Hey
Been reading your posts with interest for a while now - totally jealous of your shed time!
Really sorry to read about your back injury, that shit sucks. I can sympathise as I blew out two discs last year which protruded onto my spinal cord - the pain down my leg and foot was just insane; pretty much started eating tramadol like m&m's.
Anyway, there is a point to this dribble @yetchh mentioned above... after trying high dose steroids and being told I would probably need surgery, someone put me on to inversion therapy (basically hanging upside down by your ankles) This shit works! I went from hobbling around like an old git, to fairly well sorted within a few weeks.
So there you go, a bit unsolicited advice from a complete random.
Loving the Crown BTW
Cheers James

Hi James,
A couple of things compelled me to comment on this thread; you are my name sake and a HC Viva was my first car...
I drove my Viva for one day before taking it off the the road for a repower - the engine/gearbag of choice was a Datsun A12 and 4 speed. Now I understand that this is not the most exciting package but here's a couple of things to consider: A12 literally dropped in with minor mount fabrication, even the prop shaft was the correct length (Now my memory is struggling, this was in 1989) and I think the input yolk swapped directly to the UJ. Also, the engine is period and probably one of the most reliable ever made (the opposite of the Viva donk). Lastly, the A12 can produce good power without going completely mental and sounds great too with Dellorto's!
But if that's not your cup of tea, then chuck a Bridgeport 13B in it and be done with.
So there is my two cents worth; my first comment on OS too!
Cheers
James

Not sure about the 55th of May lol. But here is a bit of useless trivia. These were pressed in Palmerston North at a company called Coachwork International. They were the only company in NZ to have a press big enough (400ton) to emboss the lettering on the tailgate. They stamped all the major brands wellsides back in the day due to local content rules.
Mildly interesting... or not
