I think its safe to assume Yak that if a random, non-descript car starts flashing its lights at you its an oldschooler....unless the lights are coloured and roof mounted...or behind the grille on a late model Holden Commodore.

Anyone in Welly able to do this?

I just hope that there is still a crap VW Beetle available to Baja by the time my 7year old daughter is old enough to get her license......the thought of having to buy someones beautifully restored baby to slash and burn doesnt really seem like the best way to go.

Hey guys,
I appreciate all the thoughts and ideas, its definitely given me some food for thought.
3 day weekend (its a work thing) so I might do a site survey and see what will work.....

Well, prompted by the "itch" thread and tirelessly hounded by Mc_Lolfish I decided that I should really pull finger as the weather gets drier and warmer and make a start on getting the mini back on her feet.
The biggest issue......my palatial mansion doesnt come with a garage! "Loula" the mini has been living in a gravel driveway under a tarpaulin....which hasnt been kind to her.
SO:
How would people suggest I get things setup to make for a reasonably weathertight spot to start the big strip down? I'm thinking of getting some marine ply (or similar) to put down over the gravel to provide at least a semblance of weather proofing from underneath, but apart from that I am undecided.
Tarpaulin Tent? Marque? Bodged structure from Pallets?
All suggestions (on the back of a postcard) gratefully received.

I'm keen to keep an eye on this, I've often wondered about the practicalities of relocating a house....
-
Yep, just like that......
If one came up when I had the readies I would throw all other plans/dreams aside and grab it.
-
I would say its not really "old school" and doesnt really fit with the culture of the forum.....
BUT.......everyone on here are car nuts and might need/want/know someone etc, so I'd go with Neal and say put it up. Obviously you wouldnt start a project thread about it, but FS shouldnt be an issue.

Was thinking the same thing, or at least find someone willing to do it for me.......Whats the legalities of widening steelies anyway? I always thought it was a bit dodgy?
Love the Sigma BTW, brings back happy memories of riding around in friends one in the 80's....

I thought that must have been you tootling through Naenae around 10ish, not many Impulses around these days.
I was going to wave and toot to say hi, but then realised it might look like some kind of gang initiation thing...

"Was a bit stiff in the turns" seemed to get an airing most weeks!
I remember being incredibly surprised when I found out much later the "surly test driver" had actually driven F1 for Ferrari.....and yet wasnt really celebrated in his native country.
RIP Chris.

Geoff failed at trying to convince me to part with my AT.
Find one, they're great.
But as rare as Jewish bacon, by the sound of things.
Just enjoying getting my head around AT's EF's and EG's at the moment....

Attempting to convince someone to part with their AT
Welcomed you to NZhondas, but i suppose i'll post here too. Realise your dream and help me build a race car out of my 2nd Honda, we could be beautiful together.
Yeah, I know...virtually impossible. But as I said, nows the time to start looking when I'm penniless with lots of time to learn what I will need to know when the time comes.
Mmmm, race car......You might regret that invite though, youre working on the basis I know my way around a toolbox!
A young family restricts movement a wee bit, but I'm essentially keen.
PM me.

I had an EF3 shuttle as a second car when we lived in Nelson at "The turn of the century" <cough cough> and even just stock I had a lot of fun with it. Used to throw the dog in the back and drive to Brightwater everyday to work in a vineyard.

That moment when you know you're talking to exactly the right guy about a certain subject.
Hell Yeah....

That era of civic is prone to rust, no matter how well looked after. I guess thats why they are thin on the ground, particularly the si. The dohc zc they come with is a good competitor to a 4age, a b16a being a bit better and more powerful. Not uncommn to crack 120kW with a fresh b16 and minor upgrades like type r cams, bolt ons and a tune.
They are out there though, and due to light weight, with a b series will suprise a lot more powerful cars. There was a crx of the same vintage with a b18c cutting high 12 sec 1/4mile a few years ago. Try find a Starlet doing that.....
An EF civic will be easier to fit a bseries too, or find and EF9 which came with a B16a anyway, better suspension and more off the shelf parts due to later model Integra and Civic parts bolting straight in. Better chance of finding a non rusty one too. Personally i would look for a ef3 or ef9 for factory fuel injected for ease of engine swaps
Thanks, thats given me some more research to do...
