  1. Are those Telstars the same shape/ model as Mazda GE series?

I have a GE Cronos in my backyard if you need any odd bits ?

Head and tail lights look the same but front bumper may be a bit dear for shipping from way down here

Most of the interior is good and the exterior dark blue looks same shade

All I'm keeping is the engine so the rest is surplus / going to scrap at some point

  2. It's really easy- just use pin and eye bush mounts like on the end of a panhard bar.

Can just cruise to a wrecker, grab one rear link off something like a safari and cut the ends off.

Yus been looking at that setup too but probably with new bits

All the wrecks where I am are still on the road or being hoarded= no real wreckers within 200km of me

Rockauto and trademe are my fastest parts suppliers

  3. a trap with that style of mount is there is no locking function like a lot of oe mounts, you have to have something to prevent the steering getting jammed up by the engine if the rubber mount breaks. Usually not a problem on a smaller engine that has a lot of clearance from the steering shaft, but is often an issue on something like a 1UZ

Plenty of clearance from steering wheel shaft and unis

Not much room above the steering rack and crossmember

What's minimum clearance all round for engine to body shell or crossmember?

Can be fairly easily solved though

  4. While we are on the engine mount subject

I have not got a lot of room to use my stock mx5 rubber mounts

Or the big steel cup around them

Is it ok to use generic round rubber mounts like in those photos

Looking at some landrover ones that are low profile

Stock mount location on crossmember - rubber mounts with 10mm studs- 6mm steel plates onto engine

    Ticketed welds on the plates

    Sound ok ?

  5. Getting there...

Just sorting linkages and the alloy braces between bodies today

I have jigsawed a curve in my wooden bonnet guide now so a little more room

Thinkin just an alloy box for air intake with two hoses running to pods behind each headlight for cold air feed

Can get lower without those rubber BMW joiners on top too

Very tight clearance between the back itbs and the throttle arms

And the whole v6 everything is staggered is interesting to work around

  6. And yes would need 2 sets for six throats total price starts adding up

Other option is to use 2 or 3 easy to find cheap car throttle bodies of size to your carbs that would adapt to your existing manifold

Or one huge body on a plenum

Six cylinder RFB setup must be close?

Or if Holden does a bolt on efi manifold just use part of that for the flange and injectors/ injector seats and bastardize some bits you like onto it

  7. What size "throat" are they?

Quick google and they look fairly smallish?

From what ive seen id probably need 2 sets and get a webber style manifold.

    ie: 6 itb's.

    46mm?

    6 will run a 2.5 v6 to 8000rpm that runs a single 60mm throttle body standard

    Holden is what 3.3litre?

  8. Have a look at motorbike bodies with injectors built in sets of 3 like triumph

Rare as here dirt cheap on eBay uk

Easier to home fab manifold then

You may find it's cheaper for an aftermarket ecu with ignition control as well than fuel only

You can always run the distributor and ignore the ignition side until you feel the urge but it will give better control with full ecu control

If you know the ignition side is sweet with the dizzy it takes a lot of the guesswork out of troubleshooting the efi install

  9. Got inlet manifolds back from local alloy wizards

Machined the manifolds short as possible and flat

Sized alloy tubing to squash to oval to match the inlet ports

    Squashed cut welded

Needs just a bit of trim to level up the top ends and  dremel porting to smooth it in for flow

And this shows how much room i dont have to make an airbox ...

  10. More slow slow progress

Trimmed the adaptor plate down to final size (2.5kg) and painted it to stop rust and pretend its alloy

    IMG_1630.jpg

Started making the starter motor plate

Chopped up a sump to start on making one of those to fit

Manual steering rack arrived and gasket set and 36-1 crank pulley on their way cheap via Amazon and Youshop

  11. Yup from reading his story it seems like the Camira dash was the beginning of the end from kitcar to corporate fuckup

Also seems like our OPs car is one of the finest made and the creator even bought it for his daughter at some point

More photos of your awesome and rare piece of nz oldschool motoring history please
