Yeh a few xr’s have been on my watchlist in the past, but as lame as it sounds I really want some under seat storage - it’ll be a day to day use as a commuter, and something that’ll be able to do the odd few hour trip here n there. sitting on 80km ringing the 50cc isn’t pleasant and i’d love to do the odd adventure.

One bike / scoot to do it all / all that I need it to do.

If I was you I’d go for UK110 - Address 110. Or Dio 110. They both have storage. PCX150 has even better storage but feels much bigger as a bike than the other two. Not many geared bikes have decent storage here unless you throw a box on the back.

I pestered the guy at blue wing once about our selection of models here, and he added that each model to be OK'd for registering had to go through whatever government process, and threw out an outrageous sounding cost per model cycle (I forget but I want to say 6 figures).

Which when spread over a model with lowish sales numbers goes some way to explain the price hikes.

Yeah this is also a thing. Compliance costs for a single model are crazy. Then people get upset that the bike isn’t the exact same price as it is on the dealer floor in Bangkok, which is 50km from the factory it was made. Lots of contributing factors but we aren’t an easy to please biking nation.

I was gonna reach out to @Mop Head about seeing if he wanted help with video or pics of the event, but realised its anniversary weekend & I'm up in Auckland.

We’ll be there this Saturday doing ground works for the event if you’re bored and want some shit yarns surrounded by cow shit.

  4. We’re lucky we get the Dio 110, Address 110, NMAX 155, Xmax 300, PCX160 and ADV150.

Twist and goes actually have a few decent models on offer. I would 80,000% daily a PCX. Such a nice scoot. Then with the Monkey, Grom, Ct125 and Super Cub - the last 5 years has had a lot more on offer than years previous.

It's probably been covered to death, but I haven't read or know why ...

Why don't NZ honda (or other NZ bike distributors) bring in the wave / wave equivalent models? Is it just demand?

I'm gonna be after something this year to replace my kymco twist n go.  Would love a 'manual' scooter.  I guess NBC is the go to?

ABS rules and demand. Before ABS rules changed it was just demand. Suzuki bought in a few underbone models back in the early 00’s and so did Kawasaki. Lifan had a small presence with Wave replicas too. But they were utterly shit.

The XRM125 could be road legal if it was Combi brake. Because ABS rules only start at 126cc and above. Honda make plenty of Combi brake models too, but they just don’t bring anything here.

Our 5,000,000 people equals fuck all people wanting to spend money on bikes and that means we have such a diminished demand.

Blue Wing Honda which is the local Honda importer weren’t even going to bring in the CT125 till one dealer in wellington said they would buy however many they needed to guarantee a Kiwi shipment.

Even the XRM125 was a solid no from three different people that worked at Honda. Then I found out that Honda had bought a few to NZ already and demo’d them with a small group. @Truenotchreceiving one at work and having photos was the first guarantee it was actually coming here.

Even the new C125 Super Cub struggled here. With Honda having a much lower demand than expected.

TL;DR: NZ doesn’t have enough people. And thousands of people saying ‘I would buy one of those’ usually ends up with 3.24 people actually committing and handing over money.

Suzuki had balls and gave it a go back in the day with some Malaysian made models and then it’s been fleeting ever since.

  6. Speaking of Hondas.

Here's a video where I show what bikes cost in a Thai Honda dealership. Prices are all Thai baht. So open google and just type the amount to NZD like this: "**,*** baht to NZD" - google will do the rest.

  7. Having used both Sena and Cardo I'm a big Cardo fan.

Sena isn't terrible. But Cardo worked over longer distances and battery lasted longer from personal experience. Also if a tonne of you have them they just link up and you can have shit yarns all day.

As far as models, they have a tonne, we got the 'top of the line' one back when we ordered which was the Cardo Packtalk Bold. Cheaper models mean less comms range if you're yarning with someone.

@GuyWithAviators ours have JBL speakers you spoon head. <3
