remaining pinholes, then primer... I want to get it as smooth as possible to not have to do heaps of primer-filler coats. The factory holden production panel markings/ripples etc are still there, to make it look original-smooth ish.
  24. Round 2 filler for all the scratches and welding distortion still waiting for mace to email me back
