  1. That era of civic is prone to rust, no matter how well looked after. I guess thats why they are thin on the ground, particularly the si. The dohc zc they come with is a good competitor to a 4age, a b16a being a bit better and more powerful. Not uncommn to crack 120kW with a fresh b16 and minor upgrades like type r cams, bolt ons and a tune.

They are out there though, and due to light weight, with a b series will suprise a lot more powerful cars. There was a crx of the same vintage with a b18c cutting high 12 sec 1/4mile a few years ago. Try find a Starlet doing that.....

An EF civic will be easier to fit a bseries too, or find and EF9 which came with a B16a anyway, better suspension and more off the shelf parts due to later model Integra and Civic parts bolting straight in. Better chance of finding a non rusty one too. Personally i would look for a ef3 or ef9 for factory fuel injected for ease of engine swaps

Thanks, thats given me some more research to do...  :-)

  2. Just save a search on Trademe for civics and wait for one to turn up.

Was thinking that, there is an '88 down south that looks okay but the body shape is a bit different and I dont think it will take the engine swap I want to shove up it....more research needed.

  3. I'm really in no position financially to even contemplate a serious search, but I thought I'd at least ask the question...

One of my goals is to acquire an '84 Honda Civic Si and do some "tarting up" on it.....

So my question is....Are there any still around?  Ideally I'd love to find one so far down on its luck it can be grabbed cheaply, so being Reged/Wofed isnt important, as is being free of rust (rust we can sort....).  Being an Si is the thing, as an engine upgrade would be planned to give it some B16 goodness.  I suppose even a shell in a wreckers would make a good start....

Anybody got any comments?  Is it possible to find one? Or do I have more chance of pushing a pound of butter up a parrots sphincter with a hot needle?

Oh, and a crap VW would be nice as well, my other daughter deserves a Hot Pink Baja Bug....

    Ev.   :-)

  4. I know I'll be asked to leave the forum with this utterance, but.....

I've always thought this bike's styling would really suit a conversion to run on volts.....In fact, if I can find one with a seized engine one day I might just be mad enough to try it.

Location: Lower Hutt, up in the hills behind Naenae to be precise

Car: Honda Odyssey (But you dont care about that), 1977 Mini which is slowly decomposing in my driveway.  I did have a mint 1975 Hillman Hunter when I worked for Turners Auctions many moons ago, but foolishly sold it....still regret that.

Mods: Just starting, but the skies the limit really.  First is backdating the front end with a Mk1 grill and moustache, will need a fibreglass bonnet to replace the crappy one it has.

    Pics: Somewhere....watch this space

Found Oldschool: Actually was wandering around looking for info on some cars I can remember from my teenage years (1980's) that I'd now like to find as projects.

I am working on the mini with my 10 year old daughter, the plan is to have to back roadworthy for her once she gets her license so I've got 5 years!  I'd also like her to be able to become handy wrenching so she can fix anything that goes wrong with it.

I'm starting to spend time working with some guys in the Commercial CNC Router/Laser Cutting area if anyone needs anything done.  Currently located in Gracefeld but looking for bigger premises to fit in some new equipment....
